Bald Mountain Colony Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the scenic Old Forge area of New York? Bald Mountain Colony, located at 165 Tuttle Rd, Old Forge, NY 13420, presents itself as a potential option. This campground offers a location with "easy lake access" and "easy access off the highway," which could be appealing to local users looking for a convenient lakeside camping experience. Additionally, it is noted to have a "boat ramp," making it suitable for those who enjoy boating and water activities.
One reviewer described Bald Mountain Colony as a "great place to relax and reconnect," emphasizing its quiet atmosphere. This suggests that the environment may be conducive to a peaceful getaway, allowing visitors to unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings. The "easy lake access" further enhances this potential for relaxation and connection with nature, offering opportunities for swimming, fishing, or simply enjoying the lakeside views.
However, it is crucial for local users considering "camping near me" at Bald Mountain Colony to be aware of another, significantly contrasting review. This review paints a concerning picture of the campground's management and overall atmosphere. The reviewer expresses strong dissatisfaction, stating that the owners are on a "total power trip" and actively create confrontation. Specific examples provided include alleged restrictions on residents selling their own property and demands for the removal of trailers after owners invested in remodeling. These allegations, if accurate, could significantly impact the experience of individuals choosing to camp or lease at Bald Mountain Colony.
The negative review further mentions a pervasive sense of "drama" allegedly caused mainly by the owner's boyfriend, who is described as having a "severe drinking problem." This is a serious accusation that could indicate potential issues with the overall environment and the well-being of the community within the campground. The reviewer strongly advises "LEASERS BEWARE!!" suggesting that these issues may be particularly relevant for those considering a longer-term stay or lease agreement at Bald Mountain Colony.
Considering the platform category "camping near me," local users typically seek a safe, enjoyable, and hassle-free outdoor experience. The contrasting reviews of Bald Mountain Colony present a dilemma. On one hand, the campground offers appealing features such as easy lake access, a boat ramp, and a potentially quiet environment. These aspects align with the desires of many seeking a relaxing "camping near me" option in the Old Forge area.
On the other hand, the serious allegations of mismanagement, confrontational owners, and a disruptive atmosphere raise significant concerns. These issues could detract from the peaceful escape that campers typically seek. The power dynamics described in the negative review, if accurate, could lead to a stressful and unpleasant experience for those staying at Bald Mountain Colony.
It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and perspectives. However, the stark contrast between them suggests a potential inconsistency in the quality of experience at Bald Mountain Colony, or perhaps different experiences for short-term campers versus long-term residents or lessees. Local users considering this "camping near me" option should weigh these contrasting viewpoints carefully.
Given the available information, it is impossible to provide a definitive assessment of the overall environment and services at Bald Mountain Colony. The positive review highlights the natural amenities and potential for relaxation, while the negative review raises serious concerns about the management and community atmosphere. Prospective visitors may want to seek additional reviews or information from other sources to gain a more comprehensive understanding before making a decision.
For local users interested in the specific services and features beyond lake access and the boat ramp, such as the types of campsites available (e.g., tent sites, RV hookups), restroom facilities, shower availability, or any other amenities, this information is not provided in the given text. Similarly, there is no promotional information available. To obtain these details, interested individuals would need to contact Bald Mountain Colony directly at (315) 369-3454 or +1 315-369-3454.

Bald Mountain Colony Reviews
The owners are on a total power trip. They will take every and any opportunity to create confrontation. There are multiple examples of them actively working to make the lives of the people in the community harder, such as not allowing them to sell their own property, demanding that trailers get torn down after owners spend thousands in remodels. These are just a few examples, but there are too many to count. It's sad to see a place that was once a peaceful escape, being riddled with drama caused mainly by the owner's boyfriend who unfortunately has a severe drinking problem. LEASERS BEWARE!!
