Grants Pass KOA Journey Introduce
For local residents exploring "camping near me" options in the Grants Pass, Oregon area, Grants Pass KOA Journey, located at 699 Jumpoff Joe Creek Rd, Grants Pass, OR 97526, USA, and reachable at (541) 479-7974 or +1 541-479-7974, presents itself as a potential choice. However, recent customer feedback provides some critical perspectives on the campground's pricing, environment, and customer service that local users should carefully consider.
Regarding the environment, one reviewer described the Grants Pass KOA Journey as "small and loud with barking dogs and loud neighbors." This suggests that the campground might not offer the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere that some campers seek. The small size could potentially lead to closer proximity between campsites, increasing the likelihood of noise from neighboring campers and pets. This is an important consideration for local users who prioritize a quiet and relaxing camping experience.
In terms of services and features, the limited information available in the reviews focuses primarily on negative aspects. One reviewer mentioned the pricing, stating that they were asked to pay $76 after hours, contrasting this with an expectation of around $58 for most KOAs during the spring. This suggests that the pricing at Grants Pass KOA Journey might be higher than some other KOA locations in the area during certain times of the year. The reviewer also highlighted the lack of appealing features compared to a nearby alternative, Seven Feathers RV Resort, which they noted offers "gorgeous sites, an indoor pool, and a fun casino" for only a slightly higher price. The mention of Seven Feathers having "outstanding breakfast" further positions it as a potentially more attractive option for some campers seeking additional amenities and value.
Customer service appears to be a significant area of concern based on the recent reviews. One customer recounted a negative experience involving a misunderstanding about checking out the park before checking in at the office. Despite being a KOA Rewards member and observing signs indicating "members or guests only," this individual and their family were allegedly confronted aggressively by a staff member for what was perceived as trespassing. The reviewer described the interaction as "completely unprofessional" and stated they would not stay at the campground even if offered compensation. This paints a concerning picture of the customer service and communication at Grants Pass KOA Journey, which local users should take into account when considering this campground for their "camping near me" needs.
The second reviewer's negative encounter raises questions about the campground's policies regarding visitors and the clarity of their check-in procedures. The fact that a potential guest who had called ahead was treated in this manner suggests a lack of clear communication or potentially an overly strict enforcement of rules that could deter prospective campers. For local users who might want to visit the campground briefly before committing to a stay, this review serves as a strong caution to clarify the proper procedures beforehand to avoid a negative interaction.
The reviews collectively do not offer any positive feedback regarding specific services or features at Grants Pass KOA Journey. The focus is primarily on the perceived high cost relative to other options, the potentially noisy and small environment, and concerning experiences with customer service. This lack of positive mentions regarding amenities, cleanliness, or other typical campground features makes it difficult to provide a balanced overview based solely on these recent customer accounts.
Given the overwhelmingly negative recent feedback, there is no basis to discuss any positive promotional information for Grants Pass KOA Journey. The reviews actively discourage potential stays, with one reviewer explicitly advising others "DON'T stay here" and recommending a competitor. Local users searching for "camping near me" would be well-advised to carefully weigh these recent experiences when considering Grants Pass KOA Journey.
In conclusion, while Grants Pass KOA Journey is located in the Grants Pass, Oregon area and might appear as a "camping near me" option, recent customer reviews raise significant concerns regarding its pricing, environment (noise and size), and, most notably, its customer service. The negative experiences shared by these reviewers suggest that local users might want to explore alternative campgrounds in the vicinity, such as the Seven Feathers RV Resort mentioned as a more appealing option with better amenities and customer service for a comparable price. It is recommended that local residents research other campgrounds in the Grants Pass area and consider these recent experiences before making a decision to stay at Grants Pass KOA Journey.

Grants Pass KOA Journey Reviews
DON'T stay here. We showed up after hours, and they still wanted us to pay $76. Most KOAs are only $58 during the spring. This KOA is small and loud with barking dogs and loud neighbors. Drive 39 miles further and go to Seven feathers RV Resort. Their Customer's service is stellar. They stay open until 9 pm and have gorgeous sites, an indoor pool, and aFun casino. We don't gamble but we usually go there for their outstanding breakfast. Did I mention that Seven feathers only charges $2 more dollars than the KOA you hopefully just left.
Apr 06, 2025 · Sherry BaconCalled about availability. Told park manager I would come check out the park on my day off. She never mentioned the extreme importance of checking in the office first. Mind you it’s a Sunday afternoon. I’m a koa reward member. Signs say members or guests only. So I figured I could drive in and look at the park. A lady chases us down. Pulled her vehicle in front of our path and blocked us. Got out completely irate and freaked out on me my wife and 3 kids about us trespassing. I wouldn’t stay there if they paid me to do so after this interaction. Completely unprofessional. Park is about 15 min past grants pass.
Mar 23, 2025 · John ScogginsThis is an amazing campground. We lived the creek and waterfalls and the greeters were so nice and helpful. We will be returning here.
Apr 20, 2025 · Joseph Rutledge Frazier, IIIThis KOA advertises free wi-fi. However we could not get a signal from our space. The staff offered to move us to a different space. We went to the new space and still could not get a wi-fi signal. At that point we decided to leave because the main reason we stayed here is because we expected to get wi-fi as advertised. The owners need to upgrade their wi-fi or they need to stop advertising free wi-fi. We have not had wi-fi problems at other RV parks. This was disappointing because this is a KOA and for the price they charge one would expect a higher standard.
Oct 27, 2024 · Kirk MangrumFavorite KOA!! The whole site is great. The jump pad and playground are perfect for letting the littles get some energy out, the dog run is safe and easy to walk to, and the waterfall is gorgeous. The pond beneath the waterfall is great for swimming, though a tad difficult to access. The store is cute and the whole site is very family-friendly.
