4.0
A nice place. The sites are all pull through and wide enough. Cable is a plus. They send a your information through email so you can even show up if the office is closed. The 200 row is a little short for our 40' fifth wheel if we unhook so I had to park sideways. Not a big deal but they state "No parking on the grass." Very convenient to freeway! - Dennis Derichs

Backwater RV Park Introduce

If you are searching for "RV parks near me" in the Abbeville, Alabama area, Backwater RV Park, located at 13571 AL-95, Abbeville, AL 36310, USA, is an option that warrants careful consideration based on recent customer feedback. You can contact them at (334) 791-3983 or +1 334-791-3983 for inquiries. While some aspects of the park are noted as positive, significant concerns have been raised regarding site size, the prevalence of permanent residents, restrictive rules, and staff demeanor. This introduction aims to provide an objective analysis of the park based on the available reviews to help you make an informed decision.

The environment surrounding Backwater RV Park is characterized by its "very convenient to freeway" location. This accessibility can be a significant advantage for travelers seeking a quick stopover or those wanting easy access to the surrounding area. However, the reviews do not provide details about the natural environment or scenic beauty of the park itself. One reviewer mentioned a "Lake View" area, but noted that it is largely occupied by permanent residents. This suggests that the visual appeal and recreational access associated with a lake view might be limited for transient RVers.

The internal environment of the RV park has received mixed reviews. While one guest described it as a "nice place," another explicitly stated, "Absolutely not a resort, let alone the luxury resort the website promises!" This discrepancy highlights a potential mismatch between the park's self-promotion and the actual experience of some visitors. The sites are described as "very narrow with maybe 2 feet of grass between each site," indicating a lack of space and potentially limited privacy between neighbors. This close proximity contrasts sharply with the expectation of a spacious resort setting.

In terms of services, Backwater RV Park offers some basic amenities. One positive aspect mentioned is that "The sites are all pull through and wide enough" for maneuvering, although one reviewer with a 40' fifth wheel found the "200 row is a little short" and had to park sideways when unhooked. The availability of "Cable is a plus" for those who value television access. The park also utilizes email for sending guest information, which allows for convenient late arrivals if the office is closed.

However, significant limitations in services and amenities are also reported. Despite claims of being a resort, the park lacks features typically associated with such establishments. Campfires, even propane fires, are "not allowed," which can detract from the traditional camping experience for many RVers. The reviewer who mentioned this also noted "several other weird RV park rules" detailed in a five-page "Guidelines" document emailed to guests, suggesting a potentially restrictive environment. While "the bathrooms and laundry" are acknowledged as "nice" and a positive feature, this seems to be one of the few redeeming aspects beyond the basic site infrastructure.

The features of Backwater RV Park are somewhat contradictory based on the reviews. The pull-through sites are generally seen as a positive, offering ease of access for various RV sizes (with the noted exception of longer units in the 200 row). The inclusion of cable TV is another mentioned feature. However, the narrowness of the sites and the lack of typical RV park amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, pools, or recreational areas are significant drawbacks. The heavy presence of "permanent residents" in the "Lake View" area, despite a "No parking on the grass" rule that appears to be inconsistently enforced due to the sideways parking of a large RV, contributes to a "mobile home park vibe" rather than a recreational resort atmosphere.

Customer service at Backwater RV Park appears to be a significant point of concern for at least one recent visitor. The reviewer who strongly criticized the park also mentioned "the rude staff," which led to their decision not to return and not to recommend the park for recreational use. Negative interactions with staff can severely impact the overall guest experience and are a crucial factor to consider when choosing an RV park.

Regarding promotional information, the review explicitly contradicts the park's online claims of being a "luxury resort." There is no mention of any specific discounts or special offers. In fact, the negative feedback suggests that the park's marketing might be misleading, potentially attracting visitors with expectations that are not met upon arrival. The only potential "draw" mentioned by the critical reviewer is the park's "close proximity to the museums and capitol," suggesting that its location might be advantageous for those specifically interested in these attractions, although the actual distance and convenience are not detailed.

In conclusion, while Backwater RV Park in Abbeville, Alabama, offers the convenience of pull-through sites and cable TV, potential visitors should be aware of significant concerns raised in recent reviews. These include very narrow sites, a heavy presence of permanent residents that detracts from a resort feel, restrictive rules including no campfires, and reports of rude staff. The park is described as falling far short of the "luxury resort" promised on its website. While its proximity to the freeway might be convenient for travelers passing through, and its location might offer access to museums and the capitol (though this is not elaborated upon), the negative feedback regarding the environment, site conditions, and staff should be carefully considered. If you are searching for "RV parks near me" expecting a resort-style experience with spacious sites and a welcoming atmosphere, Backwater RV Park may not meet your expectations based on the available reviews. It is advisable to seek further information or consider alternative options in the Abbeville area.
