Immerse Yourself in the Natural Beauty and Trail Access of Frederic:
Trails Campground is situated in Frederic, Michigan, an area known for its natural beauty and extensive network of ORV trails. The campground's most prominent environmental feature is its direct connectivity to these trails, allowing campers to seamlessly transition from their campsite to off-road adventures. This eliminates the need for additional transportation to trailheads, maximizing convenience for ORV riders. While the specific details of the surrounding landscape are not extensively described in the provided reviews, the mention of a "nice" and "quiet" atmosphere suggests a pleasant and tranquil setting. The availability of both standard sites with water and electric hookups and more rustic sites in the back caters to different camping styles and preferences for immersion in nature. The presence of a large central fire pit in the inner circle of sites indicates a communal space for groups to gather, socialize, and enjoy campfires together, fostering a sense of community among campers.
Services and Amenities for a Comfortable and Convenient Stay:
Trails Campground offers several key services and amenities aimed at providing a comfortable and convenient experience for its guests. The availability of campsites with both water and electric hookups is a significant advantage, particularly for RV and camper owners. It's noted that the electric service is 20 amps, so campers requiring higher amperage should be aware and potentially bring an adapter, although one reviewer reported having no problems with the power. For those seeking a more traditional and secluded camping experience, rustic sites are located in the back of the campground. Cleanliness is consistently highlighted in the reviews, with both the campground itself and the shower and bathroom facilities being described as "clean" and even "homey." This attention to hygiene contributes significantly to a positive camping experience. The friendly and accommodating nature of the owners, Jim and his daughter, is also a recurring positive point, with reviewers noting their helpfulness and welcoming demeanor. The mention of firewood availability (though not explicitly stated as a service) is often a standard offering at campgrounds and enhances the camping experience by allowing for campfires. While not a traditional amenity, the presence of a friendly dog belonging to the owners is mentioned as a positive aspect by one reviewer, adding to the welcoming atmosphere.
Key Features and Benefits for a Memorable Camping Trip:
The standout feature of Trails Campground is undoubtedly its direct access to ORV trails, making it an ideal basecamp for off-road adventures in the Frederic area. The combination of sites with water and electric hookups alongside more rustic options provides flexibility for different types of campers. The consistently praised cleanliness of the campground and its facilities ensures a comfortable and hygienic stay. The friendly and accommodating owners contribute significantly to a positive and welcoming atmosphere, making guests feel at ease. The quiet environment is perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from the noise of more crowded campgrounds. The presence of a communal fire pit encourages social interaction among groups. The pet-friendly nature (implied by the mention of the owner's dog and no stated restrictions) is another benefit for campers traveling with their furry companions. The overall impression from the reviews is that Trails Campground offers a well-maintained, conveniently located, and friendly camping experience, particularly appealing to ORV enthusiasts and those seeking a quieter getaway.
Potential Considerations and Missing Information:
While the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, there are a few areas where more information would be beneficial. The specific number of campsites, the layout of the campground beyond the inner circle and the back rustic sites, and details about restroom and shower facilities (number of units, accessibility) are not provided. Information regarding water sources at the rustic sites and waste disposal procedures for all campsites would also be helpful. While electric hookups are mentioned as 20 amps, details about water hookups (e.g., whether they are individual or shared) are not included. Similarly, the availability of other common campground amenities such as picnic tables, individual fire rings (beyond the central group pit), or a camp store is not mentioned. Potential campers with specific needs or preferences regarding these amenities may want to inquire directly with the campground owners. The reviews do not mention any specific rules or regulations for the campground, such as quiet hours (though a quiet atmosphere is noted), pet policies (beyond the friendly owner's dog), or check-in/check-out procedures. Contacting the campground directly would provide clarification on these aspects.

Trails Campground Reviews
Stayed three nights at this campground. Nice, quiet, clean little campground. The owner Jim and his daughter were very friendly and accommodating. You can get on the ORV trails right from the campground. Sites have water and electric, electric is 20 amps so make sure you have an adapter but we had no problems with the power. There are also some rustic sites in the back. The inner circle of sites has a large fire pit for groups. All in all a nice little campground!
Aug 26, 2024 · mitch dickertThe wife and I just spent the weekend here. The owners were very friendly and the dog was awesome---only feed her when nobody is watching because she's supposed to be on a diet. The campground is quiet and the showers and bathrooms are indeed clean and homey. We will definitely be coming back.
Jul 30, 2024 · Brian KinneJust spent 3 days for labor day weekend here. #1, you will never find cleaner bathrooms and showers anywhere, Not even at your own house, #2 owners are awesome, very friendly and accommodating. #3, sites are really nice, #4, campground is quiet and peaceful. #5 you have direct access to orv trails right out the back of the campground. #6, at only $25.00 a night you cant ask for a better place. I really have nothing bad to say. Highly recommend this place to anyone. You won't be disappointed.
Sep 02, 2019 · Robert ReidUsed to be a decent place to camp however clearly the owners are hurting for money or they wouldn't have had to interrupt our stay 3 times trying to overcharge us. If you are going to have a website with prices listed then follow them. Oh and make sure you outline the campsites so it's understood instead of waiting til the last day and conveniently charge for an extra campsite that we apparently had a car partially parked on. Would be understandable if the park was full but when we are the only ones there pretty much just being ridiculous. Nice campground though just absolutely poor management
Jul 18, 2018 · Ariel CooperAwesome family friendly quiet campground with clean restrooms. Close to Graying for kayak canoeing the AuSable. If you want a party camp, probably not the place to stay. Great owners who aim to please. Not sure what the one star rating was about... maybe they got shut down from partying??
