Cross Creek RV Park Introduce
For local users searching for "RV Parks Near Me" in the Maggie Valley, North Carolina area, Cross Creek RV Park, located at 1354 State Rd 1307, presents itself as an adult-only and reportedly quiet option with beautiful views. However, potential guests should be aware of certain limitations and strict rules highlighted in customer reviews, particularly concerning the size of the RV lots and regulations regarding parking and the use of grass.
One positive aspect frequently mentioned is the park's location "right in the heart of Maggie Valley," which offers convenient access to the area's attractions and amenities. The "beautiful view" is also noted, suggesting a scenic environment that many visitors appreciate. The park is described as "extremely quiet," which could be a significant draw for adults seeking a peaceful and relaxing camping experience. The fact that it is an "adult only" park further reinforces this quiet atmosphere, catering to those without children.
Cross Creek RV Park offers some amenities that enhance the comfort and convenience of guests. "Washing available" indicates the presence of laundry facilities, which are essential for longer stays. The park is also "dog friendly" and features a "large dog area to play," making it a suitable choice for travelers with pets who value dedicated space for their dogs to exercise. Additionally, there is a "good pavilion for gathering," which could be useful for groups or for enjoying communal activities, although specific details about its features or usage are not provided.
A notable absence is a pool, as explicitly stated in one review ("No pool"). For travelers who prioritize having a swimming pool at their campground, this could be a significant drawback.
One of the primary concerns raised by reviewers is the size and layout of the RV lots. It is mentioned that "RV lots are pretty tight" with "not alot of privacy at all." This suggests that campers might be situated close to each other, potentially impacting their sense of personal space and seclusion. The narrowness of the gravel lots is further emphasized in another review, which describes them as "very narrow gravel lots for campers." This could make maneuvering larger RVs challenging, as indicated by one guest's experience requiring "5 pull ups and backups over grass that was wet from the rainstorm" to park.
The strict enforcement of rules regarding parking and the use of grass is another significant point of feedback. One reviewer recounted a negative experience involving being told exactly how to back into a gravel slot, the difficulty of doing so (especially on wet grass), and subsequent reprimands for even সামান্য encroachment onto the grass while maneuvering or placing a camping rug. The threat of being "kicked out" for driving or placing items on the grass, even momentarily or inadvertently, suggests a highly rigid and potentially unwelcoming approach to minor infractions. This level of strictness might not appeal to all campers, especially those seeking a more relaxed and forgiving environment.
Despite these limitations, the park does offer "very reasonable rates," which could be an attractive factor for budget-conscious travelers willing to accept tighter spaces and adhere to strict rules in exchange for affordability.
In summary, Cross Creek RV Park in Maggie Valley offers a quiet, adult-only environment with scenic views and a convenient location. It is pet-friendly with a dog area, provides laundry facilities, and has a gathering pavilion. The rates are considered reasonable. However, potential guests should be prepared for tight RV lots with limited privacy and a seemingly strict enforcement of rules regarding parking and the use of grass, as highlighted by negative experiences shared in reviews. The absence of a pool is another factor to consider.
For local users searching for "RV Parks Near Me," Cross Creek RV Park presents a trade-off between its peaceful, adult-oriented atmosphere and its spatial constraints and stringent regulations. Individuals who prioritize a quiet and affordable stay and are meticulous about adhering to campground rules might find it suitable. However, those seeking more spacious sites, greater privacy, or a more lenient approach to minor campsite management might want to explore other options.
Prospective guests are advised to contact Cross Creek RV Park directly at (828) 926-1183 or +1 828-926-1183 to inquire about the specific dimensions and layout of the RV lots, the detailed rules and regulations regarding parking and campsite usage, and any other concerns they may have. Understanding these aspects firsthand will be crucial in determining if Cross Creek RV Park is the right fit for their camping needs and preferences in the Maggie Valley area. Given the contrasting feedback regarding the park's atmosphere (quiet vs. strict/unwelcoming), it would be beneficial to have a clear understanding of the current management's approach and the overall guest experience to avoid potential dissatisfaction.

Aug 10, 2023 · Terri Alves PagliucaThis campground is in nice location and is very shady! However there are very narrow gravel lots for campers, the staff will meet you to tell you exactly how to back into gravel slot. Took us 5 pull ups and backups over grass that was wet from the rainstorm. However had I been allowed to park our camper I could have got it in on first attempt by pulling into gravel space directly in front of our slot. Then we were told to not park on grass, especially when wet!Considering that there is only space for one vehicle parked crossways in front of your camper. When 2 campers are in place with their vehicles parked correctly then this only leaves space for one vehicle to pass through the road for those camping spaces. I can understand if it is raining and the guy that helped us park said it was very important to stay off the grass especially when it rains. But then I had to turn around to pick up another friend who was sick in their camper , 2 campers down, I had to go to Cross road at end of street to turn around, I clipped the corner strip of grass perhaps 2 feet while I turned around. By the time I got back to the camper, there was Karen-unfriendly/angry camp guard who had ran down to inform me that I had drove over the grass and that the owner would kick us out for driving on the grass. Then this morning the grass control staff came down and moved our camping rug over onto gravel and off the grass. The man came over to our friends camper to state 'y'all know why I am here- you can't have your camping rug on the grass because you are killing it'. Nevermind that he was carrying a weed eater as the were murdering (mowing) the grass! Unbelievable!!Never again will we be camping here!!
Jul 06, 2023 · Michael ShelleyStayed at the park 3 years in a row. Never had a problem. RV needed maintenance and we changed out the antifreeze while there careful to catch all the waste and dispose of properly. The owner flipped out and told us to leave by the next morning .The park rules did not state that you could not work on your RV. The park host stopped by prior and said that the owner was notorious for making people leave for no reason. He told us that he hoped we would not have any problems but to be prepared. The owner threatened to call EPA. We contacted EPA and asked them to check the site we were on because we knew we didn’t do anything wrong. I am a retired nurse and my husband a retired general contractor. We always abide by the rules. I feel sorry for the people who visit this park and hope they find better alternatives. We love the area and his foolish behavior will not deter us from visiting the great smoky mountains. We will just be cautious in planning where to stay.
Aug 29, 2024 · Sharon MedfordReally nice place. This was our first destination in our new class C. Took us 3 hours roughly from Charlotte. Great site, quiet, friendly people. Also nice views of the mountains in the valley. Will most certainly return.
Jun 09, 2021 · Bill SchoonmakerAbsolutely loved our stay here. We were first time camper owners and the hosts stuck around and showed us how to hook up our camper and we’re very accommodating. This place is so peaceful and dog friendly and the people there are so nice and helpful and even helped us when we were packing up!! Most people there said they had been coming for 5-7 years!! We will definitely be coming back!! Such a great stay!
