Hickory Creek Campground, located at 1201 Point Vista Rd, Hickory Creek, TX 75065, USA, presents a compelling option. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground boasts a beautiful, tree-shaded environment with abundant wildlife and lovely lake views. While there are a few minor drawbacks to consider, the overall sentiment suggests a good place for a relaxing and convenient outdoor getaway.
The environment at Hickory Creek Campground is consistently described as beautiful, with one reviewer specifically mentioning "lovely tree shaded sites." This suggests that campers can expect a significant amount of natural shade, making it a comfortable option during the warmer Texas months. The presence of "a lot of wildlife" adds to the natural appeal, offering opportunities for nature observation and a more immersive outdoor experience. Furthermore, the campground offers "serene lake views," indicating a picturesque setting that enhances the tranquility of the location. Being situated near Hickory Creek, it's likely that the campground benefits from the natural beauty of the lake and its surrounding landscape. The combination of shade, wildlife, and lake views creates a desirable environment for local users seeking a peaceful "camping near me" destination.
In terms of services, Hickory Creek Campground appears to prioritize the comfort and convenience of its guests. Each campsite is equipped with a "great picnic area," providing a dedicated space for outdoor dining and gathering. The park attendants, with a special mention of Debbie, are noted as being "very helpful," suggesting a responsive and supportive staff that can enhance the overall camping experience. The lots are described as "decently spaced," implying a degree of privacy and room to enjoy your campsite without feeling too crowded. While there are no sewer hookups at individual sites, a dump station is available for RV users. However, one significant drawback mentioned is that while the dump station has two lanes, it only has one sewer hole, which can lead to congestion, particularly during checkout times when many campers are leaving simultaneously. Another noted downside is that the showers "did not seem to have water that got very hot," which could be a concern for some visitors, especially during cooler weather. Despite these limitations, the availability of helpful staff and individual picnic areas contributes positively to the services offered.
The features of Hickory Creek Campground are numerous and appealing. The beautiful, tree-shaded sites are a major draw, providing comfort and a pleasant natural ambiance. The abundance of wildlife offers opportunities for nature enthusiasts to observe local fauna. The serene lake views enhance the scenic beauty of the campground and provide a relaxing backdrop for camping. The provision of a great picnic area at each lot adds convenience for outdoor meals and gatherings. The decently spaced lots contribute to a more private and enjoyable camping experience. The campground's proximity to town is also a significant feature, offering easy access to local amenities, supplies, and attractions. However, potential campers should be aware of the need for "some extra work to get level" on certain sites, which might require leveling blocks for RVs. The limited hot water in the showers and the potentially congested single-sewer-hole dump station are also features to consider when planning your stay. Overall, the combination of natural beauty, individual picnic areas, helpful staff, and convenient location makes Hickory Creek Campground a desirable "camping near me" option, despite a couple of noted infrastructural limitations.

Hickory Creek Campground Reviews
Beautiful campgrounds. A lot of wildlife. Park attendants, especially Debbie, were very helpful. Each lot has a great picnic area. Decently spaced lots. Some require some extra work to get level. Close to town. Only downsides are the showers did not seem to have water that got very hot and the dump station can get rather congested. Although it has two lanes, it only has one sewer hole to dump which is rather inconvenient when everyone is checking out given there are no sewer hookups in the park. But overall, a good place.
Nov 27, 2024 · Cyndi HuffmanThis was our second stay at the campground. Lovely tree shaded sites. Serene lake views. We will be back.
Apr 16, 2025 · Michelle WillerWe always make this our first outing of the year in our travel trailer. This is the cleanest, most well maintained park we stay at.
Mar 20, 2025 · Janet GaddGreat experience!! Enjoyed camping and seeing all the wildlife. We had a group of at least 11 deer come into our campsite. Very fun and relaxing time.
Apr 21, 2025 · SamanthaPretty park, lots of deer wondering around especially in the evening and at night- whimsical. Parked at spot 70 (right in front of the field). Bus conversions are allowed (at least we were in our Chevy cutaway 3500, would need to call them if you have a yellow school bus). Bathrooms were the least favorite part: quite cold, metal toilets, nonetheless they were clean. Not many trails. Good if you like to fish, the lake is nice and big.
