HTR Adirondacks Campground Introduce
For local users seeking a family-oriented camping experience in the heart of the Adirondacks, the search for "camping near me" might lead you to HTR Adirondacks Campground, located at 1334 NY-28 in Old Forge, NY 13420. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers a blend of friendly service, clean facilities, and a range of amenities suitable for families with children, all within a beautiful Adirondack setting and at what are considered "great prices." However, potential visitors should also be aware of some considerations regarding campsite spacing and proximity to a main road.
The environment surrounding HTR Adirondacks Campground is described as a "beautiful area," which is characteristic of the Adirondack region, known for its stunning natural landscapes, including forests, lakes, and rivers. The campground itself boasts a "beach" that provides access for swimming in the "Moose River." This offers a unique opportunity for campers to enjoy water activities in a natural setting. The presence of a river beach suggests a family-friendly environment where both relaxation by the water and swimming can be enjoyed. The overall natural beauty of the Adirondacks contributes significantly to the appeal of this "camping near me" option for those seeking an immersive outdoor experience.
In terms of services and facilities, HTR Adirondacks Campground appears to prioritize cleanliness and helpfulness. Multiple reviews commend the "clean facilities," specifically mentioning that the "showers and bathroom were clean" and that the "campground was clean" overall. This is a crucial aspect for many campers and indicates a well-maintained environment. The "friendly staff" is also a recurring positive point in the feedback. One reviewer recounted an instance where a worker went out of their way to find a fireplace grate for them, highlighting the helpful and accommodating nature of the campground staff. This level of service can greatly enhance the camping experience, making guests feel welcome and supported.
HTR Adirondacks Campground offers a variety of features designed to cater to families with children. The presence of a "playground" provides a dedicated space for kids to play and burn off energy. Additionally, the campground has both a "basketball and tennis court," offering opportunities for older children and adults to engage in sports and recreational activities. These amenities make HTR Adirondacks a potentially ideal "camping near me" choice for families looking for on-site entertainment for their children.
However, one reviewer noted that the "sites seem too close together," which might be a consideration for campers who prioritize a greater sense of privacy and space between campsites. This is a common trade-off in campgrounds that aim to accommodate a larger number of visitors. Potential guests should be aware of this and might want to inquire about site layouts when making reservations if site size and spacing are important factors for their camping experience.
Another point to consider is the campground's proximity to NY-28, a main road. One reviewer mentioned, "...the place being close to RT 28, you hear most of the traffic going by, that's why its 4 instead of 5." While the reviewer still rated the campground highly (suggesting a 4.5 out of 5 stars if possible), the traffic noise is a factor that some campers might find disruptive, particularly during peak travel times. Local users who are sensitive to noise should take this into account when considering HTR Adirondacks Campground as their "camping near me" option.
One particularly unusual anecdote from a review mentions a camper waking up to find their shoelaces missing, with the bewildered question, "What animals eat shoelaces?" While this is an isolated incident and not necessarily indicative of a widespread issue, it serves as a reminder that when camping in natural environments, interactions with local wildlife can occur in unexpected ways. Campers are generally advised to secure their belongings, especially food and items that might attract animals.

In conclusion, HTR Adirondacks Campground in Old Forge, NY, presents a compelling option for local users seeking a family-friendly "camping near me" experience in a beautiful Adirondack setting. The campground is praised for its friendly staff, clean facilities (including showers and bathrooms), and a range of amenities such as a playground, basketball and tennis courts, and beach access to the Moose River for swimming. HTR Adirondacks Campground Reviews
Friendly staff, beautiful area, great prices. Playground, basketball and tennis court for the kids. There is a beach and you can swim in the Moose River. Showers and bathroom were clean. Campground was clean. Sites seem too close together and the place being close to RT 28, you hear most of the traffic going by, thats why its 4 instead of 5. But if I could, id say 4.5 stars out of 5
Oct 06, 2024 · Michael BrownVery clean facilites, management was very nice, well maintained campsite. We asked a worker for a fireplace grate and he went and found one for us, so helpful. Left my shoes outside, woke up to no shoelaces? What animals eat shoelaces?
Oct 14, 2024 · Matt ChurchWe stayed in a deluxe cabin that was right on the trail to the water, we were pretty disappointed that our cabin was the only one without view of the river though.Easy check in (especially with a dog and three kids, two of which are twins), the beach and playground looked very nice. Cabins was spotless and fit our needs! 5/5 would stay again!
Jul 31, 2024 · Lauren SillBest campground in Old Forge NY!!!!! I'm giving HTR Adirondacks 5 stars because the customer service was impeccable. Cindy and the rest of the staff were very friendly, informative, and happy to answer any and all questions we had about the campsite, campground and the events around Old Forge while we were there for this Memorial weekend. The store/office/gift shop has all the basic camping supplies, mementos and fresh coffee to purchase, and was very clean. The campground has remodeled bathhouses, cabins, and open, wooded and riverbank sites. We were lucky to get a riverbank site with spectacular views of Moose River. The site was clean, wooded with pines, and graded with stone for our camper. It was pretty quiet despite the fact that the campground was almost full. The Town of Old Forge is only 6 miles away with plenty of quaint shops and restaurants to choose from.Overall, we were very pleased with HTR Adirondacks and it's staff, and campground. They have very high standards and it shows. We will definitely be making another reservation soon!!!!
May 27, 2024 · D CookMy kids and I stay here a few times a year and we love it! Definitely recommend. This year I realized my tire was flat as we were leaving for check out. They were super nice and sent a very nice man to help inflate my tire so I could drive a few minutes down the road to Adk Garage. Thank you guys so much for being so great!! I look forward to seeing you all again a few times next year
