pulled in on the 1st o the year, the daughter was very nice and took us to the only lot the owner said he had for me, (my 1st red flag) they put me beside some girl with a huge dog inside barking all day then came home at 10pm and commenced to play with her big dog inside, between 10pm and 2am every single night I was terrifyingly awoken by noises that sounded like an angry bear right outside my camper tearing up my porch, it took me two weeks to figure out where the NOISE was coming from, I even mentioned it 3x to their son, he told me to get pictures?? of what NOISE? Then they park a couple on the other side that had 5 dogs, inside all day long, and when they took them out to potty, they immediately walked all 5 dogs on leash right on over to my kitchen side of lot, 2nd time the dog went right on the ground outside our truck drive door, I mentioned that to owner about poop piles in the direct line of my service lines, it took a month and a half to finally get moved away from the nuisance with the big dog, and the other side stopped their madness. I end up in a lot on roadside, and knew right away it wasn't going to work for me because his yearly are so coddled they ignore the speed limit, choking me all day long with their dust, ( intentional obvious) the good tenants here respect the 5mph obviously because they see the dust the long timers make speeding by. I had attempted to be nice about the altercations but the owner allows the problems to escalate and takes his full timers side of any issue with other tenants, and upon reading the many others that match my experience I'd say the real liars are the ones reviewing simply for damage control, the long timers act like this is all they got so you bet they ain't leaving, while their RV literally falls down around them, and I wonder how RVing got to be so stressful and expensive because of these type of places. I have no qualms with those who are seeking a better life, but those who stay with the madness and have protection to boot? I already planned on not staying any longer than needed to change out campers and I called in advance to avoid any issues with my transaction asking them specifically what their protocol was, well they told all of us on my phone over speaker that day in an office of others who heard what was said, the next day we tried to get them to honor their words, they changed up, held up my RV transport for 2 hours because you are not allowed to park until the park people are there, nothing like telling someone what you're up to so they can make sure it doesn't happen without major issues, I am not the only one who heard them mince their words, and the atmosphere was awfully obvious they were NOT here to help but to hinder, they cost a business man delays in his work that day, and customers suffered as a result. now today on April 16 I wake up to no power, I go out side to see if my meter was on I see my power line laying in the ground, so these people try to destroy your stuff too. and don't bother trying to tell them, they are weak character and blame the victim for their own folly. The day my friend and I were out fixing up my yard, some long timer comes wandering right through us so enamored with his cell up in his face his dog was dragging him along, I said nothing till his dog began to poop right there next to the tree he almost ran into had I not yelled and said don't let your dog shit right here in my yard where we are sitting, the guy didn't even realize where he was so dam stuck on his cell, he commenced to harass me a he walked further away I guess to get a response so he could illegally record me and obviously edited it to fit a narrative so bad that the owner verbally attacked me in the office, I should have had him arrested, and it seems all they will believe is media, for ones word with them against those who harm will only make life more miserable until your gone, it's big club here and I want no part of it, and not a one would do this all on their own, it's a community hood, cheap, very cheap!! get my drift - Lafter

A-ok Campground Introduce

If you are searching for "camping near me" in the Dothan, Alabama area and are looking for a potentially budget-friendly option, A-ok Campground, located at 5081 3rd Ave D-7, Dothan, AL 36301, USA, might appear on your radar. You can reach them at (334) 718-7576 or their mobile number, +1 334-718-7576, for inquiries. However, it is crucial to carefully consider the recent customer reviews to gain a comprehensive understanding of what to expect at this campground, as the feedback presents a very mixed picture.

One extremely detailed and negative review from a recent guest who stayed for an extended period paints a concerning picture of the campground environment and management. This reviewer described a problematic initial experience, being placed on the only available lot next to a neighbor with a large, constantly barking dog. The noise issues allegedly persisted late into the night, with sounds described as an "angry bear" outside their camper. Despite mentioning these noises multiple times to the owner's son, the response was reportedly unhelpful, asking for pictures of a "noise."

Further issues described by this reviewer involved a neighboring couple with five dogs who were allegedly kept inside all day and then walked to relieve themselves directly on the reviewer's campsite, including near their service lines. The reviewer stated that it took a month and a half to be moved away from the initial problematic neighbor. Subsequently, the new roadside lot was deemed unsuitable due to excessive dust kicked up by long-term residents speeding, who allegedly ignored the 5 mph speed limit, while other tenants respected it. The reviewer felt this dust issue was intentional.

The reviewer also expressed dissatisfaction with the management, claiming that the owner consistently sided with long-term residents in disputes with other tenants and that their attempts to address issues were met with resistance. They further alleged that positive reviews might be "damage control" and that long-term residents, despite their RVs being in disrepair, were entrenched and protected by the management. The reviewer recounted a negative experience regarding their departure, claiming that the campground changed their previously stated protocol for RV transport, causing significant delays and hindering their business dealings. They also reported waking up to a severed power line, suggesting potential property damage and a lack of accountability from the campground.

Adding to the list of negative experiences, the reviewer described an incident involving a long-term resident whose unleashed dog defecated on their campsite while the resident was engrossed in their phone. When confronted, the resident allegedly became confrontational and may have attempted to record and edit the interaction, leading to a verbal attack on the reviewer by the owner in the office. This paints a picture of a potentially hostile environment where the management may not support short-term visitors facing issues with long-term residents.

In stark contrast to this highly negative account, another very brief review offers a much more positive perspective. This reviewer stated, "Don't be fooled by first impressions, not all the pads are paved and the roads aren't paved but they make up for it in so many ways. The management will bend over backwards to make your stay a pleasant one. This is a very quiet campground, no late night parties. My kind of place." This review acknowledges the lack of paved pads and roads but praises the management's helpfulness and the quiet atmosphere of the campground.

Given these drastically different experiences, it is challenging to provide a definitive introduction to A-ok Campground. The environment appears to be an older campground with unpaved roads and potentially unpaved or partially paved campsites. One review suggests a quiet atmosphere, while the other details significant disturbances and a lack of peace. Services and features are not explicitly mentioned in either review, so information regarding hookups, amenities like restrooms or laundry, or recreational facilities is missing. There is no promotional information available in the provided text.

The conflicting nature of the reviews highlights the importance of proceeding with caution if considering A-ok Campground for your "camping near me" needs. The extremely negative review raises serious concerns about safety, neighborly conduct, management responsiveness, and even the condition of the utilities. While the positive review offers a contrasting viewpoint, praising the management and quiet environment, it also acknowledges the unpaved nature of the campground. Potential visitors must weigh these perspectives carefully.

For local users in Dothan, AL, who are considering A-ok Campground, it would be highly advisable to contact the campground directly and inquire about the issues raised in the negative review. It would be prudent to ask about their pet policies, rules regarding noise and neighborly conduct, security measures, and the condition of their facilities and utilities. Given the significant discrepancies in the feedback, a personal conversation with the management might provide further clarity and help potential campers make an informed decision. If a budget-friendly option is the primary concern, it would still be wise to ensure that basic expectations for safety, peace, and functioning amenities can be met before booking a stay at A-ok Campground.

In conclusion, A-ok Campground appears to be a budget-friendly option for "camping near me" in Dothan, AL. However, potential visitors must be aware of the starkly contrasting reviews. One review praises the helpful management and quiet atmosphere despite the unpaved grounds, while the other details a litany of serious issues including disruptive neighbors, pet problems, dust, alleged mismanagement, property damage, and a hostile environment. Without further information or clarification from the campground management regarding these concerns, proceeding with a booking would require careful consideration and potentially direct communication to address the significant negative feedback.
