Elkins Creek Horse Camp & Tack Reviews
We've been coming to Elkins since 2018 and every year trails improve and the camp itself improves! Love Rick and Jill and they've now become extended family that we get to visit every year. Still our favorite campground!
Sep 15, 2024 · Nick and Kandice HendricksMy favorite place to ride and camp! Jill and Rick are always so helpful and I always make new friends there. The trails are well marked and well maintained. Thank you!
Apr 20, 2025 · maggie stackMy husband and I had a wonderful stay at Elkins Creek. We arrived late afternoon on Saturday and Rick greeted us at the entrance and quickly found us a wonderful site for our trailer next to the creek and stalls for our horses at the barn just 50 ft away. We got a short ride in that evening on the trails which are adjacent to the campground. Sunday was a bit rainy, but we got in a 3 hour ride on the paddle creek loop. Rained out Monday, but met a great group of ladies that were regulars. On Tuesday, Jill and the other ladies and us packed up the horses and trailered out to where the best views were by Lake Vesuvius and rode for 3 hours. Amazing ride and spectacular views! Campground is clean and rustic and very fun to stay at. Rick and Jill are laid back and very hospitable. We will be back again!
Oct 17, 2018 · Joanna WerrWe had another great stay and great riding at Elkins Creek. They were almost full but it didn’t feel crowded. We always enjoy seeing Rick and Jill who are super hosts. The trails were great! We especially enjoyed the Vista ride as well as multiple rides that took us through the super cool rock houses. We were completely offline with no internet which felt great! There is a house land line that you can use to call home.
Oct 31, 2021 · Sherri KrazlAbsolutely awesome. From the time you pull in with great welcome . To leaving with a great friendship. This campground is a horseman’s dream . My opinion! They have stalls , tack shop with nice things to buy and things you might need you forgot. And if they don’t have it for sell jill will let you borrow it if she has it. She is definitely one of gods angels 👼. Clean showers and bathrooms. Nice family atmosphere. They work very hard to keep trails cleared . With the beautiful caves and rock formations. It can be a challenge when raining weather hits. We rode 3 days this week. Hardly crossed same trail . Trails marked great. If you love trail riding you can’t ask for any better place in ohio. Even better then hocking hills. They do a lot of events for charity also. And you get great meals and entertainment for small donation.
