Look Rock Campground Introduce
When your search for "camping near me" leads you to the Tallassee, Tennessee area, Look Rock Campground, located at Look Rock Campground Loop A, Tallassee, TN 37878, USA, presents itself as a newly renovated option for both RV and tent campers. Situated in a location that offers paved and fairly level sites with good privacy, this campground provides a potentially appealing base for exploring the natural beauty of the region. However, it's essential to note specific policies and logistical considerations highlighted in recent reviews to ensure a smooth and enjoyable "camping near me" experience.
The environment of Look Rock Campground appears to be undergoing positive changes with its recent renovations. One reviewer noted that the "campground is newly renovated," suggesting updated facilities and infrastructure. The sites themselves are described as "paved" and "fairly level," which are significant advantages for both RV and tent campers, providing a stable and comfortable setup. The campsites also offer "good privacy," indicating that guests can expect a degree of seclusion and space between sites, enhancing the overall camping experience. While the specific natural surroundings are not extensively detailed, Tallassee is located in East Tennessee, known for its scenic landscapes, including forests and proximity to the Smoky Mountains. However, one reviewer pointed out a potential drawback for avid hikers: "the CG is fairly far from popular hiking trails," requiring an early start to reach trailheads before they become crowded. Despite this distance, the campground itself seems to offer a pleasant and well-maintained environment for those seeking a more site-centric "camping near me" experience.
When considering "camping near me," the services and features of a campground are crucial for a comfortable and convenient stay. Look Rock Campground offers paved and fairly level campsites, which is a significant feature for ease of setup and accessibility. While "water and electric" hookups are available at some sites, the review notes that "not all sites have these," so it's essential to inquire about specific site amenities when making a reservation. The newly renovated status suggests that other facilities within the campground, such as restrooms and potentially shower facilities, may also be updated, although this is not explicitly confirmed in the provided reviews. A significant policy to be aware of, as highlighted in a negative review, is that Look Rock Campground "only rent slots to owners that will remain with the unit" and does "not allow RV Share or Outdoorsy RV rentals." This policy is stated to be in place for safety and to maintain a kid-friendly environment. This is a critical piece of information for anyone considering renting an RV to stay at this campground. For those who own their RV or are tent camping, this policy may not directly affect them, but it's an important aspect of the campground's operational guidelines. The lack of specific mention of other services like WiFi or laundry facilities in the reviews suggests that these may not be available or were not notable enough to be mentioned by recent visitors. Potential campers should inquire about the availability of essential services when booking.
The features of Look Rock Campground, based on the available information, include newly renovated facilities, paved and fairly level campsites, and good privacy between sites. The availability of water and electric hookups on some sites is a significant feature for RV campers. However, the distance from popular hiking trails might be a drawback for those primarily interested in exploring the backcountry. The campground's policy of not allowing RV rentals where the renter is not the owner staying with the unit is a crucial feature that distinguishes it from other "camping near me" options and must be considered by those planning their trip. The emphasis on being a "kid friendly campground" suggests that the environment is intended to be safe and welcoming for families with children. The physical address provided, Look Rock Campground Loop A, Tallassee, TN 37878, USA, should be used with caution when relying solely on GPS, as one reviewer encountered navigation issues leading to a different, unsafe road (Happy Hollow Rd). It is advisable to confirm directions with the campground office directly, especially when towing a large RV. The newly renovated status implies that the overall infrastructure and aesthetic of the campground are likely improved, offering a more pleasant camping environment.
Currently, no specific promotional information is available for Look Rock Campground based on the provided reviews. To inquire about any potential discounts for longer stays, seasonal rates, or other promotions, local users should contact the campground directly. The lack of a phone number in the provided information makes it challenging to get in touch directly. Potential campers may need to search online for contact details or booking information for Look Rock Campground. It is always advisable to ask about any special offers or packages that might be available to enhance your "camping near me" experience. Given the recent renovations, there might be introductory rates or specials to attract visitors to the updated facilities. Checking the campground's website or any online booking platforms where it is listed would be the best way to find information on pricing and promotions.
The reviews from real customers provide a mixed but informative perspective on Look Rock Campground as a "camping near me" option. The positive review highlights the newly renovated status, paved and level sites, and good privacy, as well as the availability of water and electric hookups on some sites. The main drawback mentioned by this reviewer is the distance from popular hiking trails. The negative review, while not based on a stay, raises a critical point about the campground's policy regarding RV rentals, which could significantly impact those planning to use such services. It also warns about potential navigation issues with GPS leading to an unsafe road. For those who own their RV or are tent camping and are aware of the distance to hiking trails, the newly renovated and private sites could be appealing. However, it is crucial to confirm site amenities and get accurate directions directly from the campground to avoid any logistical issues. The emphasis on being kid-friendly suggests a family-oriented atmosphere.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" in Tallassee, TN, Look Rock Campground offers newly renovated, paved, and fairly level campsites with good privacy and water/electric hookups available on some sites. The campground is noted for being kid-friendly. However, potential campers should be aware that it is located a fair distance from popular hiking trails and has a strict policy against RV rentals where the renter is not the owner staying with the unit. Additionally, relying solely on GPS using the physical address might lead to navigation problems, and it is recommended to obtain directions directly from the campground. For RV owners and tent campers seeking a well-maintained and private "camping near me" experience in a newly renovated setting, Look Rock Campground could be a good option, provided they take into account the distance to hiking and the specific policies of the campground. It is advisable to find the campground's contact information online to inquire about site availability, specific amenities, pricing, and directions before making a reservation.

Look Rock Campground Reviews
My 1 star rating is not because I stayed there. It's because I rented my camper to an older couple that wanted to vacation with their kids and grandchildren. Before departing with my 10k pound camper. I went on their website and pulled their physical address. I inputted into my truck. My GPS took me up a Happy Hollow Rd with 3 huge switchbacks and an elevation of 10 to 12%. After arriving at the physical address. No campground. So I called the office for directions and she said are you delivering a camper? Yes. We don't allow that here. We only rent slots to owners that will remain with the unit. She said in case of fire etc... When I continued to question this. Granted I am blocking traffic because she won't give me directions. She said we have had sex traffickers use rental services and we won't to keep this a kid friendly campground. I did my best to validate my guest. But she still said no entry. So I made a wrong turn. Then I tried to turn around on a back road. Got stuck. I couldn't turn around. Then I had to drive my camper down a dangerous & muddy road to get back to main road. I felt like if she would have given me directions and then told me when I arrived. I wouldn't have had these problems. So beware. This campground doesn't allow RV Share or Outdoorsy RV rentals & don't put your camper up Happy Hollow. It's not safe, and could cause damage to your transmission.
May 17, 2024 · Jason ReevesThe campground is newly renovated. Sites are paved, fairly level and provide good privacy. We stayed in a site with water and electric but not all site have these. Only downside is that the CG is fairly far from popular hiking trails. We had to rise at 5AM to get to trailheads before they were completely full.
May 05, 2024 · Cycling ChemistThe campground is newly reopened, the road is nicely paved, a few sites have electricity but most don't. There's a dump station for RVs, and bathrooms but no showers. Don't expect your parking space to be level, expect to use blocks for your RV or trailer. There's the sound of motorcycles enjoying the tight twisty road to get here, but otherwise it's pure nature, with turkeys wandering around and a hiking trail to the tower.
Sep 20, 2023 · Mick SheaThe campgrounds are nice, bathrooms functional for the most part. Our site had been washed out at one time, the picture didn't match the site. As others have mentioned the sites are close to each other, you will know your neighbor. The low rating is because of the close proximity to the lawless Foothill Raceway(Parkway). Loud motorcycles ruined the visit. Starts at 8:00 am till 10:00 pm. I can't recommend this campground until the Park Service gets the noise under control.
Sep 28, 2023 · climb4First of all, the reservation site for Look Rock campground needs to mention to not follow your GPS if you are bringing anything bigger than a tent. Use the PARKWAY to get up or your engine will be screwed up as the last bit is extremely steep with a trailer ( or RV).Sites are nice enough except for #41, which has power and water but also a dumpster on the site, right between your trailer and picnic table/fire pit. Picture of the site does not show it!Camphosts were very friendly and helpful!Sites clean and bathrooms are as clean as the person(s) using it before you.Quiet location and campground.
