Little Niangua Campground Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" destination that provides excellent access to water activities and comfortable camping options? Little Niangua Campground, located at 275 Taylor Rd, Roach, MO 65787, offers a delightful lakeside experience in the heart of Missouri. You can reach them at (573) 347-2728 or their mobile number +1 573-347-2728 for inquiries and reservations. This campground appears to be a popular choice for those seeking a blend of outdoor adventure and convenient amenities near the Lake of the Ozarks area.
The environment surrounding Little Niangua Campground is clearly centered around water recreation. Multiple reviewers highlight the "great access to water" for activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. This suggests that the campground is situated directly on or very near the Little Niangua River or a tributary leading to the Lake of the Ozarks, making it an ideal location for water enthusiasts. The presence of a "small beach area" further supports this, providing a designated space for swimming and enjoying the waterfront. While recent floods have reportedly caused some damage to the riverbanks, the natural appeal of the location for water-based activities remains a key feature.
In terms of camping amenities, Little Niangua Campground offers both traditional campsites and cabin rentals. For RV and tent campers, the availability of "electric and water hookups at some sights" is a significant advantage, providing added convenience for those who prefer these amenities. The lots are described as "flat" and "easy to maneuver," with "plenty of trees around" offering shade, yet without creating significant obstructions for pulling in campers. This combination of accessibility and natural shade contributes to a comfortable camping experience.
Accessing the campsites involves traveling on a path that is "100% gravel." While this generally provides good traction and drainage, one reviewer noted that it can become "bumpy" after a significant rainfall. However, the sentiment is that "most campers are pretty used to it," suggesting that this is a known characteristic of the campground and not a major deterrent for experienced campers.
For those seeking a more structured accommodation, Little Niangua Campground also offers cabin rentals. A recent stay in one of the cabins was described as "nice" overall. The cabins appear to provide a comfortable alternative to tent camping, offering a more sheltered and potentially climate-controlled environment. However, one notable aspect of the cabins mentioned in a review is the presence of bats inhabiting the tin roofs. While the reviewer still expressed a willingness to stay again, they strongly recommended bringing earplugs due to the noise created by the bats at night ("scratch, screech and scrabble"). This is an important piece of information for potential cabin renters to be aware of.
The location of Little Niangua Campground is also highlighted for its convenience to nearby attractions. It is described as "very convenient for outdoor activities at Ha Ha Tonka and the lake." Ha Ha Tonka State Park is renowned for its natural sinkholes, caves, natural bridges, and the ruins of a turn-of-the-century stone castle, offering excellent opportunities for hiking and exploration. The proximity to the Lake of the Ozarks, a major recreational lake in Missouri, provides access to a wide range of activities including boating, fishing, and various lakefront entertainment options.
In terms of other services and facilities, the bathrooms at Little Niangua Campground are described as "decent" and "nothing special," which is considered acceptable for "camping life" by one reviewer. This suggests that basic restroom facilities are available and functional, though perhaps not luxurious. Another suggestion from a cabin renter was the addition of a "dish washing sink up at the bathrooms," indicating that such a facility might currently be lacking or inconveniently located.
The level of interaction with the host seems to be minimal, with one cabin renter reporting only seeing the host once during their stay. This could be seen as either a positive for those who prefer privacy or a potential drawback for those who appreciate more regular host interaction. However, the overall positive experiences shared in the reviews suggest that the campground is generally well-managed and provides a satisfactory stay.
There is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. To learn about current pricing for campsites and cabin rentals, seasonal specials, or any other unique offerings, it would be best to contact Little Niangua Campground directly via phone or explore their website or any online booking platforms they might use.
In conclusion, Little Niangua Campground offers a compelling "camping near me" experience, particularly for those seeking easy access to water activities on the Little Niangua River and proximity to the attractions of Ha Ha Tonka State Park and the Lake of the Ozarks. The availability of campsites with electric and water hookups, along with cabin rentals, caters to different accommodation preferences. While the gravel roads might be a bit bumpy after rain and the cabin renters should be aware of the bats, the overall sentiment from past visitors is positive, emphasizing the fun and convenience of this campground. For local users looking for a lake-oriented camping getaway with access to nearby natural and recreational sites, Little Niangua Campground is definitely worth considering. Direct contact with the campground is recommended to obtain the most up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and specific amenities.

Little Niangua Campground Reviews
We’ve camped here a few times and have always had a blast. Great access to water with kayaks, canoes, and swimming. The bathrooms are decent, nothing special but it’s camping life, so.I love that they have electric and water hookups at some sights. Lots are flat and plenty of trees around but easy to maneuver and no real obstructions when pulling camper. It’s 100% gravel the whole way down the path to get to your spot and if there’s been a big rain it can be bumpy, but most campers are pretty used to it.The recent floods have damaged the banks quite a bit but obviously that’s out of the control of the property management. My kids still had a blast jumping off the banks and playing in the small beach area.
Sep 13, 2020 · Kris HandWe recently stayed in one of the cabins. Overall, the stay and cabin were nice. We only saw our host once during the course of our stay. There are bats inhabiting the tin roof of the cabins, so take ear plugs if you don't want to hear them all night. The first night was speant listening to them scratch, screech and scrabble all over the roof. The next day we invested in ear plugs while in town and slept great after that. The location was very convenient for outdoor activities at Ha Ha Tonka and the lake. A dish washing sink up at the bathrooms would be a nice addition. If ever in the area, would stay here again.
May 06, 2018 · Katie TitusThis is a great campground! We had a really fun time and loved the cabins. Comfortable beds and very clean. Nice shower room also. Plenty to do for the whole family. We did a short canoe trip and had alot of fun. I am sure it is a good place to go hunting also. We caught a few good size catfish right in the campground and had a blast! Will definitely go back!
Oct 22, 2018 · Alan HLittle Niagua campground is off the beaten path, quit, yet very busy. Great swimming area for those raised in the country... especially in Missouri rivers. Canoe's and kayak rentals available. Tent Camping and RV locations are available. There are a few cabins no indoor plumbing, it could easily sleep a family of 8-10 comfortably...2 couples and a few kids comfortably. Pet friendly. Smoke free. Really a great place to get away.
Jun 19, 2022 · Jamie JacksonI've stayed in the cabins there awesome, I've tent camped outside in the group & river side sites, the best fishing ever perfect for a bass boat(if you have one bring it) . I have tons of pics of friends & family grilling & having a good time. Animal friendly, quite. I will always go every year & bring my kids so they can experience this part of the world.
