Camp Dakotah Introduce
For local residents and travelers in the Sisseton, South Dakota area (zip code 57262) searching for "camping near me," Camp Dakotah, located at 11885 460th Ave, presents itself as a small RV park with additional tent camping options. While customer reviews offer differing perspectives on the experience, they provide valuable insights into the environment, services, and features of this campground. To get in touch with Camp Dakotah, you can call them at (605) 698-7388 or +1 605-698-7388.
Understanding the Environment at Camp Dakotah
According to one review, Camp Dakotah is described as an "assume small RV Park" with "plenty of shade," suggesting a comfortable environment during warmer months. The presence of gravel lots indicates designated areas for RV parking, while a separate "grass area for tents" caters to those with tent camping setups. This suggests a mixed environment accommodating different types of campers. However, another review notes that "campsites are small and VERY close together," and specifically mentions an end site (33) being "basically on the road" with no grass. This indicates variability in the size and quality of campsites within Camp Dakotah. Potential campers should be aware that while some areas offer shade and grass, others might be more compact and less scenic.
The first review also highlights the presence of recreational facilities such as a "playground," a "basketball hoop," "corn ball," and a "horseshoe pit," suggesting that Camp Dakotah offers some on-site activities for entertainment, particularly for families. The overall environment seems to cater to both short-term stays and potentially longer residencies, as one reviewer mentioned staying for a month and loving it.
Services and Amenities Offered at Camp Dakotah
Based on customer feedback, Camp Dakotah provides several notable services and amenities. A "very nice laundry room" is mentioned, which is a significant convenience for both short-term and long-term guests. The campground also offers "clean bathrooms with showers," although one reviewer noted a discrepancy in cleanliness between the women's and men's restrooms, with the men's being described as "not as clean." This suggests that while shower facilities are available, the level of cleanliness might vary.
It's important to note that one reviewer specifically mentioned the lack of certain amenities at their site, stating, "No picnic table no fire pit heck, no grass." This indicates that not all campsites at Camp Dakotah are equipped with these standard camping features. Therefore, local users planning to stay should inquire about the specific amenities available at their chosen campsite. The presence of gravel lots for RVs suggests the availability of some level of ground stabilization for parking.
Features and Unique Aspects of Camp Dakotah
One of the key features of Camp Dakotah appears to be its range of recreational activities, including the playground, basketball hoop, corn ball, and horseshoe pit. These amenities make it potentially appealing to families with children and those looking for some outdoor games during their stay. The availability of a laundry room and showers adds to the convenience, especially for longer stays or travelers passing through.
However, a significant point raised in one review is the presence of "quite a few people from the I-29 construction crew staying right now." This suggests that the campground may currently be accommodating a significant number of temporary workers, which could impact the overall atmosphere and the availability of sites for other types of campers. The same reviewer also noted that the campground didn't really have a "family vibe" during their stay, possibly due to the presence of the construction crew.
Local users seeking a traditional family camping experience might want to inquire about the current occupancy and the general atmosphere of the campground before booking. The small size of some campsites and their close proximity, as mentioned in one review, could also be a factor for those prioritizing space and privacy.

Aug 02, 2023 · Tom Stinar-Okay for a one night stay. Campsites are small and VERY close together. Our end site (33) was basically on the road. No picnic table no fire pit heck, no grass. Women's restroom clean and showers looked alright. Hubby said men's wasn't as clean. Looks like there are quite a few people from the I-29 construction crew staying right now. Didn't really have a family vibe.

Jun 29, 2021 · Jeff Bowers110% attentive owner. We were greeted by an employee at the entrance (even though it was late) and shown to our campsite. They've combined campsites bc of camper size and they took into consideration how much space we needed and gave us two spaces for the price of one. New fire places with recycled materials, clean bathrooms with extra toilet paper, clean-cut grass, and horses to look at/pet at the back of the site that the owner has. Absolutely would come back! Lovely workers and friendly atmosphere that adds to the atmosphere of camping/traveling with a sense of community!
Jun 22, 2024 · Hope NelsonGreat hospitality, nice and quiet. Good place to go for walking, bike riding with kids. Most importantly great to relax with a campfire.
