Quilcene Campground Introduce
For local users and travelers in the Olympic Peninsula region searching for "camping near me," Quilcene Campground, located on Quilcene Park Rd, Quilcene, WA 98376, USA, offers a convenient and accessible option. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground presents a mix of appealing factors and some considerations to keep in mind when planning your stay.
One of the notable advantages of Quilcene Campground is its proximity to essential amenities. As one reviewer, a motorcyclist, highlighted, the campground is within easy walking distance of an espresso stand, Quilbilly's Grill, and a market. This convenience is a significant benefit for campers who appreciate having access to food, beverages, and basic supplies without needing to drive. Whether you're looking for a morning coffee, a quick meal, or to stock up on essentials, these nearby options add considerable value to the camping experience at Quilcene Campground.
The environment of Quilcene Campground appears to be well-maintained and pleasant. One visitor who stopped by to stretch their legs described it as "very clean" and a "nice place to camp, have a picnic, stop n rest a bit!" This suggests that the campground offers a welcoming and tidy setting for outdoor activities and relaxation. The presence of a "covered eating area," praised for its "cool" and well-crafted design, indicates a thoughtful amenity that provides shelter and a comfortable space for enjoying meals and socializing, regardless of the weather.
However, potential campers should be aware of a significant environmental factor mentioned in one of the reviews: the campground's proximity to Highway 101. The reviewer noted that you will "have to deal with highway 101 right there," implying that noise from passing traffic could be a consideration, especially for those seeking a completely secluded and quiet natural retreat. This is an important factor to weigh, particularly if you are sensitive to noise during your camping experience.
In terms of services and facilities, the reviews provide some insight. One camper mentioned the presence of an "outhouse toilet" and the absence of showers. This indicates that the bathroom facilities are basic, which might be a drawback for some campers who prefer more modern amenities. It's essential to be prepared for these limited facilities if you plan to stay at Quilcene Campground.
Despite the proximity to the highway and the basic bathroom facilities, one reviewer who stayed over a summer weekend noted that the campground was not crowded, with only two other groups camping at the same time. This could be a significant advantage for those seeking a quieter camping experience, especially during peak season when other campgrounds might be more crowded. The reviewer also identified "Campsite 5" as the best, describing it as "private and furthest removed from the highway," which suggests that some campsites offer a more secluded and less noisy experience than others. This is valuable information for anyone planning to book a site at Quilcene Campground.
An interesting and unique feature mentioned in one of the reviews is the presence of an "old tractor," described as "cool." While not a typical camping amenity, this adds a touch of character to the campground and might be of interest to visitors who appreciate historical or quirky elements in their surroundings. It suggests that Quilcene Campground might have a rustic charm beyond just a place to pitch a tent.

For local users looking for "camping near me" that offers convenience and a clean environment, Quilcene Campground presents a viable option. The easy access to an espresso stand, grill, and market is a significant plus, especially for those who prefer not to cook all their meals at the campsite or who need to resupply. The covered eating area is another commendable feature that enhances the comfort of the camping experience. However, potential campers should be prepared for the noise from nearby Highway 101 and the basic outhouse toilet facilities without showers. The tip about Campsite 5 being the most private and furthest from the highway is valuable for those seeking a quieter spot.
In conclusion, Quilcene Campground offers a blend of convenience and basic camping in a clean and accessible location near Quilcene, WA. Its proximity to Highway 101 and the limited bathroom facilities are important considerations. However, the nearby amenities, the covered eating area, and the potential for a less crowded experience, particularly at a site like number 5, make it a noteworthy option for local users and travelers seeking "camping near me" in the Olympic Peninsula region. Further research might be beneficial to understand the layout of the campground and any specific policies or recommendations for mitigating highway noise.

Mar 01, 2020 · Roguegunn WorksBeautiful place! Price isn’t bad, close to the road but if you park in back road noise isn’t bad. We have a 42’ 5th wheel, and we never would have gotten in here if my husband wasn’t an excellent driver. The spots are big enough, but the road is fairly narrow and lined with huge trees. Wouldn’t suggest it if you not very comfortable backing up and repositioning your 5th wheel
Jun 09, 2018 · Karen BealsI love this campground because it's quiet and convenient. Close to the Olympic national forest. Not pretentious. Near town. There is always space. It's not super exotic, but it is very comfortable and accessible. I have only had positive experiences here.
Oct 28, 2017 · Joshua MerryNice little campground! Pretty clean and right off the road/easy to get to. The interior sites are pretty open without much privacy. I recommend the sites in the back. We stayed in #9 up front, which had some trees between the other sites but it's by a water spigot that has locals filling up all night. Kept us up and woke us up at all hours, that's why 3 stars
