Camp Attocoa (TENT ONLY) Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience focused on tent camping in a beautiful natural setting? Consider Camp Attocoa (TENT ONLY), located at 3458 Attocoa Dr, Morganton, NC 28655, USA. As the name indicates, this campground is specifically for tent camping, offering a unique experience centered around nature and the riverside. Based on recent customer reviews, Camp Attocoa provides a picturesque environment, spacious campsites, a friendly host, and is pet-friendly, making it an appealing option for tent campers.
The environment of Camp Attocoa is frequently praised, with one reviewer describing it as "beautiful riverside." This suggests that the campground is situated along a river, offering scenic views and easy access to the water. The proximity to the river likely provides opportunities for activities such as fishing, as mentioned by one guest who noted "plenty of room to fish." The natural setting appears to be a key feature, surrounded by nature, creating a tranquil and appealing atmosphere for those looking to escape into the outdoors.
Despite a mention that the campground is "still in the process of recovering from Helene," the reviewers emphasize that this should not deter potential visitors. This suggests that while there might have been some impact from a past storm, the campground is still operational and offers a worthwhile experience. The fact that guests still found it beautiful and enjoyable speaks to the resilience and inherent appeal of the location.
The services and features of Camp Attocoa, while primarily geared towards tent camping, include spacious campsites. One reviewer noted that "the two open sites are specious and you have plenty of room for your own privacy if that's what you prefer." This is a significant advantage for tent campers who appreciate having ample space to set up their camp and enjoy a sense of seclusion. Unlike more crowded campgrounds, Camp Attocoa seems to offer a more private and spread-out camping experience.
Another notable feature is that Camp Attocoa is "pet friendly." This is a significant draw for campers who like to travel with their dogs. The reviewer mentioned that their dogs "enjoyed having the space to get around that they wouldn't have at a typical campground," highlighting the spaciousness of the sites as beneficial for pets as well.
The host at Camp Attocoa is consistently praised for being "very friendly and accommodating." One guest enjoyed hearing the host's stories about the property and their family history there, indicating a personal touch and a welcoming atmosphere. Another reviewer mentioned that the host "was very accommodating and made sure we had the best stay possible." This level of hospitality can greatly enhance the camping experience, making guests feel welcome and well-cared for.
For those interested in water activities beyond fishing, one reviewer mentioned "easy access to the river" and suggested it as "a great place to stay and kayak down to the next boat takeout." This implies that the river is suitable for kayaking and that Camp Attocoa might be a convenient starting point for a river adventure. The proximity to a boat takeout further supports this.
The reviews consistently express a desire to return to Camp Attocoa, with one stating, "We will definitely be coming back!" and another saying, "Definitely will stay again!" This strong positive sentiment from multiple guests underscores the quality of the experience offered at this tent-only campground.
Given that Camp Attocoa is "TENT ONLY," it caters specifically to those who enjoy traditional tent camping. This focus might mean that the facilities are geared towards this type of camping, potentially including well-maintained tent pads, fire rings, and perhaps picnic tables at the sites. While not explicitly mentioned, basic amenities such as restrooms and potable water would also be expected at a campground.
There is no specific promotional information provided in the reviews. However, the positive word-of-mouth from satisfied customers serves as a strong endorsement for Camp Attocoa. Camp Attocoa (TENT ONLY) Reviews
Husband and I did a quick little get away for a few nights. Beautiful riverside and plenty of room to fish. They are still in the process of recovering from Helene, but don't let that detour you from checking them out. The two open sites are specious and you have plenty of room for your own privacy if that's what you prefer. Pet friendly and our dogs enjoyed having the space to get around that they wouldn't have at a typical campground. Host was very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed hearing his stories about the property and the family growing up there. We will definitely be coming back!
Apr 30, 2025 · Alison KrissCamped here with a few buddies for one night. The host was very accommodating and made sure we had the best stay possible. Easy access to to the river and surrounded by nature. A great place to stay and kayak down to the next boat takeout. Definitely will stay again!
Sep 21, 2024 · William SplawnIf you’re thinking about coming here it’s 100% worth it. It is one of the prettiest campsites I’ve seen in a while, especially the river front site. I saw lots of wildlife, weather was perfect, lots of room for my dog to run. The man that helped me was very nice, very easy to talk to, and very accommodating.

If you love the sound of crickets chirping at night, river flowing, and small drops of rain on our tent; this is the place to be !!!! Easy access, great ownership ( very helpful) and all the time to relax you need.
Sep 19, 2024 · jerome millerThis campground is awesome. Tent only 3 nice sites. Two are near the water and the other is set back in the woods. Very family friendly and plenty to do for the kids. Fire pits and wood on sites are clean. Picnic bench at each site. Good add to the Glen Alpine are. I would highly recommend this site.Walker's
