Pecan Grove Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Talladega County, Alabama area, Pecan Grove, located at an address in Talladega County, AL 35096, USA, is a potential option, particularly for those visiting for events like the Talladega Race. However, recent feedback from campers provides important insights into the realities of this campground that local users should consider when making their plans.
One of the key points raised by a camper concerns the actual usable space of the campsites. While advertised as being 20x40 feet, at least one site was found to have a significant obstruction: a pecan tree located directly in the middle of it. This made setting up camp, especially for those in larger vehicles like RVs, a considerable challenge. The reviewer, who was camping in a tent, noted that it was manageable for their setup but strongly advised those with RVs to confirm the layout of their specific site beforehand to avoid potential difficulties upon arrival. This discrepancy between the advertised size and the actual usable space due to natural obstacles is a crucial factor for prospective campers to be aware of.
Another area of concern highlighted in the reviews relates to the enforcement of quiet hours. Pecan Grove is reportedly advertised as having quiet hours between midnight and 6 am. However, a recent visitor experienced a lack of enforcement of this policy, with generators running throughout the night. This could significantly impact the camping experience for those seeking a peaceful and restful night's sleep. If quiet during these hours is a priority for you, it's important to be aware that this may not be consistently enforced at Pecan Grove based on recent experiences.
For those visiting specifically for the Talladega Race, one reviewer noted that the "sites are decent size," which could be a positive aspect for accommodating groups and gear associated with such events. However, this same reviewer also pointed out a significant lack of infrastructure: the absence of a combined bathhouse facility with both bathrooms and showers in the same building. This could mean separate and potentially less convenient arrangements for these essential facilities. Campers who value integrated and easily accessible bathhouse amenities should take this into consideration.
Furthermore, another significant limitation mentioned by a visitor was the lack of electric and water hookups at the campsites. This is a crucial factor for RV campers and those who rely on these utilities for comfort and convenience during their stay. While the absence of these hookups might be acceptable for basic tent camping, it could be a major drawback for others. It's essential to be prepared for dry camping conditions if you choose Pecan Grove, meaning you'll need to rely on your own power sources and water storage.
Despite these infrastructural and environmental concerns, one positive aspect consistently mentioned in the reviews is the friendliness of the people running the gate and assisting campers. This suggests that while the physical facilities might have shortcomings, the staff is welcoming and helpful, which can contribute to a more positive overall experience. Good customer service can often mitigate some of the frustrations arising from less-than-ideal site conditions or missing amenities.
For local users considering Pecan Grove for "camping near me," it's crucial to weigh these points carefully. If you are planning to camp in a tent and are flexible about campsite obstructions, prepared for potential noise outside of advertised quiet hours, and do not require electric or water hookups, Pecan Grove might serve as a basic campsite, particularly if you are attending events at the Talladega Superspeedway. The decent site sizes could also be advantageous for groups.
However, if you are camping in an RV, require water and electric hookups, value designated quiet hours, or prefer integrated bathhouse facilities, Pecan Grove, based on recent feedback, may not meet your needs. It would be highly advisable to contact the campground directly to inquire about the specific layout of your assigned campsite, the current enforcement of quiet hours, and any plans for facility upgrades. Asking about the availability of water and filling stations might also be beneficial.
In conclusion, Pecan Grove in Talladega County, AL, offers a location that is convenient for some visitors, particularly those attending events at the nearby racetrack. The staff is reported to be friendly. However, potential campers should be aware of reported issues such as pecan trees obstructing campsites, lack of enforcement of quiet hours, the absence of combined bathhouse facilities, and the lack of electric and water hookups at the sites. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these limitations and seek further information from the campground directly to ensure it aligns with their camping requirements and expectations.

Pecan Grove Reviews
Camp site is advertised as 20x40, but came with a...pecan tree right in the middle of it, so setup was a challenge. Luckily we were in a tent, not an RV. Would be best to confirm beforehand if you're hauling a rig. Also advertised as quiet between midnight and 6am, but no enforcement. Generators ran all night.
Apr 27, 2025 · C SabatinelliWent for the Talladega Race. Sites are decent size. They really need to build a bathhouse with bathrooms and showers in same building. Missed not having Electric and water, but the people running gate and campers were very nice!
