Clear Creek Crossing Campground Introduce
For those in the Maupin, Oregon area searching for "camping near me" that offers a well-maintained, wooded experience with the soothing sounds of a creek, Clear Creek Crossing Campground, located on Frog Creek Rd, Maupin, OR 97037, USA, and reachable by phone at (503) 668-1700 or +1 503-668-1700, presents an appealing option. Customer reviews highlight the beautifully kept area, the desirable creek-side spots, and the sense of being truly out in the woods with spacious sites. However, potential visitors should be aware that the access road can be challenging, particularly for smaller vehicles.
The environment of Clear Creek Crossing Campground is consistently praised as "amazingly well kept" and offering the feeling of "really being out in the woods." The presence of a creek is a significant feature, with some campsites being located "right on the creek," providing a serene ambiance with the sound of flowing water throughout the night. The wooded setting suggests a natural and potentially shaded environment, ideal for those seeking a retreat into nature. Reviewers also appreciated the "space between sites," indicating a level of privacy and room to enjoy one's campsite without feeling crowded. The overall impression is of a well-maintained campground that allows visitors to immerse themselves in a natural, creek-side setting. However, a crucial aspect of the environment to consider is the access road, which is described as potentially "a bit touchy for smaller cars" due to "lots of DEEP potholes and ruts." One reviewer recommended arriving and exiting in daylight to better navigate these road conditions, especially for vehicles like a Honda Civic. This suggests that while the campground itself is pleasant, the journey to and from it might require caution and may be better suited for vehicles with higher clearance or four-wheel drive.
Information regarding specific services and amenities at Clear Creek Crossing Campground is somewhat limited in the provided reviews, but we can infer some likely offerings based on the context of a well-kept, creek-side campground:
- Individual campsites suitable for tents. The reviews do not explicitly mention RV camping, but the spaciousness of the sites might accommodate smaller trailers or campervans; this would need confirmation.
- Direct access to Clear Creek from some campsites, offering the sights and sounds of the creek.
- Spaciousness between campsites, providing a sense of privacy and a more secluded feel.
- Potentially, basic facilities such as vault toilets, although these are not explicitly mentioned. The "well kept area" suggests that any facilities present are likely maintained.
- Fire rings or designated areas for campfires at each site, consistent with many campgrounds, although not specifically mentioned.
- Picnic tables at individual campsites are also a common feature but not confirmed in the reviews.
- Given the natural setting, potable water sources might be available, but this would need to be verified.
- Waste disposal facilities are likely present to maintain the cleanliness of the campground.

The features of Clear Creek Crossing Campground that stand out from the reviews include its well-maintained condition, the desirable creek-side camping spots, and the spaciousness of the campsites, which contribute to a feeling of being truly immersed in the woods and enjoying privacy. The sound of the creek is a significant natural feature that enhances the camping experience for those located nearby. However, a notable feature that potential visitors must be aware of is the challenging access road with deep potholes and ruts, especially for smaller vehicles. The recommendation to arrive and exit in daylight highlights the potential difficulty of navigating this road in low light conditions. Another point mentioned by a reviewer is the behavior of other campers' dogs, with one group reportedly not keeping their dogs on leashes. While this did not deter the reviewer from wanting to return, it is something to be aware of, especially for those with their own pets or those who prefer a strict adherence to leash rules. The overall positive sentiment regarding the beauty and upkeep of the area, as well as the desirable creek-side locations and spacious sites, suggests that Clear Creek Crossing Campground offers a high-quality natural camping experience, provided that visitors are prepared for the potentially challenging access road and are mindful of other campers.
No specific promotional information or special offers for Clear Creek Crossing Campground were mentioned in the provided reviews. Campgrounds, especially those in natural settings like this, often have fees associated with overnight stays. These fees can vary depending on the season and the type of campsite (e.g., creek-side vs. non-creek-side, if such distinctions exist). To inquire about current rates, reservation procedures, and any potential discounts or special offers, it is recommended to contact Clear Creek Crossing Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Information may also be available through relevant forestry or parks department websites, depending on the management of the area.
The location of Clear Creek Crossing Campground on Frog Creek Rd in Maupin, Oregon, places it within a region known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. Maupin is situated in north-central Oregon, along the Deschutes River, which is famous for its fishing and whitewater rafting. While Clear Creek itself is a separate waterway, its proximity to Maupin suggests that the campground is likely located in a scenic area with access to forests and possibly other natural attractions. The mention of "really being out in the woods" further supports this. For local users in the Maupin area and beyond searching for "camping near me" that offers a tranquil, creek-side, and wooded experience, Clear Creek Crossing Campground appears to be a well-regarded option. However, the advisory regarding the access road is crucial for planning purposes, as it may influence the type of vehicle visitors choose to take and the timing of their arrival and departure.

The sound of the creek enhances the natural ambiance, making it a desirable "camping near me" destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in the woods. Clear Creek Crossing Campground Reviews
It's an amazingly well kept area. The drive can be a bit touchy for smaller cars, lots of DEEP potholes and ruts. Just make sure you arrive/exit in daylight so you can dodge some of those if you drive something like a Honda Civic lol.
Jul 31, 2023 · Michael HansenGot here early on a Friday to secure a spot right on the creek. It was awesome. Other campers seemed mostly respectful but unfortunately one group had a few dogs they couldn’t seem to keep on their leashes. We will go back for sure, loved the space between sites and the feeling of really being out in the woods.
