French Creek Campground Introduce
For local users in Idaho searching for "camping near me" around the scenic Cascade area, French Creek Campground, located at 870 West Mountain Rd, Cascade, ID 83611, offers a highly regarded option for a lakeside getaway. With contact phone numbers (208) 382-5106 and +1 208-382-5106, this campground has garnered positive reviews for its beautiful environment, well-maintained facilities, and access to Lake Cascade for boating and other recreational activities.
The environment of French Creek Campground is consistently praised by visitors. Situated near Lake Cascade, the campground offers gorgeous lake views, allowing campers to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area. The presence of both upper and lakeside camping areas provides different experiences for visitors. The upper French Creek area is highlighted as a favorite by one reviewer, noted for its "lots of great spots," many of which are described as "very private" with "wonderful surroundings." This suggests that local users seeking a secluded and tranquil camping experience might find the upper section particularly appealing. Wildlife enthusiasts will also appreciate the frequent visits of deer to the edge of the camp, along with other small critters, adding to the natural charm of the location. Importantly, reviewers have noted no problems with the wildlife, indicating a safe coexistence.
The lakeside campground also boasts its own unique features. Reviewers describe the campsites as "nicely separated," ensuring a sense of privacy and preventing campers from feeling crowded. The provision of good shade at every site is another significant advantage, offering respite from the sun, although some sunlight may filter through the trees. Each campsite is equipped with a large picnic table and a fire pit, providing essential amenities for outdoor dining and campfires. For those seeking a particularly enchanting spot, site number eight is located right next to a creek, offering the soothing sound of running water throughout the night. Additionally, site number six is noted for its spaciousness, including a padded area suitable for tents, with room for even more tents, making it ideal for larger groups or families.
In terms of services and facilities, French Creek Campground is generally well-maintained and kept clean, contributing to a positive camping experience. While the upper campground's bathroom and water spigot situation is not detailed, the lakeside campground offers "plenty of bathrooms and water spouts" in one area. However, it's important to note that the lakeside campground itself has only one bathroom, water spigot, and trash can. Therefore, for those camping closer to the lake, these facilities are conveniently located. One reviewer advises that if frequent bathroom trips are a concern, securing a site closer to the water is recommended due to the proximity of the bathroom.
Access to recreational activities is a significant feature of French Creek Campground. Its proximity to Lake Cascade makes it an excellent base for boating. One reviewer specifically mentions it as a good place to launch boats without the congestion found at other access points. The campground's location also provides easy access to "all kinds of activities," although the specific activities are not detailed in the reviews. Given the Cascade area's natural landscape, these could include hiking, fishing, swimming, and exploring the surrounding mountains and forests.
While the overall sentiment towards French Creek Campground is overwhelmingly positive, one reviewer noted that it can get "kind of busy," which might be a consideration for local users seeking absolute solitude. The presence of a public dock at the end of the campground road contributes to this, as boaters frequently use the road to access the lake. Additionally, there was some confusion reported regarding first-come, first-served campsites, with visitors struggling to locate the campground host for information. The reviewer recommends reserving campsites online to avoid this confusion, highlighting the ease and convenience of the online reservation system.
Despite the occasional busyness and the minor inconvenience of a potentially absent campground host at times, the overwhelming consensus is that French Creek Campground is a "really lovely campground" offering a high-quality camping experience. The combination of beautiful lakeside views, private and well-shaded campsites, the soothing sounds of the creek at certain sites, and the easy access to boating and other activities make it a highly desirable "camping near me" option for local users in the Cascade, Idaho area.
In conclusion, French Creek Campground stands out as a well-maintained and scenic camping destination near Lake Cascade. Its diverse campsite options, ranging from private spots in the upper area to lakeside sites with beautiful views and even creek-side locations, cater to various preferences. The easy access to boating on Lake Cascade and the proximity to other recreational activities further enhance its appeal. While it can get busy at times, and there might be occasional issues with campground host availability, the overall positive feedback regarding the environment, campsite quality, and amenities makes French Creek Campground a top recommendation for local users seeking a memorable lakeside camping experience in Idaho. Utilizing the online reservation system is advised to secure preferred sites and avoid any confusion upon arrival.

French Creek Campground Reviews
French creek is a good place to go. Especially if you want to go boating and not be around as many other people getting their boats out. Upper French Creek is my favorite though. Lots of great spots. Many are very private and have wonderful surroundings. Deer come through the edge of camp often, along with many other little critters. Never had any problems with the wildlife though. Easy to get to all kinds of activities from camp. Always kept clean and well maintained.
Aug 08, 2023 · Shayla HutchisonReally lovely campground, I really liked it. The campsites were nicely separated, so you don't feel like you are on top of each other. Every site has good shade, of course the sun might peek through the trees, but it's okay. Each side has a large picnic table and a fire pit. The views of the lake are gorgeous, and you can walk up and down the road to see more. Site number eight is so fun, the creek runs right beyond it! Gorgeous to listen to at night. Across the way spot number six is huge, with one padded area for tents, but you could definitely put more tents around. The rest of the sites are great for RVs or tents. The upper campground has a good sites too, the sides closer to the lake would be great for tent camping. There are plenty of bathrooms and water spouts on the other campground. Only one bathroom and water spouts and trash can in the lakeside campground, so if you have a frequent pee'er, get a site that's closer to the water, because the bathroom is right next to the lake. The only reason why I give it a 4 out of 5 stars is because it is kind of busy. I guess the dock at the end of the road is a public dock, so you will often get people with their boats coming down the road. also, I'm not sure where the campground host was this weekend, but a lot of people couldn't find them and would often asked me or my husband questions, maybe because we were one of the first people you would see. There was a lot of confusion going on about the first come first serve sites. Honestly, just reserve them on the website. So much easier!
Jun 20, 2020 · Andrea Alverson (Andi)Overall it was a great campground. They allow 2 cars at most sites so we had room for our suburban and a motor home. The bathrooms were clean compared to most campgrounds I have been to. I was in site #13. The tent spot ees large enough for my 10 person tent but it wasn't level. The site around the fire ring wasn't level either but only a slight grade. My folding shovel came in handy to dig out little holes for the seats to make them level. The site wasn't too close to our neighbors. We took the kids a mile down the road to a boat launch park to swim. There is sand to road on while the kids swam. Docked one star for the less than level tent site. Overall, it was a fun weekend!
Sep 05, 2017 · David WestlakeA little hidden gem in Boise NF. Great sites, level plots for tents. Our host Carla was super friendly with good tips on the area. Super clean vault toilets and great drinking water. No showers. Super relaxing environment. Loved site 3, near the bathrooms and water with plenty of shade.
Jul 25, 2018 · Jackie SpencerWent mid week and the place was nice and quiet. The spot we were in was tight. Made my wife cringe getting into it. The Camp ground hosts were nice and kept the place clean -- including the vault toilets. Only has potable water out of a hose and not at each site.
