Bedford Creek Marina Introduce
For local residents in New York searching within the "camping near me" category, Bedford Creek Marina Campground, located at 16750 Allen Dr, Sackets Harbor, NY 13685, offers a camping option associated with a marina. You can contact them at (315) 679-5454 or their mobile number +1 315-679-5454 for inquiries. However, recent customer reviews provide important insights into the campground's environment, services, and features that potential visitors should carefully consider.
One detailed review from a camper with a 20-foot hybrid travel trailer recounts a challenging experience with site assignments. Initially placed on a site deemed too small for a tent, they were subsequently moved to a second site that could not accommodate their slide-out due to a fence. Despite being willing to make it work, they were moved a third time to a site in a seasonal area. This final site required parking the camper parallel to the road and was noted to have an uncapped sewer connection emitting a noticeable odor. Furthermore, this site lacked both a fire ring and a picnic table. The reviewer also mentioned not receiving any information about weekend activities upon check-in.
Adding to the negative experience, this camper reported an incident where a neighbor attributed the sewer smell to their setup, necessitating an explanation that their valves were closed. The reviewer concluded that Bedford Creek Marina Campground is predominantly a seasonal trailer park with significant golf cart traffic and explicitly stated their intention not to return.
In contrast, a separate review from someone who enjoyed their first season at Bedford Creek Marina Campground offers a more optimistic perspective. This reviewer acknowledged that the campground seemed to be experiencing "growing pains" during that year. However, they expressed a belief that with time and perseverance, Bedford Creek has the potential to become a highly sought-after destination with a waiting list for seasonal spots.
Considering these contrasting reviews, the environment of Bedford Creek Marina Campground appears to be heavily oriented towards seasonal residents, potentially impacting the experience for short-term campers. The initial reviewer's account suggests that transient sites may not be consistently well-prepared or adequately equipped with standard camping amenities like fire rings and picnic tables. The presence of an uncapped sewer and the resulting odor are significant environmental and comfort concerns.
The services and features, based on the negative review, seem to lack attention to detail for short-term visitors. The multiple site changes and the inadequacies of the final site assigned indicate potential issues with site management and allocation. The absence of a list of weekend activities suggests a lack of organized engagement for transient campers. The high volume of golf cart traffic, mentioned by the same reviewer, could also detract from a traditional camping atmosphere.
The positive review hints at potential improvements and a belief in the campground's future. The mention of "growing pains" suggests that the management might be aware of some issues and could be in the process of addressing them. The optimism for a future waiting list implies that the location or the overall concept of Bedford Creek Marina has inherent appeal, particularly for those seeking a seasonal spot within a marina setting.
However, for local users searching for "camping near me" for a short-term stay, the detailed negative account raises several red flags. The challenges with site suitability, the lack of basic amenities at one of the assigned sites, the sewer odor, and the heavy seasonal presence are all factors that could significantly impact the camping experience. While the positive review offers a glimmer of hope for the future, it also acknowledges current shortcomings.
Given the limited information and the starkly contrasting experiences reported, it is difficult to provide a definitive objective introduction that paints a uniformly positive picture. Bedford Creek Marina Campground appears to be in a state of transition or may cater primarily to seasonal residents, potentially at the expense of short-term campers. The marina aspect itself is not extensively discussed in these reviews, so its benefits or drawbacks for campers remain unclear.
For local campers considering Bedford Creek Marina Campground, it would be highly advisable to seek more recent reviews and potentially contact the management directly to inquire about site availability, amenities provided at transient sites, and any recent improvements or changes in management practices. The significant discrepancies between the two reviews suggest a need for up-to-date information to make an informed decision. The potential for a marina-based camping experience near Sackets Harbor could be appealing, but the reported issues regarding site quality and basic amenities cannot be ignored.
In conclusion, Bedford Creek Marina Campground near Sackets Harbor, NY, presents a mixed picture based on recent customer reviews. While one reviewer expresses optimism for its future as a seasonal destination, another details a problematic experience with site assignments, lack of amenities, and environmental concerns. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully weigh these perspectives and seek further information to determine if Bedford Creek Marina Campground meets their expectations for a comfortable and enjoyable camping trip. The strong emphasis on seasonal camping and the reported issues with transient sites suggest that this location might be better suited for long-term stays or those specifically seeking a marina-adjacent experience, provided the current issues have been addressed.

Bedford Creek Marina Reviews
Would not recommend. Have a 20 foot hybrid travel trailer. First site they put me on wasn't big enough for a tent. Second site they moved me to had a fence so it would not accommodate my slide. I was going to make it work. I then got a call moving me to a third site. This one was in a seasonal area. I had to back the camper in so that it was parallel to the road. The sewer was uncapped and the area smelled of sewer. There was no fire ring nor picnic table provided. No list of activities for the weekend provided on check in. On the second day my "neighbor" ,a lovely lady, came over and accused us of creating the sewer odor. I had hooked my hose to the sewer to cap it off. I had to point out that my valves were closed. This place is 99% seasonal and is basically a trailer park. Very heavy golf cart traffic. Will not go back.
Jul 09, 2024 · David DowdleI absolutely loved this season as it was my first. It would seem to me that Bedford had some growing pains this year. I honestly believe that if we just hang in there Bedford Creek will once again be a yr waiting list.
Oct 15, 2024 · SuzanneUnder new management. As of my last visit, also lots under renovation. Restrooms and showers were closed temporarily, the docks were not populated with boats and could also use some fixing. There's some pizza, nice little pizza spot. Likely better once the season kicks into gear.
May 06, 2024 · RamblesWe booked this for two nights for the eclipse. The location is great! I originally found the site on HipCamp where it says that all back in sites have picnic tables and implies that they have a fire pit as well. I ended up booking directly since I had questions. On the day of arrival we were arriving after the store closed so we got a call with checkin instructions. On the call I asked a question about firewood which the man kindly answered. When we got there, picked up our checkin instructions and map and found our site it was a gravel patch barely the width of our van between 4 trees, no fire pit and no picnic table. We were also confused as to why the person we spoke to hours earlier on the phone didn't say we didn't have a fire pit when we asked about firewood.I called their number and left a message asking to speak with someone about it, since we had been given the impression there was at least a picnic table. They never called back. Additionally the toilets that were closest to us were closed "for renovations" and the ground around them soaking wet, but this was not marked on the map we were given or listed anywhere. Ultimately since all we could do was sit in our van we left a day early and didn't bother to spend the second night. It's two days later and I still have not received a call back from them and don't expect one.Ultimately the place looks like it's not really for one or two night stays although they advertise that. It seems like it's more for seasonal campers. The one plus, besides location, is that everyone we met there was friendly.
Apr 09, 2024 · Jennifer PohlhausThis was the first year with new owners and management. Overall, we love the campground and are looking forward to many years here however, there have been some changes that I know many people including us are not fond of. Which is the reason for the 3 stars. First, the seasonal rate increase. While we appreciate the gradual increase for us existing campers, the amount it’s going up to is a bit extreme in my opinion compared to what we were at with the previous owners. Also, the jumping pillow hasn’t been replaced and that was a huge hit with the kids. With the increase rate, I feel the jumping pillow should be replaced. The store was open sporadic hours and electric readings were not done on consistent dates each month. Again overall we love the campground and just stick to our group to relax and have a good time.
