You can reach them at (814) 495-7281 or +1 814-495-7281. Based on recent customer reviews, this small but welcoming RV park provides essential amenities, affordability, and close proximity to significant historical landmarks, making it an attractive option for local RV owners and travelers alike.
The environment surrounding 1889 RV Park offers a blend of small-town charm and historical significance. Situated in an "adorable little town" with "beautiful scenery," the park provides a pleasant backdrop for a relaxing stay. Its location adjacent to the "1889 Park" with pavilions and playgrounds suggests immediate access to recreational space suitable for families and individuals looking to enjoy the outdoors. The proximity to natural beauty, particularly as "the leaves are just starting to turn" in one review, indicates potential for scenic views, especially during the fall season. While the campground itself is described as a "simple park," its location leverages the inherent appeal of South Fork and its surrounding landscape. Notably, the park is situated in an area free from highway noise, contributing to a more peaceful camping experience despite being within a reasonable distance of transportation routes. However, one reviewer mentioned a train that parks right behind the campground, which could be a potential source of noise at times, though this did not deter them from wanting to return.
In terms of services and features, 1889 RV Park focuses on providing the essentials for a comfortable and convenient stay. A significant advantage is the availability of "full hookup" sites, which, at the reviewed price of $30.00 per night, represents "great value for the price." Full hookups typically include water, electricity, and sewer connections, making it ideal for RV travelers who prefer the convenience of on-site utilities. Each site is also equipped with a picnic table, offering a dedicated space for outdoor dining and relaxation. While the park is described as having "no other amenities though," the strong park WiFi is a notable exception, with one reviewer highlighting it as "pretty strong," even when personal cell service (AT&T and Verizon) was a little weak. This reliable internet access can be a significant benefit for travelers needing to stay connected. The location of the dumpster across the street provides a practical solution for waste disposal. The park is also praised for being "easy in and easy out," which is particularly important for RVs of all sizes, ensuring a stress-free arrival and departure.
A standout feature of 1889 RV Park is its close proximity to the Johnstown Flood National Park visitor center and exhibits. This makes it an excellent base for local users and travelers interested in exploring this significant historical site. The friendly and competent staff, particularly "Jeff," are also highlighted in the reviews. Jeff is mentioned for being "awesome" and providing valuable historical context and recommendations for points of interest, enriching the visitor experience beyond just a place to park. The welcoming and helpful nature of the staff contributes significantly to the positive atmosphere of this small park, with one reviewer noting that Jeff "made us feel real welcome." The park's ability to accommodate "all size units" makes it accessible to a wide range of RVs, from smaller trailers to larger motorhomes.
For local users searching for 'camping near me,' 1889 RV Park offers an affordable and convenient option with the added benefit of historical and natural attractions nearby. The full hookup sites are a significant draw for RV owners, and the strong WiFi is a valuable amenity in an area where cell service might be weak. The easy access and level sites make it suitable for various RV sizes. The proximity to the 1889 Park provides immediate recreational opportunities, and the short drive to the Johnstown Flood National Park offers a chance to engage with local history. The friendly and informative staff further enhance the appeal, making guests feel welcome and providing local insights.
While specific promotional information isn't explicitly stated as a "promotion," the positive reviews themselves act as strong endorsements. The mention of "great value for the price" ($30.00 for full hookups) is a significant promotional point for budget-conscious travelers. The emphasis on the friendly and helpful staff, particularly Jeff, promotes a welcoming and personalized experience. Highlighting the proximity to the Johnstown Flood National Park caters to those interested in history and educational tourism. The "easy in and easy out" access is a practical benefit that could be promoted to RVers looking for a hassle-free stop. The availability of strong WiFi is another selling point in today's connected world. Potential promotional efforts could focus on these aspects, emphasizing the affordability, convenience, historical access, and friendly service that 1889 RV Park offers.
Local users considering 1889 RV Park might also want to inquire about specific details such as the number and size of the campsites to ensure availability, especially during peak seasons. While one reviewer mentioned only 10 sites, it's worth confirming the total capacity. Information about any specific rules or regulations of the park (e.g., pet policies, quiet hours) could also be helpful. While the reviews mention a dumpster across the street, details about other waste disposal procedures might be useful for longer stays. Given the mention of a train behind the campground, inquiring about the frequency and timing of train activity could help light sleepers prepare. Despite the limited amenities beyond hookups and WiFi, the positive aspects of value, location, and service make it a compelling option for a straightforward and convenient RV stay.
In conclusion, 1889 RV Park in South Fork, PA, offers local users searching for 'camping near me' a great value option with full hookups and easy access for RVs of all sizes. Its location provides a blend of small-town charm, beautiful scenery, and significant historical attractions, particularly the nearby Johnstown Flood National Park. The strong park WiFi is a notable amenity, compensating for potentially weak cell service. The friendly and helpful staff, like Jeff, contribute to a welcoming and informative stay. While the park is simple with limited amenities beyond the essentials, its affordability, convenience, and strategic location make it a highly recommended choice for a no-frills RV camping experience in the South Fork area. Local RV owners and travelers looking for a base to explore the region's history and natural beauty should definitely consider 1889 RV Park.

1889 RV Park Reviews
Great small park that can accommodate all size units and the 1889 Park right there with pavilions and playgrounds. We had full hookup for $30.00 a night. Easy in and easy out park, Johnstown Flood NP visitors center and exhibits are really close. Jeff was awesome and gave us some history and some points we shouldn’t miss. Our cell service was a little weak (AT&T and Verizon) but the park WiFi was pretty strong. Dumpster is across the street. The only real down side was the train that parks right behind the campground. We would definitely stay here again.
Sep 08, 2023 · Melissa G.We loved this little park. Only 10 sites but Jeff made us feel real welcome. Sites have a picnic table and full hook ups. No other amenities though. Simple park to stay at. Situated in an adorable little town beautiful scenery. The leaves are just starting to turn. We’d come back in a heartbeat.
Sep 26, 2023 · Mary StJohnBeen coming to this park for more than 20 years. Only 9 spots. Reasonable prices. There is a train track that runs within a 100 yards or so. Not a main line but there will be about 2-3 coal trains a week. Most people that use this campground have ties to the local area. Some come for the summer or months at a time.If you’re coming in through Sidman or St Michael on 869 with a tow vehicle I would recommend you disconnect your toad either at the high school or at the Catholic Church parking lot. The turn off 869 is an abrupt incline to a small bridge. You will bottom out your hitch and toad.
Oct 13, 2023 · Michael McNultyAffordable park with full hook up. Small but perfect for our occasional weekend trip to see in laws!
Oct 23, 2023 · Paige WrightLoved it. And super affordable with friendly folks.
