Please note that the following information is based on publicly available reviews and may not represent the entirety of the campground experience for every visitor.
Based on recent feedback, it appears that Walnut Lake Campgrounds has faced significant challenges that potential visitors should be aware of. Several reviewers have expressed considerable dissatisfaction with their experiences.
One long-term resident who moved to the campground for work in July 2024 detailed a series of issues. These included a problem with their electrical box in August, where the owner reportedly provided a replacement and expected the camper to install it themselves, without reimbursement for the necessary wiring and materials. This reviewer, not being an electrician, had to rely on the kindness of another camper for assistance and incurred personal expenses that were allegedly not covered by the management.
Further concerns were raised regarding the environmental conditions, particularly during the winter months. According to the review, the northeast side of the park experienced severe flooding in January, leading to campers being significantly submerged. Photographic evidence reportedly showed campers sunk several inches into the ground due to the water levels, with some residents becoming stranded. The reviewer indicated that even accessing their vehicle required wearing muck boots due to the extent of the water outside their camper steps.
Service-related issues were also highlighted. The contract reportedly stated that tank pumping would be done weekly for areas without full hook-ups. However, the reviewer claimed to have had to pay for an outside company to pump their black tank on three separate occasions due to it being full, and that they and others were threatened with eviction for taking this action.
In terms of management interaction, the reviewer described negative encounters with the owner, Stacey, alleging instances of being cursed at over simple miscommunications. Conversely, positive remarks were made about the granddaughter and her boyfriend, who were described as very nice.
Another review echoed similar sentiments, describing the campground as "HORRIBLE!!" This reviewer mentioned difficulties navigating the roads within the campground, stating that potholes were so significant that a small car could be lost in them, requiring the use of four-wheel drive to reach their camper. They also corroborated the issue of unemptied black water tanks for over two weeks and felt that the pricing for tent sites was excessively high given the conditions.
It's important for local users searching for "camping near me" to consider these recent experiences when evaluating Walnut Lake Campgrounds. Walnut Lake Campgrounds Reviews
I absolutely would never recommend this place, maybe as a pass through overnight stop but nothing else.I moved here in July 2024 for work, it had been nothing but problems. In August our box melted our plug and the owner (Stacey) sent her husband over with a new box that he proceeded to toss in my hands and I QUOTE “here ya go, wire it up”Mind you, I’m not an electrician. Thankfully there was one a few campers down and he was kind enough to do it. I should mention that I spent over $150 buying wire and material for this that the owner REFUSED to reimburse me for and they were adamant the responsibility was on me. Another QUOTE from the husband. “I’m not gonna pay $500 for my electrician to come do this”Let’s fast forward to January, the entire NE side of this park was COMPLETELY UNDERWATER. See attached pics for the proof of how deep my camper sunk. I want to point out my camper when I had it set I had my tires 2 inches ABOVE ground. It has since sank around 5. There’s several campers stranded because of how bad it is.When you get there she tells you that the pumping of tanks will be done weekly, (it’s in the contract) as they don’t have full hook up available in the areas I was. 3 different times I had to pay for an outside company to pump because my black tank was full to the top of my toilet. Myself and others were threatened with eviction for doing this.In the pictures you can also see how deep the water was right OUTSIDE my steps. I had to wear my muck boots to get to and from my car in the mornings. She has also cussed myself and others out on multiple occasions for very simple miscommunication issues. The granddaughter and her boyfriend are very nice, but Stacey is absolutely horrible. I’ve included some pictures and I know I’m forgetting things. All in all, I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.I’m beyond happy I was able to move into another campground. It is very much the Flint or Detroit of campgrounds in the area.
Feb 24, 2025 · Justin ReynoldsThis place is HORRIBLE!! My boyfriend was staying there for work, and I promise you we had to put the truck in 4-wheel drive just to get to our camper. The road in and out has pot holes big enough to lose a small car in!! The lady is rude and they left the black water tanks u emptied for over two weeks!! The tent is sky high for the conditions of this place!! Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!
Feb 13, 2025 · Melissa RichardsonWalnut lake campground LLC brings in over $35,000 a month from her campers and can't even upkeep the campground and her equipment. Neglecting her campers as well as depriving them of quality of life. Very unprofessional and rude. Way to go Stacy Everhart.
Jan 13, 2025 · Mikayla WardThe campground is ok but I have never stayed or visited a campground that the so-called host (curly, red head) that approached me and was rude that i was driving over 5mph which i wasn't. I was out of town and had no idea who she was and why she needed to ask questions. I also figured that it was because my friend and I (girls) were visiting my cousin (guy) that was staying there for work and paying rent but thought we were trouble and had to know where we were going. After that experience, my cousin is going to stay somewhere else.
Oct 01, 2023 · Christine BayesOur company had several crew members stay here for several months while building Transmission Powerlines for Honda Battery Plant. Stacey made our experience a great one. I definitely didn't mind calling this place home when I was away from home. Loved the outdoorsy feel and really enjoyed the lake view while relaxing on my days off. Way, way better than staying at a hotel. Definitely got lucky finding this campground!
