We absolutely loved this campground! We got one of the 'walk-in' campsites, where you park and walk down a trail to your campsite. The walk was not far at all and totally worth it because our site as well as the others around us were pretty secluded and very spacious! Our site had a very lovely view of the river and we could see it while we warmed by the fire.I believe it was the Metolius River, which comes from the Cascade Mountains and was too cold to swim in. Our Labrador had a great time splashing around on the river bank, and thoroughly enjoyed how spacious our campsite was.A lot of people were out kayaking and fly fishing (the only fishing allowed in this area). A few people walked past on the trail the leads to the fish hatchery, but otherwise it was really private. There were also NO BUGS out here! The campground was very clean and well taken care of, including the vault bathrooms, and the camp host kept to themselves. There's also a very cute country store up the road a bit.Important note: There's no cell service out here.We will definitely be back!! - Haylee H.

Allen Springs Campground Introduce

For local users searching for "camping near me" seeking a tranquil and spacious outdoor experience, Allen Springs Campground, located in Camp Sherman, OR 97730, USA, presents an appealing option. While a specific phone number isn't provided in the available information, the reviews offer a detailed glimpse into what this campground has to offer.

One enthusiastic camper shared, "We absolutely loved this campground!" Their positive experience began with securing one of the "walk-in" campsites. These sites require a short walk from the parking area down a trail, which the reviewer found to be "not far at all" and "totally worth it." The reward for this brief walk was a campsite that, along with others nearby, was "pretty secluded and very spacious!" This feature of secluded and spacious campsites is a significant draw for those who value privacy and room to spread out during their camping trip.

Adding to the allure, their campsite boasted a "very lovely view of the river," which they could enjoy even while warming by the fire. This suggests that many of the walk-in sites offer picturesque views of the adjacent waterway, enhancing the overall camping ambiance. The river is identified by the reviewer as likely being the Metolius River, originating from the Cascade Mountains, and noted for its cold temperature, making it perhaps less suitable for swimming. However, their Labrador Retriever thoroughly enjoyed "splashing around on the river bank," indicating that the river offers opportunities for pets to enjoy as well.

The recreational activities observed at Allen Springs Campground include kayaking and fly fishing, with the reviewer noting that fly fishing is "the only fishing allowed in this area." This information is valuable for those interested in these particular water-based activities. The presence of kayakers suggests that the river is suitable for paddling, while the fly-fishing-only rule indicates a focus on conservation and a specific type of angling.

While the walk-in sites offered seclusion, the reviewer mentioned a trail that leads to a fish hatchery, with "a few people walked past on the trail." This suggests that while the campsites themselves are private, there is some foot traffic in the area due to the nearby attraction. However, the overall impression was one of privacy, as the reviewer stated, "otherwise it was really private."

An exceptionally positive aspect highlighted was the absence of insects: "There were also NO BUGS out here!" This is a significant advantage for any camping trip, as it can greatly enhance comfort and enjoyment of the outdoors. Furthermore, the campground was described as "very clean and well taken care of," including the "vault bathrooms." This indicates that the facilities are maintained to a good standard. The reviewer also noted that the "camp host kept to themselves," which might appeal to campers who prefer a more independent experience.

For those needing supplies or looking for local charm, there's "a very cute country store up the road a bit." This suggests that while the campground offers a natural escape, basic amenities or local flavor are still within easy reach.

An important piece of information for potential visitors is the lack of cellular service: "Important note: There's no cell service out here." This is crucial for planning purposes, as it means campers should be prepared to be disconnected during their stay. However, for those looking to truly unplug and immerse themselves in nature, this could be seen as a benefit.

Another reviewer echoed the positive sentiments, calling Allen Springs Campground "a very nice little campground." They further elaborated on some of its features, noting that it is "small" and "offers no potable or running water." This is an important detail for campers to be aware of – they will need to bring their own water supply. On the positive side, this reviewer also highlighted that "the spots are very large and well spaced from each other," reinforcing the earlier comment about spaciousness and privacy. Finally, they emphasized the natural beauty of the location, stating, "The trees and river are what makes this spot so enjoyable."

In summary, Allen Springs Campground near Camp Sherman, Oregon, offers a unique camping experience with secluded and spacious walk-in campsites, many featuring lovely views of what is likely the Metolius River. While swimming in the cold river may not be ideal, it provides opportunities for splashing for pets and is a setting for kayaking and fly fishing. The campground is noted for being clean, relatively bug-free, and well-maintained, with vault bathrooms. While there is no potable or running water and no cell service, the peaceful and private atmosphere, combined with the natural beauty of the trees and river, makes it a highly recommended destination, as one reviewer concluded, "We will definitely be back!!" For local users searching for "camping near me" who prioritize seclusion, space, and a beautiful riverside setting, Allen Springs Campground is definitely worth considering.
