Elkhorn Campgrounds offers a straightforward approach to camping, focusing on providing the essentials for travelers and event attendees. According to recent visitor feedback, the campground is particularly well-suited for those attending events at the nearby Alpine Valley Music Theatre. Its short distance to the venue makes it a convenient and practical choice for concertgoers looking for an overnight stay.
The camping environment at Elkhorn Campgrounds is described as basic. Sites are marked by placards in the grass, and while some visitors noted that locating their specific site could be a little challenging, most campers found a spot close to an electrical outlet and a water faucet. This setup provides the fundamental necessities for a comfortable overnight stop.
In terms of services and amenities, Elkhorn Campgrounds offers a 30 amp electrical service, catering to the basic power needs of most RVs and campers. It's important to note that the campground is described as not having a lot of additional amenities, focusing instead on providing the essential hookups. This makes it an ideal choice for those who are self-sufficient and primarily need a place to park and plug in for the night.
One of the key features highlighted by visitors is the ease of making online reservations. The automated response system for online bookings is reported to be efficient and helpful, streamlining the process of securing a campsite. This user-friendly approach to reservations adds to the convenience of choosing Elkhorn Campgrounds for your short-term needs.
The location of Elkhorn Campgrounds within the Walworth County Fairgrounds offers a unique camping experience. While this provides easy access to any events happening at the fairgrounds, it also means that the primary appeal of this campground is its practicality for specific purposes, such as attending concerts at Alpine Valley or participating in events at the fairgrounds. For those seeking a destination campground with extensive recreational facilities and a wide array of amenities, Elkhorn Campgrounds might not be the first choice. However, for its intended purpose as a convenient overnight stop, it serves its function well.
Customer reviews indicate that the interaction with campground staff is minimal. Some visitors mentioned not encountering a camp host or any campground personnel during their stay. This hands-off approach can be seen as both a pro and a con, depending on individual preferences. Campers who value privacy and independence might appreciate the lack of direct interaction, while those who prefer more assistance and on-site management might find this aspect less appealing.
Considering its moderate pricing around $40 per night and its focus on basic amenities, Elkhorn Campgrounds offers a budget-friendly option for short-term camping needs. It provides a practical solution for travelers passing through the area or those attending specific events nearby.
In summary, if you are looking for "camping near me" and need a conveniently located, moderately priced campground with basic 30 amp electrical service for an overnight stay, especially in connection with events at Alpine Valley Music Theatre or the Walworth County Fairgrounds, Elkhorn Campgrounds is a viable option. Its easy online reservation system and functional setup cater to those seeking a no-fuss camping experience. Elkhorn Campgrounds Reviews
June 21st we stayed the night for a DMB concert at Alpine Valley 👍 short distance and everything you need for an overnighter. Sites are numbered by placards in the grass. Sites were challenging to find but everyone seems to get close to their site near an outlet and faucet. We would stay here again given another concert in the area
Jul 08, 2024 · William SchmittModerately priced at $40, not a lot of amenities just basic pull up, plug in for 30 amp service and that's about it. It was easy to make reservations online, and the auto responses were nice. You are basically in the middle of the County Fairgrounds. We never talked to a camp host and nobody approached us. Unless you had a need to be at the Walworth County Fairgrounds, I probably would not choose it as a destination campground, but if you need a place overnight in getting from here to there it's nice.
Aug 04, 2024 · Bishop Media-KenBeautiful little campground. We stayed on a Sunday night so hardly anyone else there. Loved the shade trees in our section (408). Only suggestion would be to make sure you know your site on the map. The sites are not well marked. The grass was cut and trash collected early Monday. Perfect stop over. In town, so easy to cycle around.
Jul 25, 2022 · Benny BookwormWe stopped there on our way to Rushmore and it was a nice place, easy to access electricity and water. We were basically alone, except for another camper. I guess the fact that there was no fair during our stop explain this great quietness! A lot of shades but difficult to find our site since locations are on the ground and difficult to read but we ended up just picking one. We got there at 6pm and even if you call there is no assistance available.
Jul 27, 2023 · Patrick Tanguycame here for a jaripeo and had so much fun! entrance was a little confusing but was fine once we got in. we drove 3 hours to go to the jaripeo and everyone that was there was really friendly too. would definitely love to go again for another jari! wish they did them all the time but on different days :( parking was fine, didn’t have to pay which was a bonus.
