I would like to respond to the review by Daniel Castro. I’m so very sorry that he was disappointed by his stay at the Bass Pond. I had no idea he was so disgruntled, but would have worked with him, had I known. I had no idea he felt the way he did. When he first arrived, he did sink into the gravel and we moved him to a more stable spot and he did say he was pleased with the new site.We had only been open a few months when he arrived and were still, and still are… a work in progress, making continual improvements as needed. We have no refund policy own all fees paid.During the month of March, when Daniel was a guest, we had daily rain in this area, which meant that the excavators could not get their heavy equipment into the campground to compact the gravel or perform any other work that was needed. I communicate by text each time that work will be done in the Campground, so guests are aware. The Bass Pond was created for those who are traveling and need an overnight stay for the night before resuming their journey the next day. It was not meant for long-term stays, although many have come and loved the hospitality and kindness we show our guests and asked to stay longer. There are no permanent residential sites available. We have been described as a ‘little paradise’, a wonderful spot, a welcoming space, and the perfect stop, just to mention a few. I constantly receive notes of praise and thanks from guests left in the dropbox.I invested my total life’s savings into the Campground and also mortgaged my home, to provide a quality place at a reasonable price. It was professionally excavated, with underground, plumbing and electric by companies who are licensed and bonded. There were many months of planning and thought put into the campground, but nothing was done by simply throwing gravel on the dirt. The septic system designed just for the Campground. Everything was inspected and approved by the local government. The gravel is compacted when added by the excavators. However, it does take time, and if a guest needs to stop overnight, my excavation company works around that, and it may take a day or more to come back as they are working other jobs. The needs of our guests come first. All guests are made aware that there are no amenities other than the water, electric, and septic. It is plainly stated on all descriptions on every website where our campground is listed. There are 2 small cabins on site, that make it tight for longer rigs to pull out when leaving. Therefore, we like to help each guest park, ensuring that it is as easy as possible. When we can, we prefer to park shorter rigs in these sites. We are very ‘hands-on’, customer service oriented, and want to help as much as possible.I also want to address the eviction that was stated. This was in one of the cabins, not an RV guest, who had recently had surgery on his legs, and it was difficult to walk. However, he did drive, the dogs were small, and could be put in the car and driven across the parking lot to the dog walking area that is CLEARLY marked with signs. The dogs were ‘ doing their business’ all over the porch, and it was highly unsanitary, as well as a foul smell. A monthly rental fee is offered for weekly maids service, and one without. This guest chose to opt out of the maid service.Upon the guest’s departure, There was dog feces found on the ceiling fan and walls. The toilet and bathroom were filthy, and the sheets had never been washed or changed, and had to be disposed of. The metal mattress slats on the day bed were bent, as if a heavy weight had been placed on it for a long time. The cabin is about the size of a hotel room… 250 ft.². It took 2 people and 3+ days to clean andco-vid regulation sanitize everything to its original condition, which was brand new, and just opened for rental. No one had stayed in the cabin before this guest. - Sharon Bass (Sharon P.)

The Bass Pond Introduce

For local users who are primarily travelers needing a convenient and basic "camping near me" option for an overnight stop, The Bass Pond, located at 381 Co Rd 342, Sweetwater, TN 37874, USA, presents a straightforward solution. According to the owner's response to a less favorable review, The Bass Pond was specifically created to cater to those traveling and requiring an overnight stay before continuing their journey the next day. While some guests have extended their stays due to the hospitality, it's important for local users to understand the campground's primary purpose and the level of amenities offered when considering it as part of their "camping near me" search.

The environment of The Bass Pond, based on the available information, appears to be functional and geared towards providing a stopping point for travelers. The owner's comments mention that the campground was newly opened at the time of one review and was still undergoing improvements. There was an issue with gravel compaction due to persistent rain, which prevented heavy equipment from accessing the site. However, the owner communicated these issues to guests. The description of the campground being a "little paradise" and a "wonderful spot" from other guests suggests that despite the ongoing work, the environment offers a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, particularly for a short stay. Its location in Sweetwater, Tennessee, makes it a potentially convenient stop for those traveling through the region.

The services and features at The Bass Pond are explicitly stated by the owner to be basic, catering primarily to the needs of overnight RV travelers. Key services and features include:

  • Basic Hookups: The campground offers water, electric, and septic hookups at each site, which are essential for RV travelers needing to service their vehicles overnight.
  • Assistance with Parking: Due to the presence of two small cabins on-site that can make maneuvering larger rigs tight, the owners are very "hands-on" and customer service oriented, offering assistance with parking to ensure it is as easy as possible for each guest. Shorter rigs are often preferred in sites near the cabins.
  • Focus on Hospitality: Despite the limited amenities, the owner emphasizes the hospitality and kindness shown to guests, with many praising the welcoming space and the perfect stop provided.

It is equally important to note the services and features that are *not* available at The Bass Pond, as clearly stated by the owner:

  • Limited Amenities: Guests are made aware that there are no amenities other than the basic water, electric, and septic hookups. This implies the absence of facilities such as restrooms, showers (other than potentially within an RV), laundry, recreational areas, or other common campground amenities.
  • Not Designed for Long-Term Stays: While some guests have stayed longer and enjoyed the hospitality, the campground's primary design is for overnight stays for travelers. There are no permanent residential sites available.

The features of The Bass Pond, based on the provided information, are:

  • Convenient for Overnight Travel: Its primary feature is its suitability as a stopover for those on a journey.
  • Basic Essential Hookups: Providing water, electric, and septic services for RVs.
  • Personalized Assistance: The owners offer hands-on help with parking, especially for larger rigs.
  • Positive Guest Experiences (for short stays): Despite one negative review related to the ongoing development and environmental conditions during a rainy period, other guests have described it as a "little paradise" with "awesome people."
  • Ongoing Improvements: The owner indicates a commitment to making continual improvements to the campground as needed.

Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the context of The Bass Pond. However, for local users who might be passing through the area or have short-term RV needs, it would be prudent to inquire about their pricing and any potential short-stay rates. Given its focus on overnight travelers, The Bass Pond's pricing is described by one satisfied customer as being "in line with my expectations" when compared to options like parking lots or rest areas with no hookups. Potential pricing considerations might include:

  • Nightly Rates: The primary pricing structure would likely be a per-night fee for the use of the hookups.
  • Short-Term Discounts: While not guaranteed, there might be considerations for very brief stays or for travelers just needing a few hours to rest and service their RV.

Local users considering The Bass Pond should weigh its primary purpose as an overnight travel stop against their specific camping needs. If you are looking for a destination with extensive amenities for a longer stay, this campground, by the owner's own admission, is not designed for that. However, if you are an RVer passing through Sweetwater, Tennessee, and need a convenient location with basic hookups for a night before continuing your travels, The Bass Pond appears to offer a welcoming and functional option. The positive feedback regarding the people and the overall experience for overnight stays suggests that it fulfills its intended purpose well.

The owner's detailed response to a negative review provides valuable transparency about the campground's development stage, its intended use, and the services it offers (and does not offer). This level of communication can be reassuring for potential guests, setting clear expectations about what to expect during their stay. The comparison to staying at a parking lot or rest area highlights the value proposition of having basic hookups and a dedicated space, even without extensive amenities, for overnight RV travelers.

In conclusion, for local users searching for "camping near me" with the specific need for a convenient overnight RV stop with basic water, electric, and septic hookups, The Bass Pond in Sweetwater, Tennessee, is a viable option. While it does not offer the full range of amenities found at traditional campgrounds or RV resorts, its focus on providing essential services for travelers, coupled with the reported hospitality of the owners, makes it a worthwhile consideration for short-term stays. Contact them directly for current rates and availability, keeping in mind its primary function as a welcoming overnight stop for those on the road.
