Far Meadow Introduce
Far Meadow, located at Bass Lake, CA 93604, USA, presents a distinctive and intriguing option for those seeking an outdoor escape in California. While the category "Camping Near Me" typically brings to mind traditional tent or RV sites, Far Meadow offers a more unique accommodation experience, comprising a collection of cabins and outfitted trailers. This blend of rustic charm with curated living spaces aims to provide a "simply stunning and incredibly relaxing" retreat in the heart of the Sierra National Forest.
The environment at Far Meadow is undoubtedly one of its most appealing features. Situated "above Bass Lake (and the snow line)" and within the Sierra National Forest, guests are immersed in a beautiful woodland setting. The properties are surrounded by Ponderosa pines, oak, and manzanita trees, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop. The descriptions of the A-Frame cabins mention "floor-to-ceiling window and skylights" that offer "amazing views of the nearby mountain and stream," indicating a strong connection to the natural landscape. The remote location ensures a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, ideal for those looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the tranquility of the forest. Guests can expect fresh air and a sense of solitude, contributing to a truly relaxing getaway. The presence of streams nearby suggests opportunities for the soothing sounds of flowing water, further enhancing the peaceful ambiance.
Far Meadow offers a variety of accommodations, making it more akin to a glamping or cabin rental experience than a traditional campground. Based on available information, the properties include:
- A-Frame Cabins: There are reportedly two sunlight-drenched A-frame cabins, with one being a newer addition and another older one. These cabins are described as having beautiful staircases and mid-century modern furniture, heated by wood-burning stoves, and powered by solar energy, creating a cozy and insulated experience. They feature large windows and skylights for immersive views. One A-frame mentioned has a queen bed on the top floor and a sofa bed on the ground, with an outside fire pit, barbeque, and outdoor dining furniture.
- Log Cabin: A classic American log cabin is also part of the collection, offering a more traditional rustic appeal.
- Outfitted Trailers: Two outfitted trailers provide another unique and comfortable option for guests.
- "Base Camp" Cabin: One description mentions a 750-square-foot pine cabin with a second bedroom and French doors opening onto a deck, situated on 5 High Sierra acres. This suggests a more substantial cabin suitable for families or groups.
These accommodations are designed with "modern amenities needed for a getaway in the woods," including full-size kitchen appliances, renovated bathrooms, and possibly features like a bar or coffee station. While some amenities might include free Wi-Fi in rooms, the overall emphasis is on providing a comfortable yet rustic experience.
Regarding services, it appears Far Meadow focuses on providing self-contained accommodations. Each unit seems to come equipped with kitchen facilities, patio areas, and outdoor furniture for dining. The mention of private fire pits and barbeques suggests that guests are encouraged to enjoy outdoor cooking. However, it's crucial to note that guest experiences with hospitality and booking services have been a significant point of concern, as detailed in a prominent customer review. This review highlights issues with booking cancellations during the COVID-19 pandemic, difficulties in obtaining refunds, and poor communication with a host identified as "Kris." The reviewer describes an "extremely poor experience with Kris and her hospitality," citing refusal to refund despite inability to provide the originally booked location, extended delays in processing a refund, and unresponsiveness to phone calls and emails. This indicates that while the physical location and cabins are appealing, the administrative and customer service aspects have, at least in some instances, fallen short of expectations. Prospective guests should consider this feedback when making reservations and potentially seek clear communication regarding booking policies, cancellation terms, and points of contact for any issues. The phone numbers provided are (559) 663-7768 and +1 559-663-7768, which guests would use for inquiries.
The features of Far Meadow extend beyond the immediate living spaces to the extensive recreational opportunities available in the surrounding area. Located near Bass Lake, guests have access to a popular vacation destination known for its pristine waters and sandy shores. Activities at Bass Lake include boating, swimming (with summer water temperatures near 80 degrees), watersports, and fishing for various species like trout, bass, and salmon. Several marinas offer boat and watercraft rentals. Beyond the lake, the Sierra National Forest provides vast opportunities for hiking, with "secret swimming holes and quiet hiking trails right on your doorstep." The proximity to Yosemite National Park (reportedly about an hour's drive) is also a major draw, allowing guests to use Far Meadow as a comfortable base for exploring the iconic national park, though it's important to note the travel time to popular Yosemite Valley locations. The area offers diverse terrains suitable for various outdoor activities, including scenic drives and wildlife viewing.
For promotional purposes, Far Meadow can leverage its unique accommodations, serene natural environment, and proximity to major attractions like Bass Lake and Yosemite National Park. Marketing efforts could highlight the "hidden gem" aspect, appealing to those who seek a unique and peaceful escape rather than a conventional camping spot. Emphasizing the "stunning and incredibly relaxing" atmosphere, coupled with the distinctive architectural designs of the A-frames and the rustic charm of the log cabin, would attract guests looking for a memorable stay. Highlighting the self-contained nature of the accommodations with amenities like full kitchens and outdoor dining areas can appeal to those desiring a home-away-from-home experience in nature. However, it is crucial that any promotional material also addresses the importance of clear communication and reliable customer service, perhaps by ensuring that booking policies are transparent and multiple channels for support are readily available. Given past feedback, reassuring potential guests about improved service or clear contact protocols could build trust. Promotions might also focus on seasonal activities, such as swimming and fishing in summer, or the beauty of "Technicolor fall foliage" in autumn, suggesting different times to visit. The provided phone numbers (559) 663-7768 and +1 559-663-7768 are the direct channels for prospective guests to inquire about availability, rates, and booking policies.
In conclusion, Far Meadow near Bass Lake, CA, offers a truly distinctive and appealing outdoor accommodation experience for those searching for "Camping Near Me" with a twist. Its collection of uniquely designed cabins and trailers provides a comfortable and tranquil retreat amidst the natural splendor of the Sierra National Forest. While the location and physical properties are highly praised for their beauty and relaxing ambiance, potential guests should be aware of past customer service challenges related to booking and refunds. For visitors prioritizing a serene environment, unique lodging, and convenient access to Bass Lake and Yosemite's extensive outdoor activities, Far Meadow offers an opportunity for a memorable and immersive nature getaway, provided they seek clear communication and understanding of booking terms.

Far Meadow Reviews
I was really excited to stay at Far Meadow, the location and the cabin seemed incredible. However because of my extremely poor experience with Kris and her hospitality, I cannot recommend guests to stay away enough.I had booked a stay at the start of COVID in March. Due to shelter in place mandates, I decided to cancel my stay. Kris offered to give me credit to rebook in the future rather than refund, fair enough.Come July, I was interested in rebooking for later in the summer. However, apparently my original location that I booked for was sold and Kris had not informed me. The remaining location was fully booked and my credit was only applicable now for June 2021, well past a year of my original booking. Kris refused to refund me despite not even being able to offer what I originally spent my money on.We agreed on a refund, and I spent nearly 2 months trying to get my money back. Kris did not respond to phone calls or emails for weeks. I only got a response after I tracked down a responsible individual from their phone line. Although this may be a nice location, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who wants to have a nice experience with an accommodating host.
