Situated in a beautiful area with opportunities for hiking and fishing, Erbie Campground caters to a variety of camping styles, including solo, group, and unique walk-in sites, all within easy reach for local outdoor enthusiasts.
The region surrounding Harrison, Arkansas, is renowned for its rugged natural beauty, largely due to its proximity to the Buffalo National River, America's first national river. This area boasts stunning landscapes, including towering bluffs, clear flowing waters, and extensive hiking trails winding through diverse forests. Erbie Campground benefits immensely from this location, providing local campers with immediate access to the recreational opportunities and scenic vistas that the Buffalo River area is famous for. The availability of hiking and fishing directly from or near the campground makes it an ideal basecamp for exploring this natural treasure.
One of the unique features of Erbie Campground is its provision for various camping preferences. Whether you are a solo adventurer seeking solitude in nature, a group of friends or family planning a collective outdoor experience, or someone intrigued by the appeal of walk-in campsites that offer a more secluded and primitive feel, Erbie Campground has options to suit your needs. The mention of walk-in sites suggests opportunities for a more backcountry-like experience without venturing too far from established facilities, which can be particularly appealing for local users looking for a blend of accessibility and immersion in nature.
In terms of essential amenities, Erbie Campground offers the welcome convenience of flushing toilets and well pumps for water. As highlighted by a delighted reviewer, the bathrooms at Erbie Campground are exceptionally well-maintained and stocked, a feature that significantly enhances the camping experience. The reviewer specifically noted the presence of flushing toilets (a step up from typical vault toilets found in more rustic campgrounds), multiple rolls of toilet paper, air freshener, lighting, a heater for cooler seasons, and a sink with a functional soap dispenser, all kept very clean. This level of care for basic facilities is a strong indicator of a campground that prioritizes the comfort and well-being of its guests, something that local campers will undoubtedly appreciate.
The mention of a $20 fee suggests that Erbie Campground offers an affordable option for local users seeking "camping near me" without breaking the bank. This reasonable pricing, combined with the beautiful location and well-maintained facilities, makes it an attractive choice for budget-conscious outdoor enthusiasts in the Harrison area.
It's important to note that the campground is located a 5-mile drive down a gravel road from Highway 7. While this might deter some, it also contributes to the sense of being away from the main thoroughfare and more immersed in nature. Local users who appreciate a bit of seclusion and are equipped for gravel road travel will likely find this part of the experience worthwhile, leading to a more peaceful and less crowded camping destination.
One significant aspect to be aware of at Erbie Campground is the lack of cell service. For local users who rely heavily on their mobile devices for communication or navigation, this is a crucial consideration. However, for those seeking a true digital detox and an opportunity to disconnect and fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings, the absence of cell service can be a welcome feature. In case of emergencies, there is an emergency phone available at the boat launch restroom, providing a vital link to the outside world when needed.
The presence of a boat launch suggests that Erbie Campground provides access to water-based activities, likely on the Buffalo National River or a significant tributary. This opens up opportunities for local campers to enjoy fishing, kayaking, or canoeing, further enhancing the recreational appeal of the campground.
The positive review specifically mentions the current camp host and their dedication to maintaining the campground to a high standard. A caring and attentive camp host can significantly impact the overall camping experience, ensuring that facilities are clean, rules are followed, and guests feel welcome and safe. The reviewer's strong recommendation of Erbie Campground underscores the positive impression left by the host and the campground itself.

Erbie Campground Reviews
Nice place with hikes, fishing, solo, and group camping. Walk-in sites are cool. Flushing toilets and well pumps. 5 mile drive down a gravel road from hwy 7. $20. I was there while the cicadas were unearthing. Zero cell service. Emergency phone at boat launch restroom.
Jun 05, 2024 · Bay DreamerI have never seen a campground with nicer bathrooms. The whole campground was lovely and well maintained and the area was beautiful. But those bathrooms were a work of art. A flushing toilet (i.e., not a vault toilet), six rolls of toilet paper, an air freshener, lighting, a heater, a sink with a soap dispenser that wasn’t empty. And all very clean to boot. The current camp host obviously cares about her work and does an amazing job. If you’re in the area, I couldn’t recommend this campground more!
Mar 20, 2025 · Maggie BlomfieldAmazing place. There is an old homestead you can walk through. We camped at Erbie and floated. We walked down two trails. One went to the homestead. The other leads to the river. The homestead trail will also take you to the river. No glass containers on the river, rangers are out and give tickets. there are bathrooms, but there is no running water. Bring your own toilet paper and trash bags. You have to bring all your trash out when you leave.
May 30, 2023 · Erik FreyThis is a free national riverway limited campground very close to the river with basic campground facilities no flush toilets. But the idea that you could camp free so close along the river was just awesome. This is a rare area along the Buffalo River where you can actually bike up River, drop off your vehicle, and kayak back to the campground for about a half hour float, or longer if you want to kayak upstream. There is a low water bridge that crosses the river about a mile upstream of the campground near the old town of Erbie. The kayaking was really fun even in low water and was a great experience.
Jun 20, 2022 · Dgv11Beautiful experience, quite and relaxing, perfect for the family, not crowded at all, free camping, which your rarely see, trails, old homesteads to hike too, walk to the Buffalo River. Just a absolutely tranquility for my families getaway weekend
