Dent Acres Campground Introduce
Nestled near Orofino, Idaho, Dent Acres Campground provides a scenic escape for those seeking "camping near me" with access to the stunning Dworshak Reservoir. This campground offers spacious campsites and the allure of lakeside recreation, making it a potentially attractive option for local users looking for a tranquil retreat. While the natural beauty of the area is a significant draw, it's important to consider all aspects of the campground based on available user feedback to ensure it aligns with your camping preferences.
Environment and Location: Dent Acres Campground is situated in a beautiful location with direct access to the expansive Dworshak Reservoir. This large reservoir offers opportunities for various water activities, including kayaking, paddling, and potentially fishing and boating (though these are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, the presence of a large lake strongly suggests these possibilities). The surrounding environment is likely characterized by the natural landscapes of northern Idaho, potentially including forests and rolling hills. The reviews highlight the beauty of the place, emphasizing its scenic appeal. However, it's crucial to note that accessing this beauty comes with a caveat: the road leading to the campground is described as curvy and steep. This suggests that drivers, particularly those with larger vehicles or trailers, should exercise caution and ensure their vehicles have good brakes. Despite the challenging access road, the reward is a potentially serene and picturesque camping setting.
Services and Amenities: User reviews indicate that Dent Acres Campground features spacious campsites. This is a significant positive, as ample space can enhance the camping experience, providing more room for setting up and enjoying your surroundings. Notably, all campsites are pull-throughs, which can be convenient for those with trailers or larger vehicles, simplifying the process of parking and departing. However, a significant drawback mentioned is that these pull-through sites are not level. This could require campers to use leveling blocks or other adjustments to ensure their RVs or trailers are properly situated for comfort and functionality. The reviews do not explicitly mention the availability of hookups (water, electricity, sewer), so it's reasonable to assume that these may be limited or non-existent. Information regarding restrooms, showers, or other standard campground amenities is also absent from the provided reviews. Therefore, local users should be prepared for potentially basic facilities or consider contacting the campground directly for specific details on available amenities.
Features and Activities: The primary feature of Dent Acres Campground is its direct access to the Dworshak Reservoir. The reviews specifically mention the enjoyment of paddling kayaks on the lake, indicating it's a prime location for non-motorized water sports. The beauty of the lake itself is repeatedly emphasized, suggesting it's a significant attraction for campers seeking a lakeside experience. While not explicitly stated, the presence of a large reservoir often implies opportunities for fishing and potentially boating, which local users might find appealing. The campground is described as very quiet on weekdays and "not too bad" on weekends, suggesting it can offer a peaceful retreat, especially during the week. The spacious campsites also contribute to a more comfortable and less crowded feel.
Important Considerations and Potential Drawbacks: Several important considerations arise from the user reviews. The poor condition of the asphalt on the roads and campsites is a significant drawback. This could impact the ease of movement within the campground and potentially the setup of your campsite. The unlevel pull-through sites are another crucial point to consider, requiring extra effort for leveling. The challenging access road, with its curves and steep inclines, necessitates careful driving and may be a deterrent for some, particularly those with very large or heavy vehicles. Another significant limitation reported is the very limited Verizon cell phone service, with a booster proving ineffective. This lack of connectivity could be a concern for those who need to stay in touch or rely on internet access during their camping trip. Local users should be prepared for potential communication limitations while at the campground.
Promotional Information and Local Appeal: For local residents in the "camping near me" category seeking a beautiful lakeside getaway, Dent Acres Campground offers the allure of Dworshak Reservoir and spacious campsites. The opportunity for kayaking and enjoying the tranquility of the lake, particularly on weekdays, could be very appealing. The spaciousness of the sites might also be a significant advantage for families or groups who appreciate having more room. Despite the drawbacks, the natural beauty and the access to water activities make it a potentially attractive option for those prioritizing a scenic and peaceful environment over modern amenities and easy access. Local users who are prepared for a more rustic experience and the challenges of the road and unlevel sites might find the beauty of the location worthwhile.
Staying Informed: Given the limited information on amenities and the specific issues raised in the reviews regarding road conditions, site levelness, and cell service, it is highly recommended that local users contact Dent Acres Campground directly at (208) 476-1255 or +1 208-476-1255 for the most up-to-date information. Inquiring about the availability of amenities (restrooms, showers, hookups), the current condition of the roads and campsites, and any recent changes or updates is crucial for planning a successful camping trip. Understanding these details will help local campers determine if Dent Acres Campground meets their specific needs and expectations for a "camping near me" experience focused on lakeside recreation.

Dent Acres Campground Reviews
The campground itself was ok with spacious sites, but the asphalt on the roads and the sites was horrible. All sites are pull throughs that are not level. The road to get there is a trip with lots of curves and steep inclines. The lake is beautiful and we enjoyed paddling our kayaks there. We had very limited Verizon service. Our cellphone booster didn't help.
Jul 25, 2022 · Tamara FoxWhat a beautiful place! The road is very curvy and steep so have good brakes, but well worth it. Very quiet weekdays and not too bad on weekends.
Aug 06, 2018 · P OViews are beautiful! Nice clean campground and bathrooms. Great boat ramp with parking. Most spots are pull-thru.

Jun 05, 2023 · amelia laneSmall, very small spaces. Not much room to enjoy camping even in the tent spaces. The water though clean and cold does not fully shut off and caused damage to my RV which is of course on me to fix. The volunteers now the grass even if you are in a spot with no care for if you want to listen to a weed eater for 45 minutes or not. A week after the rain stopped the fire ring is still flooded as is the spot I was assigned. I doubt I will stay here again without being forced to...
