You can reach them at (989) 876-8310 or +1 989-876-8310. While the available reviews are limited, they highlight key features such as a dedicated dog park within the broader Au Gres City Park, its location on the river and near Lake Huron, and its reputation as a great fishing area, along with hosting community events.
Riverside Environment and Proximity to Lake Huron:
The name itself, City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground, immediately suggests a significant environmental feature: its location directly on the Au Gres River. Riverfront camping offers a unique ambiance, with the soothing sounds of flowing water and opportunities for various water-related activities. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the nature of the riverbank at the campground (e.g., accessibility for launching small boats, fishing directly from the shore), the mention of it being a "great place to camp in Michigan on the river" indicates that the riverside setting is a key draw for visitors seeking "camping near me" with a natural aquatic environment.
Adding to its appeal for those who enjoy larger bodies of water, the campground is also noted to be "down the road from Lake Huron." This proximity provides campers with easy access to the vastness and recreational opportunities of one of the Great Lakes. Whether it's swimming, boating, or simply enjoying the scenic beauty of Lake Huron, the campground's location offers the best of both riverine and lacustrine environments for local camping enthusiasts.
Services and Amenities (Based on Limited Reviews):
The provided reviews offer limited direct information about the standard services and amenities one might expect at a campground, such as restroom facilities, shower availability, picnic tables, or fire pits at individual campsites. However, one review prominently features "Kristin's Bark Park" located within the Au Gres City Park, where the campground is situated. This indicates the presence of a significant amenity for dog owners. The dog park is described as a "wonderful two-sided park with a wood fence in between" to prevent issues between dogs. It is equipped with agility equipment like a pole weave, tunnel, jumps, and a small A-frame. The provision of poo bags further highlights the thoughtful design for pet owners. For local users who travel with dogs and are looking for "camping near me" with dedicated pet-friendly facilities, the presence of this well-regarded dog park is a major advantage.
Another review mentions an "Awesome Halloween event!!" hosted at the campground. This suggests that the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground may organize or host community events, potentially adding an extra layer of engagement and entertainment for campers, especially during specific times of the year. For local families or individuals looking for "camping near me" that offers more than just a campsite, the possibility of participating in events could be a significant draw.
Features: Fishing and Pet-Friendly Environment:
One of the standout features mentioned in the reviews is that the area is a "Great fishing area!!!" This implies that the Au Gres River, and potentially nearby Lake Huron, offer excellent opportunities for anglers. For local users who enjoy fishing and are searching for "camping near me" with convenient access to good fishing spots, the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground appears to be a promising option. The type of fish available and any specific regulations or access points related to fishing are not detailed in the reviews, but the enthusiastic endorsement suggests a positive fishing experience.
The presence of Kristin's Bark Park, as detailed earlier, is a significant feature for campers with dogs. The well-equipped and thoughtfully designed dog park provides a safe and engaging space for pets, making the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground a particularly attractive choice for pet-owning local residents seeking "camping near me" where their furry companions are well-catered for.
The combination of riverfront camping, proximity to Lake Huron, a dedicated dog park, and its reputation as a great fishing area sets the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground apart as a potentially unique and appealing option for local campers.
Promotional Information and Considerations:
For local residents seeking "camping near me," the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground offers a distinctive experience centered around the Au Gres River and its close proximity to Lake Huron. The presence of Kristin's Bark Park within the Au Gres City Park makes it an especially attractive destination for campers traveling with dogs, providing a dedicated and well-equipped space for pets to enjoy. Furthermore, the area's reputation as a "Great fishing area!!!" should appeal to anglers looking for a convenient camping base.
The mention of an "Awesome Halloween event!!" suggests that the campground may host community events, offering additional entertainment value for campers, particularly during seasonal periods. Local users interested in a campground that potentially offers more than just campsites might find this appealing.
To fully appreciate the offerings of the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground, local users are encouraged to contact them directly at (989) 876-8310 or +1 989-876-8310 for detailed information regarding campsite availability, amenities (such as restrooms, showers, hookups if applicable), specific regulations, and any potential fees. Inquiring about the accessibility of the riverfront for activities like fishing or launching small watercraft would also be beneficial for those interested in utilizing the river. Dog owners may want to confirm any specific rules or guidelines related to pets within the campground itself, beyond the bark park.
Given the limited number of reviews, local campers might also consider looking for additional online information or testimonials to gain a broader perspective on the overall camping experience at the City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground. However, the existing feedback highlights a potentially appealing combination of natural environment (river and lake proximity), pet-friendly facilities (the excellent dog park), and recreational opportunities (fishing), making it a worthwhile option for local "camping near me" exploration.

City of Au Gres Riverfront Campground Reviews
We visited Kristin's Bark Park in the AuGres City Park. We were there all by ourselves and it's a wonderful two-sided park with a wood fence in between to discourage any fence fighting if somebody happens to bring an unruly dog. Each side has some agility equipment: a pole weave, a tunnel, some jumps, and a small A-frame. They provide poo bags for any accidents your puppy dog may have. All in all, it's a wonderful dog park.❤️🐾🐾❤️
Apr 27, 2025 · Jerri SmithAwesome Halloween event!! Great place to camp in Michigan on the river and down the road from Lake Huron. Great fishing area!!!
Oct 20, 2024 · tim LastI love camping and love having a bon fire but the ambiance of the street light was overwhelmingly bright. Need to use a dimmer bulb. I was at site 46.
Aug 12, 2024 · kim swartwoodVery clean. Loved everything about it, except the Mosquito spraying at 10pm right next to our open windows. Not only was it loud, its chemicals that I wished to not breath in or walk my dog around it. I wish there would have been communucation...Sigh :/Also the stamping factory next door gets annoying after awhile. The staff was extremely nice!
Aug 26, 2022 · JI want to say how good these people are. I had dropped my wallet and didn’t realize this until the next day. I looked the next day and they had posted signs with a number to call! I really appreciate the effort to get my wallet back to me!
