Timber Trails Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Illinois, Timber Trails Campground, located at 1276 Matts Ln #3316, Mulberry Grove, IL 62262, USA, offers a quiet and spacious camping experience, particularly well-suited for overnight travelers and those with larger RVs. You can reach them at (618) 326-8264 or their mobile number, +1 618-326-8264, to inquire about availability and make reservations.
Based on customer reviews, Timber Trails Campground is characterized by its peaceful environment, especially noted during the off-season. One reviewer described it as a "quiet park," suggesting a tranquil atmosphere that can be highly appealing to those seeking a restful stop. The campground also boasts "a lot of trees everywhere," indicating a shaded and potentially scenic environment. This abundance of trees contributes to a natural ambiance and can provide welcome relief from the sun during warmer months.
A significant feature of Timber Trails Campground is its ability to accommodate large RVs. One reviewer with a 38-foot 5th wheel and a large Ford truck was placed in a "nice long site" that allowed them to stay overnight without the need to unhook their vehicles. This ease of access and spaciousness of the sites is a major advantage for RV travelers, making it a convenient stopover. Another reviewer also mentioned a "very long pull thru" site that was "level side to side," further emphasizing the campground's suitability for larger rigs and ensuring a comfortable setup.
While the campground caters well to RVs, some aspects of the layout might require consideration. One reviewer noted that the bathhouse was "too far" for them to walk to, suggesting that the campground might be spread out. Another mentioned that finding the office upon arrival was "hard" due to a lack of a visible sign and a bit of a walk. These points indicate that while the sites themselves are accommodating, navigation within the campground might require some initial effort.
The location of the trash dumpster at the exit was also mentioned as "inconvenient" by one reviewer, as it required getting out and walking, without the ability to pull a camper directly up to it. Similarly, the office registration process involved a walk without being able to pull the camper directly to it. These logistical details are worth noting for planning purposes.
Despite these minor inconveniences, the staff at Timber Trails Campground are praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. Jodi in the office was described as "very nice and accommodating." When the campground lacked a map, Jodi personally drove down to the reviewer's site to direct them to the bathhouse, showcasing a commitment to guest service. This personal touch can significantly enhance the overall experience, especially when navigating a new campground.
Another notable characteristic of Timber Trails Campground is the presence of "a lot of seasonal sites" with unique, homemade structures built around them, using wood and metal panels for protection against the elements. This suggests a community of longer-term residents who have personalized their spaces, potentially contributing to a unique and interesting visual landscape within the campground. However, one reviewer noted that their front view was of a cornfield, indicating that the scenery might vary depending on the specific campsite.
Timber Trails Campground is also pet-friendly. One reviewer mentioned seeing a "beautiful boxer in the office" who was "very friendly," indicating a welcoming attitude towards animals. This is a significant plus for travelers who like to bring their pets along on their camping adventures.
The second reviewer, who stayed in a long, level pull-thru site, described the campground as "beautiful private" and "very quiet." They also noted good T-Mobile connection and that the campground was "very well maintained" with a "convenient dump station and trash facilities." Importantly, they highlighted the campground's convenient location, being "only two easy miles off I-70," making it an easily accessible stop for those traveling along the interstate.
Considering the feedback from multiple reviewers, Timber Trails Campground offers a blend of tranquility, spaciousness, and convenience, particularly for those traveling through or with larger RVs. The abundance of trees provides a pleasant environment, and the staff are noted for their friendliness. While some aspects of the layout, such as the office location and the distance to the bathhouse from some sites, might require a bit of adjustment, the overall positive experiences, especially the quiet atmosphere and accommodating sites, make it a worthwhile consideration for local users and those passing through the area.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Timber Trails Campground in Mulberry Grove, IL, provides a quiet and spacious option with easy access off I-70. Its long, level pull-thru sites are particularly beneficial for RVs, and the pet-friendly policy is a significant advantage for animal lovers. While it's a campground rather than a hotel, it offers the essential amenities for a comfortable stay, and the friendly staff are there to assist. The presence of seasonal sites with unique structures adds an interesting element to the environment. If you value a peaceful setting and ample space for your camping setup, Timber Trails Campground is a strong contender for your next outdoor adventure or overnight stop.

Timber Trails Campground Reviews
This is a campground, not a hotel. We were put in a nice long site with our 38 foot 5th wheel and big Ford truck, so we didn't have to unhook just to spend one night. We didn't use any of the facilities. We wanted to use the bath house but it was too far for us to walk. When we pulled in to register, it was hard to find the office. It was a little bit of a walk and there wasn't a sign. Just signs showing how far it was. The trash dumpster was inconvenient at the exit also. You couldn't pull your camper up to the office or the dumpster, without getting out and walking. It was a quiet park, but it was off season. There were a lot of trees every where. We asked for just electric and water hookups. The site was level side to side. Jodi was very nice and accommodating in the office. They don't have a map of the park so she had to drive down to our site to direct us to where the bath house was.A lot of seasonal sites are here with home made built structures around them, made of wood with metal panels, to protect against the elements. Our front view was of a cornfield. The sites were very roomy. They do allow pets. They have a beautiful boxer in the office and he was very friendly. We would return to this campground if we were traveling through again.
Oct 25, 2024 · S B.Beautiful private campground with sites for overnight travelers. We had a very long pull thru that was level side to side. Very quiet. Good T-Mobile connection. Very well maintained with a convenient dump station and trash facilities. Only two easy miles off I-70
Sep 16, 2024 · Mark MorganWe came here on a family road trip as our first destination. Arriving on Tuesday, the grounds were pretty quiet, with only a few other campers near us. We are in an rv so the quality of the hookups mattered. They have water and electric, but no sewage, which didn’t prove to be an issue. The bathrooms were alright, not very clean but that was to be expected. The lakes were nice, and the views were great. We saw a great sunset.
Jun 12, 2024 · Alex SmithThis was a great place for an overnight stop. It's a little bit off the freeway so not as much road noise as some places. The sites were nice in size. Cost for an overnight was great! The owner was super friendly and helpful.
Jun 07, 2024 · Elizabeth MerrittWe stayed here a single night with our 3 kids on a cross country road trip - amazing!!! I was so pleased with location, it had multiple playgrounds and activities for the kids, a big beautiful cornfield lining one side of the property, and some of the prettiest trees I’ve seen. I took a walk with my dog in the AM to explore and was not disappointed with the location at all. Clean, incredibly priced, and Jody couldn’t be sweeter! We arrived late and she was still happy to help us locate our campsite and even drove us there. There are some permanent campers and they have adorable setups that the kids loved checking out too (age 5, 5, 9). Highly recommend!
