Emily Lake Campground Introduce
For those in Wisconsin and the surrounding region seeking a long-established and highly regarded "camping near me" experience in the heart of the Northwoods, Emily Lake Campground, located on Emily Lake Rd, Lac Du Flambeau, WI 54558, USA, offers a compelling option. Reachable by phone at (715) 362-1300 or mobile at +1 715-362-1300, this campground has been a favorite among campers for decades, as evidenced by reviews from loyal visitors who have been coming since the 1970s. Its key features include good lake access, a strategic location for exploring nearby lakes and rivers, affordable pricing, and abundant wildlife, making it an excellent choice for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts.
The environment surrounding Emily Lake Campground is characterized by the typical Northwoods landscape of Northern Wisconsin: numerous lakes, winding rivers, and dense forests. Emily Lake itself is described as a "beautiful small lake" with a boat launch, providing direct access for boating and fishing. The campground's location also serves as a "great jumpoff" point for exploring other nearby lakes and rivers, including the Flambeau River, which is known for its scenic beauty and canoeing opportunities. The area is particularly noted for canoe fishing, suggesting that paddlers can easily access prime fishing spots from Emily Lake Campground.
One unique feature highlighted by a long-time camper is the "Tucker portage," which is described as "fun," indicating the potential for adventurous exploration of interconnected waterways. The lakes in the area are also noted for their deceptive nature, hinting at good fishing opportunities, with the potential to catch "large fish." This makes Emily Lake Campground an attractive destination for anglers seeking both the tranquility of a smaller lake and access to larger fishing grounds.
The reviews also mention the presence of "several campgrounds in this area," all deemed "worthwhile," suggesting that Emily Lake Campground is part of a larger network of quality camping destinations in the Lac Du Flambeau region. The abundance of "lots of wildlife" further enhances the natural appeal of the area, offering opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.
It's important to note a specific environmental characteristic mentioned by a reviewer: the presence of swampy areas between ridges. Campers should be prepared for this type of terrain, particularly when venturing beyond the immediate campground area. However, this natural feature also contributes to the rich biodiversity and the potential for wildlife encounters.
In terms of services and features, Emily Lake Campground offers a blend of essential amenities and natural access, with a focus on a more traditional camping experience. Based on the reviews, these likely include:
- Lake access sites: Many campsites offer convenient access to Emily Lake, allowing for easy enjoyment of the water.

- Spacious sites: Campers have noted that the sites are well-sized, offering ample room for tents, RVs, and outdoor activities.

- Pit toilet: Indicating more rustic restroom facilities compared to flush toilets and showers, which aligns with the campground's affordable pricing.
- Paved or mostly paved access roads: Making it an "easy drive in" for various types of vehicles.
One reviewer mentioned the apparent absence of a host on site, which is something to be aware of for campers who might prefer having on-site management readily available. However, the same reviewer noted the presence of a full-time resident who seemed nice, potentially offering a degree of informal assistance or community presence.

Emily Lake Campground Reviews
Have been camping here since the 70s. Good lake access sites and a great jumpoff for nearby lakes and rivers. Canoe fishing is good in this area. Tucker portage is fun as is the Flambeau. Lakes here are deceptive and produce some large fish. The several campgrounds in this area are all worthwhile. Lots of wildlife.Swampy between ridges so be ready for that. Fun towns nearby. Excellent grouse but you have to work for it. A couple weeks in this area in early autumn is time well spent.
Aug 19, 2023 · Allan NorgaardReally nice campground!! Can’t beat the price compared to local private places. Good spacious sites, easy drive in, paved almost the whole way. Water pump. Pit toilet. Boat launch on beautiful small lake. There is a family living full time in one of the sites, but they seem nice. No host on site ever apparently.
Oct 08, 2021 · Daniel PothierHoly mosquitoes! There were other campers when I visited, one group was up drinking and being loud til all hours then some genious in another site was up at the buttcrack of dawn running a chainsaw. After a day on the water with only 3 tiny bluegills we packed up and went elsewhere. Did I mention the mosquitoes!? May have to get tested for west Nile!
Jun 19, 2016 · Matt DrabekEverything a campground should be. Private and clean. Bbq pits, restrooms and a nice lake. No fish but nice lake.
Nov 06, 2018 · Terilee MeluginLots of crappie. A few pike. Private sites but the skeeters are awful. Might just br bad timing.
