The environment surrounding the Unadilla / I-88 / Oneonta KOA Journey seems to offer a blend of accessibility and natural beauty. Its location near I-88 suggests convenient access for travelers passing through the area, making it a potentially ideal stopover. One reviewer specifically mentioned wanting to stay in a "peaceful and relaxing area of New York" and found this KOA to be a "great decision," further highlighting the potential for a tranquil environment. The same reviewer also noted "the beauty of the mountains," indicating that the campground benefits from scenic mountain views, which can contribute significantly to a relaxing and enjoyable outdoor experience. While proximity to a major highway can sometimes imply some noise, this KOA seems to strike a balance by also being described as "quite and peaceful," suggesting that the natural surroundings help to create a serene atmosphere despite its accessible location.
In terms of services, one positive review specifically commends the "very impressed with staff, polite and attentive." This suggests that guest service is a priority for the campground, which can greatly enhance the overall camping experience. The same reviewer also mentioned staying in a "rental camper" that was "clean, and ready for a great stay," indicating that renting an on-site camper is an available accommodation option. This can be particularly appealing for those who do not own their own RV or camping equipment but still want to enjoy a comfortable camping experience. The availability of rental campers adds a significant convenience factor for many travelers. Being part of the KOA network often implies certain standards and amenities, although specific details are not provided in the reviews. Its location near a major interstate makes it a convenient stop for those "passing through," as mentioned in one review. However, the positive feedback about the peaceful environment and mountain views also suggests that it can be a destination in itself for those who "want to relax and enjoy the beauty of the mountains for awhile." The availability of "rental camper" accommodations is a significant feature, providing a hassle-free way to enjoy the camping experience without the need to transport and set up your own equipment. The proximity to "shopping" mentioned in one review adds another layer of convenience, suggesting that essential supplies and perhaps local attractions are easily accessible from the campground. Being a KOA Journey campground typically means it offers a comfortable overnight stay with amenities geared towards travelers on the road.
It is important to also consider the less positive feedback provided in the reviews to gain a balanced understanding. One reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with the campground's lack of compassion regarding a deposit refund due to an unforeseen RV breakdown. This review highlights a situation where the campground's policies were perceived as rigid and lacking in empathy. While understanding policies is important, this feedback suggests that in certain circumstances, flexibility and customer service could be improved. This perspective should be taken into account alongside the positive review when making a decision.

Unadilla / I-88 / Oneonta KOA Journey Reviews
I understand policies but there are definitely situations that compassion goes a long way and this place showed me none. I broke down 8 hours away from this KOA. Waiting for a part for my RV. The shop keeps saying "it's coming". After 4 days and spending $500 in hotel expenses I've decided to ask for my deposit back on the KOA. I have no idea when I would make it. I called them all week to keep them in the loop. They won't refund me now. Why, it was one night during the week? I don't know, other than no compassion and greed. What is going on in this world that make people this way.
May 02, 2025 · Heather McKeeVery impressed with staff, polite and attentive. Stayed in a rental camper, camper was clean, and ready for a great stay. Husband and I went for vacation wanted to stay in a peaceful and relaxing area of New York. Great decision to stay here. Highly recommend if passing through or want to relax and enjoy the beauty of the mountains for awhile, close to shopping but yet quite and peaceful. The view was amazing!
Oct 05, 2024 · Pauline RiddleThe staff is super helpful! Quiet at night for some awesome sleeping. You can see deer on the upper field. The grounds are well maintained . The pool is great! We highly recommend this for passing through or for a long stay. Great breweries are close. Walmart DELIVERS HERE GAME CHANGER! We will stay again! Thank you Mike and Kathy the hosts of this KOA!
Sep 03, 2024 · Jodi baldwinWe are seasonal campers at this KOA. This has been the worst season. We either have had brown/black water or no water at all since May 1, 2024. The electricity is not ample enough for all the campers that are here. There is no full hookup. You are supposed to get pumped out twice a week. But you have to beg for that to happen. I am very disappointed with this place. Camping is supposed to be fun and relaxing not a bunch of aggravation. It was not worth the $1900 for the season to stay here. I would not recommend camping here.
Aug 06, 2024 · Suzanne BernhardtWe had a great time at this campground! The owners are accommodating and super friendly. The grounds are well kept and the facilities clean. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it so we could catch the craft show, live music and food vendors on the large front lawn of the campground on a perfect summer day. We certainly plan to return.Follow the KOA signs and not GPS when exiting 88.
