Public reviews of Calexico Mobile Home Park offer a glimpse into its history and current state, presenting a somewhat contrasting picture across different time periods. It's important for potential residents to consider these varying perspectives when evaluating whether this park aligns with their needs and expectations for long-term living.
One former resident fondly recalls their time living in the park during the 1980s with their family, the Gastelum Family. This review expresses a deep sense of nostalgia and love for the community, highlighting the many cherished memories and pictures from that period. The reviewer notes that the mobile homes have changed significantly over the years, remembering their family's white mobile home, which is now brown. They also mention the addition of fencing, indicating a change in the park's physical layout. While acknowledging that the park "used to be much nicer before," they still consider it "a great place to live," expressing their current residence in Merced, California, and their longing for Calexico.
In contrast, a more recent review from June 2019 expresses significant concerns about the "new management." This reviewer describes a lack of professionalism in the office, stating that visitors might find a "day care instead of professional business" when interacting with the supervisor. They also report experiencing dismissive comments from the manager, such as characterizing air conditioning in the Imperial Valley as a "luxury" rather than a necessity. The reviewer further alleges a lack of transparency, claiming their request for the owner's contact information was denied. Additionally, they raise serious safety concerns regarding electrical fixes that allegedly "do not comply with the state laws" and urgently seek help to address these issues within the mobile home park. This reviewer's overall tone suggests a significant decline in the quality of management and living conditions compared to the positive memories shared by the former resident from the 1980s.
Based on these reviews, the environment, services, and features of Calexico Mobile Home Park appear to have evolved over time:
- Past Community Atmosphere: A former resident from the 1980s recalls a loving community with positive memories.
- Long-Term Residential Living: The park has historically served as a long-term residence for families.
- Changes in Physical Appearance: Mobile homes and the park layout, including the addition of fencing, have changed over time.
- On-Site Management: Current management is present, although recent feedback raises concerns about professionalism and responsiveness.
- Potential Maintenance Issues: Allegations of electrical work not complying with state laws suggest potential maintenance concerns.
- Uncertainty Regarding Amenities: Neither review provides specific details about current amenities such as pools, clubhouses, or pet areas.
The promotional aspect is limited to the nostalgic recollection of a former resident, highlighting positive past experiences. The more recent review serves as a strong cautionary note regarding the current management and potential living conditions.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" who might be considering a longer-term stay in a mobile home park setting in Calexico, Calexico Mobile Home Park presents a complex picture. The positive memories from the past suggest a community that was once well-regarded. However, the recent review raises serious concerns about the current management's professionalism, transparency, and the safety of maintenance practices. The stark contrast between these accounts underscores the importance of thorough investigation for any potential resident.
Given the significant concerns raised in the recent review, it is strongly recommended that anyone considering Calexico Mobile Home Park for long-term living conduct a thorough on-site visit. This visit should include a careful assessment of the park's overall maintenance, infrastructure, and interactions with current management and residents. Asking specific questions about management policies, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols will be crucial. Furthermore, attempting to speak with multiple current residents about their experiences can provide a more comprehensive and balanced understanding of the community today.
The advice from the more recent reviewer to seek help in addressing alleged code violations and the denial of owner contact information are particularly concerning. Potential residents should be prepared to address such issues proactively if they choose to consider this park further. While the fond memories of the past may be appealing, the present-day concerns regarding management and safety appear to be significant factors that warrant careful consideration and investigation before making any decisions about residing at Calexico Mobile Home Park.
