Cool-Lea Campground Reviews
I brought a group of first time backpackers to Camp Cool-Lea and it was the perfect place to ease them into camping. The highest hill campsite easily accommodating all 7 of our tents with ample space for us to spread out and get privacy. Bob kindly brought up some wood for a campfire without us even asking and he met us at the entrance to the camp to save us the walk to the office. We spoke a number of times leading up to the trip and he was extremely helpful, flexible and excited to have our group come out. We brought some canoes out the day before we arrive so that we could paddle on Cayuta Lake during our stay and the other campers were super friendly, curious and kind and we had great interactions with them as well! The bathrooms, grounds, lake front and campsite were all really tidy, well landscaped and well cared for. Our visit was wonderful and I hope we'll visit this spot as part of our trip every year!
Sep 30, 2024 · Sylvie FroncekWhat great campground , well maintained and very welcoming. Bob and Elvis made our stay so nice, we booked another weekend. Live band on the weekend made for good entertainment. Not far from Watkins Glen if your looking for something more to do. Rest rooms were clean and stocked. Rates are reasonable. Highly recommend.
Aug 26, 2024 · Kelly GalesThis campground has the warmest, friendliest seasonal campers and staff. I’ve been there three times this summer and the vibe has been so relaxed and fun. They’ve had some awesome entertainment, and the food truck is truly an asset. Thanks to the manager, Bob and his German Shepherd, Elvis for making everything so inviting!
Jul 14, 2024 · Teresa BQuiet setting with lake access, tent sites are wooded and secluded. Swim area is nice for children and we enjoyed kayaking on the lake. The lake is a lake has fish ,seaweed ,Lilly pads ,beavers ext..It’s not a chlorinated pool if that’s what you want.
Jun 28, 2024 · MERVIN HURSTThe campground itself is very nice and everyone, staff and campers, were very pleasant.Unfortunately I chose to stay in a “cabin” and did not find the stay worth $70 a night. The size was as advertised, basically a shed, and I was very happy there was a heater available. September in NY is a dice toss. The cabin floor was basically 2x6s with large gaps such as you would see on a deck. You could see the dirt beneath the cabin floor and I was quite worried about unwelcome guests in the night such as snakes or rats. Quite unsettling to me. The windows didn’t work well, had to go outside to close them.It is a beautiful park and close to Watkins Glen, the wineries and most anything you need. There is a convenient store 5 minutes away. Be sure to hit Jerlandos in Montour Falls. The sunrise over the lake was gorgeous. The park seemed very quiet, though I was there in September. Who knows what it’s like during peak season. The weekend food truck is a great bonus. Can’t comment on the entertainment as I was there late season and there was none. Not a negative to me.I’m sure with some TLC, like a real floor, the “cabins” could be improved. I understand the campground is under new ownership so hoping upgrades are on the agenda. If I had a camper I wouldn’t hesitate to stay.
