Willows on the Lake Campground Introduce
For local residents in New York searching within the "camping near me" category, Willows on the Lake Campground, located at 11609 State Rte 3 #1, Adams, NY 13605, offers a camping option with full hookups. You can contact them at (315) 679-5455 or their mobile number +1 315-679-5455 for inquiries. However, recent reviews provide important perspectives on the campground's environment, services, and features that potential visitors should consider.
One of the positive aspects mentioned in the reviews is the availability of full hookups at the campground. This is a significant advantage for RV owners who require water, electricity, and sewer connections at their campsite, offering convenience and comfort during their stay. However, it's important to note that the same reviewer described the campground as small, which has implications for certain activities. Due to its size, the campground may not be suitable for extensive bike riding within its boundaries, and there might not be ample space for leisurely walks with a stroller.
Access to the water at Willows on the Lake Campground appears to be a point of concern for some visitors. The direct access available from the campground is described as rocky, very slippery, and small. This suggests that it may not be ideal for swimming or easily accessible for all age groups. For those seeking a traditional beach experience, the reviews indicate that it requires a car ride to a separate location where an $8 per car entry fee is charged. Furthermore, biking to this off-site beach would involve riding alongside a 55 mph road, which the reviewer explicitly advises against, particularly for families with children.
Based on these observations, the immediate environment of Willows on the Lake Campground seems to prioritize functionality for RVs with full hookups over extensive recreational space or easy water access directly on-site. The quiet atmosphere is noted as a positive attribute, potentially making it appealing to older individuals or those seeking a more peaceful and less activity-focused camping experience.
However, another recent review raises significant concerns regarding the management and maintenance of the campground. This visitor expressed disappointment due to issues encountered during their stay over Labor Day weekend. They reported being promised a military discount that was never applied and alleged that their multiple attempts to contact the management via calls and emails were ignored. This lack of communication and resolution is a serious point of consideration for potential guests.
Furthermore, this reviewer described the shower and bathroom area as being in disarray, resembling the aftermath of a "tornado" and reportedly not being cleaned for most of the Labor Day weekend. Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are typically a basic expectation for campgrounds, and this account suggests a potential lack of attention to hygiene during a busy period. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned instances of dogs roaming freely without any visible staff intervention to address the issue. This could be a concern for guests who are uncomfortable around unrestrained animals or who have pets of their own.
In contrast to their experience at Willows on the Lake Campground, the same reviewer strongly recommended a state campground located nearby, indicating that it offered a much better camping experience. This direct comparison suggests that local campers have alternative options in the vicinity that may provide superior facilities and management.
Considering the information available, Willows on the Lake Campground offers the advantage of full hookups, which is a significant feature for RV travelers. It is also described as a quiet location, which could be appealing to those seeking a peaceful getaway. However, potential visitors should be aware of the limitations regarding on-site recreational activities, the challenging direct water access, and the need to travel and pay separately for a beach experience. The negative review concerning management responsiveness, cleanliness of facilities, and enforcement of campground rules regarding pets raises serious concerns that should be carefully considered.
Given these mixed perspectives, local users searching for "camping near me" should weigh the convenience of full hookups and the quiet environment against the reported issues with lake access, recreational space within the campground, and the negative experiences with management and maintenance. It would be prudent for potential campers to seek more recent reviews from various sources to get a broader understanding of the current conditions and management practices at Willows on the Lake Campground before making a reservation. The recommendation to consider nearby state campgrounds as a potentially better alternative should also be taken into account.
In conclusion, while Willows on the Lake Campground near Adams, NY, offers full hookups and a quiet setting, the limitations regarding on-site activities and water access, coupled with concerning reports about management and facility maintenance, suggest that local campers should proceed with caution and conduct further research. The availability of alternative campgrounds in the area, as highlighted by a recent visitor, indicates that there may be options that provide a more satisfactory overall camping experience. Without any positive promotional information to counterbalance the negative feedback, potential guests should prioritize thorough investigation before choosing Willows on the Lake Campground for their next camping trip.

Willows on the Lake Campground Reviews
Full hookup at campground is a plus. Campground is small so you can’t really go biking anyways or not much space to go for a walk with a stroller. No beach access. Access to water they have is all rocks and very slippery and small. to go to the beach, you would have to take your car to a separate place where you have to pay $8 per car to get in. if you want to take a bike ride to the beach, then you will have to ride on the side of the 55 mph road. Wouldn’t recommend common in there with kids. But if you’re an older person, that’s a perfect place. Very quiet.
Aug 27, 2024 · Vadim LobanI wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, due to poor management, that didn't happen. We were told that we could get a military discount and that it should show in our account in a few days, and to contact if it doesn't. Discount never posted and they refuse to return my multiple calls and email. Shower/Bathroom area looked like a tornado had struck, not being cleaned most of the Labor Day weekend. Some campers had dogs that roamed freely, but no staff was visible to confront them. Much better camping at the state campground up the road. Will not return.
Sep 10, 2024 · Lonnie EtterThis trip was amazing. Spent the weekend with the kids on the lake. The sunsets are absolutely beautiful on the back deck of the lake house. We can't wait to return. Staff was very nice and accommodating.
Sep 16, 2024 · Randi PearsonBasic adequate hookups. Grounds are level and open with a decent amount of small trees. Nice lake frontage. Restrooms and laundry are sub standard. Good location for access to Sackets Harbor and Watertown. Road noise can be loud at times. Quiet guests and "residents".
Aug 19, 2024 · MC OtterThis campground is perfectly located for beautiful sunset watching over Henderson Harbor. With many permanent sites, we were assigned a transient location for our 4 days. When booking this campground, we sought a smaller venue with spacious RV sites. Unfortunately, while adequate, our site was neither spacious nor private. Memorial Day campers were noisy and inconsiderate of their neighbors late into the night. Onecamper kept their outdoor lights on throughout the night and another was letting his dog roam freely to pee on our chairs. Disappointed to say the least.
