Blue Hole Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Marianna, Florida area and those searching for "camping near me," Blue Hole Campground offers a well-maintained and upgraded camping experience within a park setting. Located at RQ95+V2, Marianna, FL 32446, USA, this campground provides a range of amenities and natural attractions, making it a compelling option for those seeking an outdoor getaway close to home.
Based on customer reviews, the environment of Blue Hole Campground is characterized by clean and flat campsites. Recent upgrades include pea gravel on most sites, with a few fully paved options available. This attention to the quality of the campsites suggests a commitment to providing a comfortable and well-maintained environment for campers. The presence of "great walking paths and water scenes" indicates that the campground offers opportunities for leisurely strolls and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. Furthermore, the proximity to fishing spots and a natural swimming hole adds to the appeal for outdoor enthusiasts.
The reviews also highlight the impact of Hurricane Michael on the campground's environment. Notably, the campground "lost a lot of tree cover," resulting in "very little shade." This is an important consideration for local users, especially during the hot Florida summers. While newly planted trees are present, they will require time to mature and provide significant shade. Campers should be prepared for potentially sunny conditions and plan accordingly. Additionally, the water in the Blue Hole spring is reported to be brown rather than blue, possibly another lasting effect of the hurricane. Despite this color change, the water is described as "refreshing," particularly during periods of high heat.
In terms of services and features, Blue Hole Campground appears to offer excellent facilities. The "comfort station" is equipped with washer and dryers, as well as "full service bathrooms and showers," providing conveniences that enhance the camping experience, especially for longer stays. A significant upgrade mentioned in the reviews is that "every site has a new power pedestal and sewer hookup," a feature that is described as "rare for a state park campground." This makes Blue Hole Campground particularly attractive for RV owners seeking full hookups, which are not always standard in state park facilities.
Beyond the camping amenities, Blue Hole Campground offers unique attractions such as fishing opportunities located "just down the path" and a natural swimming hole available for use by campers. These features provide opportunities for recreation and relaxation within the park. One reviewer strongly recommends making time for the cave tour, indicating that this is a significant attraction associated with the park or campground area. Local users interested in exploring natural caves will find this to be a notable feature.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Blue Hole Campground offers a combination of upgraded facilities and natural attractions. The clean and flat campsites with full hookups are a significant advantage, particularly for RVers. The availability of laundry facilities and full bathrooms adds to the comfort and convenience of longer stays. The walking paths, fishing opportunities, and the natural swimming hole provide ample options for outdoor activities without having to travel far from the campsite.
The mention of the Blue Hole spring being brown might be a concern for some local users who are familiar with natural springs typically having clear blue water. However, the reviewer notes that it is still refreshing, suggesting that the change in color might be primarily aesthetic. It would be beneficial for potential visitors to inquire about the current condition of the spring if this is a significant factor in their decision.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. Local users interested in any discounts for local residents, seasonal promotions, or special offers should contact Blue Hole Campground directly at (850) 482-1228 or +1 850-482-1228. It is also advisable to inquire about reservation procedures, especially given the positive feedback about the campground, which might indicate high demand.
In summary, Blue Hole Campground near Marianna, Florida, offers a compelling option for local users seeking "camping near me." The upgraded campsites with pea gravel or pavement and full hookups, along with the clean comfort station facilities, provide a comfortable and convenient camping experience. The presence of walking paths, fishing, a natural swimming hole, and the highly recommended cave tour offer a variety of activities. While the loss of tree cover due to Hurricane Michael and the brown color of the Blue Hole spring are environmental factors to be aware of, the overall positive feedback suggests a well-maintained and enjoyable campground for a local getaway. Contact them directly for the most up-to-date information on availability, pricing, and any current promotions.

Blue Hole Campground Reviews
We did not stay in the campground but we were in the park for about 2 months. The campground is a great campground as the sites are very clean, flat and the host are extremely friendly. The comfort station has washer and dryers along with full service bathrooms and showers. Great walking paths and water scenes. Fishing just down the path and a natural swimming hole for use.
Mar 25, 2025 · Dennis BrownThe campsites have all been upgraded with pea gravel, and a few are fully paved. Every site has a new power pedestal and sewer hookup, which is rare for a state park campground. The only negative is that they lost a lot of tree cover due to hurricane Michael and there is very little shade. It will take some time for the newly planted trees to mature. The water in the Blue Hole spring is also not blue, but brown. Maybe another effect of Michael. It is refreshing though, especially when the heat index was over 100 degrees during our stay.Definitely make time for the cave tour!
Jul 02, 2023 · Bruce RichardsSuper nice campground with one very clean bathhouse. The camp has just enough sites to make it cozy even if it's full. Nearby there is a nice swimming hole with a picnic gazebo. Will be back.!!
Mar 05, 2024 · J HThe campsides are great. Large gravel pads (ideal for tents) with full hookups and a bit of shade. The blue hole is just a short walk away.Unfortunately the restrooms were in terrible condition for the two nights we stayed in.They seem to be restocked regularly but rarely cleaned and the AC is down. During out stay they were infested with mosquitoes and spiders. The blue hole is very refreshing even if is brown. I would not recommend the river trail and the sinkhole trail : lots of mosquitoes and not much to see.
Jul 29, 2023 · Maxime BouffeSites clean but open, you see all your neighbors. Bathrooms clean. Sites level with gravel. Water and sewer. Grass around which I think helps keep the mosquitoes away which are prevalent on the trails this time of year. Paved road in the loop. You still see damage from the 2018 hurricane Michael in the forest. Husband says the cavern is well worth the visit and one of the best caves he has been in.
