Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Pevely, Missouri area, or perhaps an RV park within reach of St. Louis? Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort, located at 1230 Abbey Ln, Pevely, MO 63070, USA, presents a mixed picture based on recent customer reviews. While one long-term visitor had a highly positive experience, another found it less appealing, suggesting that this resort might cater to specific types of campers and RVers.
One reviewer who stayed for an extended period of four months "absolutely loved it" at Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort, even stating it was "definitely the best RV park to stay around the Saint Louis area." This positive feedback highlights the potential for a comfortable and enjoyable long-term stay, particularly for those with RVs. The fact that the owner was accommodating and managed to "squeeze" this guest in despite limited availability suggests a willingness to work with visitors and potentially a popular location, especially for RVers seeking a base near St. Louis within the "camping near me" category.
However, another reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction, stating they "would never stay here out of necessity." This strongly negative opinion suggests that the resort may not meet the expectations of all campers or RVers. This reviewer felt that even if one secures a "decent spot," the cost is exorbitant ("paying an arm and a leg"). They indicated a preference for traveling a considerable distance (50 or even 100 miles) to find "way better parking or camping," implying that Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort might be perceived as overpriced for what it offers by some.
Furthermore, this critical reviewer characterized the resort as "more trailer park than camping with an RV," unless one is particularly interested in golfing and fishing. This suggests that the environment and atmosphere might be more akin to a long-term residential RV park than a traditional campground focused on a natural outdoor experience. The emphasis on golfing and fishing as potential draws implies that these amenities are significant features of Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort. For local users searching for "camping near me" specifically to enjoy these activities, this could be a positive aspect. However, for those seeking a more traditional camping ambiance with a greater connection to nature, this might be a drawback.
The contrasting reviews make it difficult to definitively describe the environment of Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort. The positive review suggests a well-maintained and enjoyable setting for at least some visitors, particularly long-term RVers seeking proximity to St. Louis. On the other hand, the negative review paints a picture of a less desirable environment, potentially feeling more like a permanent residential area than a recreational campground, unless the specific amenities of golf and fishing are a priority.
In terms of services and features, the mention of golfing and fishing by the negative reviewer indicates that these are likely key amenities offered at the resort. This could include access to a golf course (possibly on-site or nearby) and facilities for fishing (perhaps a lake or pond within the property or access to a local fishing spot). These features could be a significant draw for local users searching for "camping near me" with specific recreational interests.
The positive review implies that the resort is equipped to handle RVs, given the four-month stay. This suggests the availability of RV hookups, such as electricity, water, and sewer. The mention of the owner's willingness to "squeeze" someone in also suggests that there are designated spots or a system for managing occupancy. However, neither review provides details about other potential amenities like restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, or communal areas. Local users considering Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort for their "camping near me" needs should inquire about the full range of services and facilities available.
The negative reviewer's comment about the cost ("paying an arm and a leg") suggests that the pricing at Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort might be higher compared to other options in the region. This is an important consideration for local users when evaluating their "camping near me" choices and budget. It would be prudent to inquire about the rates for different types of stays (short-term vs. long-term) and the cost of any additional amenities like golf or fishing access.
As no promotional information or specific details about the resort's offerings are provided beyond the reviews, local users interested in Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort should contact them directly at (636) 475-4474 or +1 636-475-4474. Inquire about the types of campsites and RV spots available, the amenities offered (including golf and fishing), the pricing structure, and the overall environment of the resort. Given the contrasting reviews, it is essential to gather detailed information to determine if this "camping near me" option aligns with individual preferences and needs.
For local residents in the Pevely and St. Louis areas seeking "camping near me" or an RV park, Oak Valley Campground & RV Resort presents a complex picture. While one long-term guest had a very positive experience, another found it overpriced and not conducive to a traditional camping feel, unless golfing and fishing are priorities. Potential visitors should weigh these contrasting opinions and contact the resort directly to ascertain if its specific environment, amenities, and pricing meet their expectations for a local outdoor stay.

Nov 26, 2024 · Jacob HamiltonThis campground is mostly permanent campers. It's on top of a huge hill, so if your pulling a large RV be aware of that. Our F350 Diesel struggled a bit with empty tanks. The bathrooms are pretty gross. Caked hair in the drains and all over the showers so water will not drain, floors were dirty. It's a shame too because they seem like they were remodeled but there is no cleaning. We came on a Wednesday and left Sunday morning. Overall it's ok in a pinch. The saving grace is that it has a pool, golf course, and you can fish for free in the pond with paid camping. We paid $40 night
