Pat Mayse East Campground Introduce
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that caters particularly to equestrian enthusiasts while offering a scenic natural setting, Pat Mayse East Campground near Arthur City, Texas, presents a noteworthy option. Located at Pat Mayse E Park Rd, Arthur City, TX 75411, USA, this campground has garnered positive feedback for its beautiful environment and excellent facilities for horseback riding. If you're looking to combine your love for camping with the joy of riding your horses on well-maintained trails, Pat Mayse East Campground might be the ideal destination for your next outdoor adventure.
The environment surrounding Pat Mayse East Campground is consistently described as "beautiful," suggesting a picturesque natural setting that campers can appreciate. The campground is particularly appealing to those who enjoy horseback riding, as it boasts trails that have been "cleared out beautifully," indicating a commitment to maintaining accessible and enjoyable paths for riders. Furthermore, the presence of "very nice pens for your horses" is a significant advantage for campers who plan to bring their equine companions. This thoughtful amenity ensures the safety and comfort of the horses during your stay, allowing you to fully enjoy the equestrian aspects of the campground.
One of the key services offered at Pat Mayse East Campground is its specific infrastructure for horseback riding. The well-maintained horse trails and the provided horse pens are significant features that cater to a niche group of campers. Beyond equestrian facilities, the campground also offers a "swimming area," suggesting the presence of a lake or designated swimming zone where campers can cool off and enjoy water-based recreation. The campground host is also mentioned as being "super nice," indicating a welcoming and helpful staff presence that can enhance the overall camping experience by providing assistance and information.
However, it's important to note some of the limitations and potential drawbacks mentioned in the customer reviews. One recurring issue is the unevenness of the campsites. Multiple reviewers pointed out that their sites were not level, requiring the use of leveling blocks and stabilizer jacks for motorhomes and trailers. This is a crucial consideration for campers with larger rigs, as setting up on an unlevel site can be challenging and uncomfortable. Additionally, one reviewer expressed a wish for restrooms with water, as the existing facilities are vault toilets. While another reviewer noted that the vault toilet they used was clean and had a light (a positive aspect compared to some other vault toilets), the absence of flush toilets and running water in the restrooms might be a significant factor for some campers.
Another discrepancy noted by a reviewer concerns the information provided online versus the reality at the campground. The website apparently indicated the presence of pull-thru sites and water hookups at specific sites, which turned out to be inaccurate. The reviewer stated that there were no pull-thru sites available and that the nearest water hookup to their reserved site was about 30 yards away, too far for a standard hose connection. Despite these inaccuracies, the campground does offer a "water fill and dump station just outside the campground," which is a valuable service for RV owners needing to replenish their water supply or empty their waste tanks. The presence of "several horse corrals" further emphasizes the campground's focus on equestrian camping.
Based on the available information, there are no specific promotional details mentioned for Pat Mayse East Campground. Campgrounds sometimes offer discounts for longer stays, seasonal promotions, or special rates for certain groups (e.g., seniors, military). Local users interested in camping at Pat Mayse East Campground might want to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers, (903) 732-4956 or +1 903-732-4956, to inquire about any current promotions or discounts that might be available. Additionally, checking the official website or any associated booking platforms might reveal special offers.
In conclusion, Pat Mayse East Campground offers a beautiful setting and excellent amenities for campers who enjoy horseback riding, with well-maintained trails and dedicated horse pens. The presence of a swimming area and a helpful campground host adds to its appeal. However, potential visitors should be aware of the unevenness of some campsites and the use of vault toilets without running water. While the online information regarding pull-thru sites and water hookups may not be entirely accurate, the availability of a water fill and dump station is beneficial for RVers. For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that uniquely combines nature and equestrian activities, Pat Mayse East Campground is worth considering, but it's advisable to call ahead to confirm site levels and the availability of specific amenities based on your needs.

Pat Mayse East Campground Reviews
It’s a beautiful place to camp and ride horses. The trails had been cleared out beautifully. Very nice pens for your horses. The only thing I wish is that the sites were more level. We had the back end of our motorhome up on four blocks, as well as having to raise it with our stabilizer jacks. I’ll show it would be nice if they had restrooms with water.
Dec 05, 2024 · Beth BelflowerThe campground itself was not bad. The bathroom was clean, even being a vault toilet, and it had a light, which is more than I can say for most vault toilets. The campground host was super nice. The swimming area wasn't bad. However, the website said the site I reserved was a pull-thru site. It was not. There are no pull-thru sites here. It also said my site had water hookups. The closest one was about 30 yards away. Definitely not close enough for a hose to hook up to. My site was not very level either. But, it's not a bad place to stay for a few nights, or if you have a working water pump. There is a water fill and dump station just outside the campground. And, several horse corrals, along with a horse trail, if you want to bring your horses.
Mar 07, 2023 · Staci WilldenPretty clean, water and electric readily available. Bathroom is hole in ground toilet.Nice trails to ride on. Need some work on trails. Weeds too high.
May 15, 2022 · Beverly BallWe love staying at pat mayse east camp ground. Ron is the greatest camp host around! He makes sure we have a great stay and enjoy seeing him everytime we stay! I just wish the B loop wasn't closing on the 1st because this is our favorite part of the lake to stay and we plan on camping in the winter.
Sep 28, 2024 · Cheryl SimpsonPretty RV and tent camping spots right beside the lake, good charcoal grills available, restrooms, and water spigots. Also must be very dog friendly, since I’ve seen many folks bring their pets.
