Spring Drive RV Campground Reviews
Paid for full hookups, but the water was off, and the dump was about 50 ft from our parking location. Didn't care for the non-stop barking from the camphost location when the camphost wasn't there. Also didn't care for one of their dogs (aggressive) running free when they were there while walking my small dog on a leash. It was a nice spot though... and I'd go back if I needed an overnight in the location, but I'd know what to expect going into it.
Jul 28, 2023 · Will ReeceSpring Drive RV Campground is a well maintained (Forestry Service) full hookup (50/30/20 AMP, water and sewer) that offers 9 sites that can handle even the largest rigs. It's very quiet with tall trees and shrubbery, gravel pads, fire rings and picnic tables. Elevation is around 3400 feet. The campground is an old Forestry Service work camp that was converted that still has some of the old work cabins on the sites that are not used. The park host do a great job of keeping it clean and well maintained. I was greeted by the park host as I was backing into my site. Of the 9 sites, 7 & 8 are probably the best sites, but that is being very picky because they are all great large sites. Sites 2, 4, 5 & 6 drives are backwards for an easy back in entrance so I suggest turning left as you enter the loop to gain easy back in approach if you're staying at one of these sites. Sites 4, 5, 6 & 7 have a slope up or down (depending on which site) that will be needed to taken into account when you're backing into them, but shouldn't be a problem. Things to consider are: There is absolutely no cell service in the campground. Period. You are in a very remote part of Mt. Hood Forest, but right off Hwy 216. Roads are well maintained. I was able to get 10 OTA channels (ABC, NBC, Local Fox, CW, Bounce and 5 PBS) (Sites 2, 7 & 8 provide the best open sky areas for satellite setup). It's mid May and from what I gather, unusually cold this year, average high 30's at night and mid 50's during the day. It rained everyday making being outside uncomfortable, especially after sunset when the temps dropped fast. There were no bugs because of how cold it was, but I can see when it warms up where that might be a consideration. The closest towns are Government Camp, 21 miles to the north on Hwy 26 and Maupin, 23 miles to the south on Hwy 216. Both offer modest accommodations. Sandy, Oregon is the largest city which is about an hour drive East on Hwy 26 that has all types of accommodations. So bring all provisions you'll need for your stay, or be prepared to drive. Make sure you're fuel is sufficient as Government Camp has 1 gas station (Gas & Diesel) and a small convenience store about 13 miles from camp that has expensive gas and camping food and supplies . Overall, the campground is a bargain, really clean, HUGE back in sites and offers tranquil settings to just relax. There is a really nice ATV/OHV rec area right next to the campground (McCubbins campground) that offers dry camping. I can see where someone who wants to use the OHV area and wants a full hookup, could base camp at Spring Drive and trailer next door to off road. Camping here before May? Expect snow!
May 22, 2019 · Ronald WickeryI've been staying here since end of March and I am enjoying full hookup! This is the only place I know in Mt.Hood NF have full hookup RV campground and the price is 33/night with reservation fees. Since this is full service CG, there is no toilet nor shower. So far I like 3, 8 and 9. Easy back up!! Some sites need 2 to 3 dumphoses!! Enjoy
May 27, 2022 · Hiroko PrimmBeautiful campground. I we there this spring and was going to be working from there. This crazy year changed all those plans unfortunately. And now I hear fire has gone through the camp. Here are pics from spring 2020. Spring snow at site #10
