Au Gres City Park Introduce
For local residents seeking a convenient and amenity-rich "camping near me" experience, Au Gres City Park, located at 522 Park St, Au Gres, MI 48703, USA, offers an appealing option. Situated directly on the river and within easy walking distance of the town's stores and restaurants, this city park provides a unique blend of natural beauty and urban accessibility. Based on positive feedback from recent visitors, Au Gres City Park is a well-maintained and family-friendly destination for camping and recreation.
One of the standout features of Au Gres City Park is its picturesque riverside camping. Imagine setting up your tent or parking your RV right along the riverbank, enjoying the soothing sounds of the water and the scenic views. This prime location not only offers a tranquil environment but also provides direct access for water-based activities, as highlighted by a visitor who enjoyed fishing with their boat. The convenience of camping on the river is a significant draw for those looking to combine their love of the outdoors with easy access to water recreation.
Beyond its natural setting, Au Gres City Park boasts exceptional convenience. Campers appreciate the ability to easily walk to nearby stores and restaurants, eliminating the need for constant driving and allowing for spontaneous exploration of the local offerings. The mention of a "river walk" further suggests opportunities for leisurely strolls along the river, enhancing the overall experience and providing a pleasant way to connect with the surroundings. This walkability factor makes Au Gres City Park a particularly attractive option for those who enjoy having amenities within easy reach.
For fishing enthusiasts, Au Gres City Park offers a valuable amenity: a "very nice fish cleaning station." This thoughtful addition makes it convenient for anglers to prepare their catch after a day of fishing on the river or nearby Lake Huron. The availability of such a facility underscores the park's appeal to those interested in fishing and water-based activities.
Maintaining clean and well-kept facilities is clearly a priority at Au Gres City Park. Visitors consistently praise the "clean bathrooms and shower" facilities. This is a crucial aspect of any campground experience, and the positive feedback indicates a commitment to providing a comfortable and hygienic environment for guests. Additionally, the staff is described as "always friendly," contributing to a welcoming and positive atmosphere within the park.
The overall upkeep of the park grounds also receives high marks, with reviewers noting that the grounds are "kept clean and mowed." This attention to detail ensures a pleasant and aesthetically pleasing environment for campers and other park visitors. The well-maintained grounds further enhance the enjoyment of the park's recreational amenities, which cater to a wide range of ages.
Families with children will appreciate the "great play areas for little ones," providing safe and engaging spaces for younger visitors to enjoy. For older children and adults, the park offers "tennis courts and volleyball," providing opportunities for active recreation and friendly competition. The presence of these diverse recreational facilities makes Au Gres City Park an excellent choice for families looking for a "camping near me" destination with activities for everyone.
Adding to the park's appeal is its proximity to "close beaches" and an "ice cream" shop, both within a short walk. This further enhances the convenience and provides additional options for leisure and enjoyment. The easy access to beaches suggests opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the shores of Lake Huron, while the nearby ice cream shop offers a sweet treat after a day of outdoor activities.
While the reviews do not explicitly mention the types of campsites available (e.g., RV hookups, tent sites), the fact that visitors "camped on the river" suggests the availability of riverside campsites. Local users planning to camp should contact Au Gres City Park directly at (989) 876-8310 or their mobile number, +1 989-876-8310, to inquire about the specific types of campsites offered, the amenities available at each site (e.g., water, electricity, fire pits, picnic tables), and reservation procedures.
In conclusion, Au Gres City Park offers a compelling "camping near me" option for local residents seeking a blend of natural beauty, recreational amenities, and urban convenience. Its riverside campsites, walkability to town, clean facilities, friendly staff, and diverse recreational options, including play areas, tennis and volleyball courts, and proximity to beaches and ice cream, make it an attractive destination for individuals and families alike. The presence of a fish cleaning station further enhances its appeal to anglers. Contact Au Gres City Park directly to learn more about their camping facilities and plan your next local getaway.

Aug 17, 2023 · Doug MosselClean bathroms, shower. Always friendly staff. Grounds are kept clean and mowed. Great play areas for little ones, tennis courts and volleyball for big kids. Close beaches and ice cream a short walk away.
Aug 15, 2018 · Kimberly ChamberlainBest to camp farther to right side of campground. Big LOUD stamping plant on left side ruined our night. Every 4 seconds it thumps loudly.
Aug 04, 2024 · Mary Van SuilichemWe have been camping here 3 years now awesome staff! The bathroom and shower's are always clean! Fishing and kayaking the river is amazing. We took our granddaughter for her first camping trip she loves it!
Aug 08, 2021 · Jenni FranklinNice campground, but small sites. My daughter loves the pedestrian bridge over the river. I enjoy sitting at my campsite and enjoying my view of the river.I’m not a fan of the placement of the fire rings on the river side. They are right next to the sidewalk, so you have a lot of people walking right next to you when you are trying to enjoy your fire.It seems recently that more and more people are long term campers so there are fewer sites available for weekenders.Take your bicycle and ride around town and out to the bay. It’s a nice ride.
