Homestead RV Park for Seniors Introduce
If you are searching for "RV Parks Near Me" specifically catering to seniors in the Maggie Valley, North Carolina area, Homestead RV Park for Seniors, located at 57 Dora Dr, Maggie Valley, NC 28751, USA, is one option to consider. This park is designed as a retirement community, aiming to provide a long-term living environment for senior residents.
Based on available online reviews, the experience at Homestead RV Park for Seniors appears to be varied. One resident who moved in around March 2024 highlighted positive aspects such as "great neighbors." This review also mentioned that the park provides free TV service, noting that Spectrum offers a new HDMI connection for residents to attach to their televisions, and that the provided TV worked well with many channels. For internet access, this resident contacted Spectrum and had Wi-Fi installed at their own expense, indicating that internet service is not included in the park fees and is a separate arrangement with a provider like Spectrum.
Regarding electricity, the same review noted that policies on included electricity vary among RV parks. However, more recent reviews paint a less favorable picture of the park's management and utility charges. One reviewer strongly advises others to "pass on this park," stating concerns about the owner's mental capacity to manage the park and alleging unsafe driving behavior. This is a serious accusation that potential residents should consider.
Another resident who lived at the park for three months expressed significant dissatisfaction. They reported issues with internet connectivity, stating they could not get internet service. The "free" cable television was described as unreliable, working only intermittently. Furthermore, this reviewer raised concerns about the electricity billing system, claiming that residents pay the owner directly for electricity at a rate almost triple what the power company charges the park. This significant added cost, especially for those on a fixed retirement income, reportedly forced this resident and others to seek alternative living arrangements. The reviewer explicitly stated, "NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!!"
Given these contrasting and concerning recent reviews, it is crucial for any potential residents to conduct thorough due diligence before making a decision about Homestead RV Park for Seniors. While the sense of community and the provision of free television were mentioned as initial positives by one resident, the serious allegations regarding the owner's management, unreliable utilities, and inflated electricity costs raised by other recent reviewers cannot be ignored.
The fact that residents are reportedly charged directly by the owner for electricity, rather than paying the power company based on their individual usage, is an unusual arrangement that has led to accusations of overcharging. This could significantly impact the monthly expenses for residents, particularly those on a fixed income, as highlighted in one of the negative reviews.
The inconsistency in the quality of basic utilities like internet and cable television is also a significant drawback. In today's world, reliable internet access is often essential for communication, entertainment, and managing personal affairs. The claim that the "free" cable works only some of the time further diminishes the value of this included service.
For seniors looking for a retirement RV park, factors such as stable utility costs, reliable services, and a well-managed environment are typically high priorities. The recent negative feedback regarding Homestead RV Park for Seniors suggests potential issues in these critical areas that prospective residents must carefully investigate.
If you are considering Homestead RV Park for Seniors, it is strongly recommended that you contact the park directly at (828) 542-1777 or +1 828-542-1777 to inquire about the current situation, utility billing practices, internet and cable service reliability, and any management changes. It would also be prudent to speak with current residents, if possible, to get a more comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the living conditions and overall satisfaction levels at the park. Visiting the park in person to assess the environment and facilities would also be a valuable step in the decision-making process.
In conclusion, while Homestead RV Park for Seniors is located in the scenic Maggie Valley and aims to serve the senior RV community, recent reviews raise significant concerns about its management, utility costs, and service reliability. Potential residents should carefully weigh these factors and conduct thorough personal investigation before committing to this park as their long-term living destination.

Homestead RV Park for Seniors Reviews
Moved in March 15 2024. Great neighbors. For TV, Spectrum has a NEW hdmi connection to attach to any TV. TV is supplied by the Park, free, and ours works well. Many channels. For Internet, we contacted Spectrum, and had WiFi installed for Internet. That installation is not free, You pay Spectrum for Internet. As far as electric, some parks include some do not.See my latest review. You should pass on this park. Owner is not mentally capable to run the park and is a dangerous driver. Just an fyi.
Aug 30, 2024 · specialized dataI've lived here for 3 months. I can't get Internet. The "free" cable is a bad joke, only works some of the time. You pay the owner for electricity, not the power company. This man is charging us almost TRIPLE what he pays for it. This is supposed to be a retirement community, but living on a fixed income, the prices of lot rent with the additional added cost of outrageous electric charges has forced me, along with several others to look elsewhere for a place to move my camper. NOT RECOMENDED!!!!!!! I gave it one star only because that's the only way I could leave a review.
