West Shores Marina & RV Park Introduce
For local adventurers seeking "RV parks near me" that offer a unique blend of desert tranquility and lakeside access, West Shores Marina & RV Park in Thermal, California, presents an intriguing option. Situated near the Salton Sea, this RV park provides a quiet and welcoming atmosphere with essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Whether you're a seasoned RVer or exploring the region for the first time, West Shores Marina & RV Park offers a distinctive camping experience in the heart of Southern California.
The environment surrounding West Shores Marina & RV Park is characterized by the unique landscape of the Salton Sea area. While one review humorously noted the inability to get "near to see the sea," this likely refers to the fluctuating water levels and shoreline conditions often associated with the Salton Sea. However, the park's proximity to this significant geographical feature suggests opportunities for birdwatching and exploring the distinctive ecosystem of the area. The desert climate typically offers sunny days and clear nights, ideal for stargazing and enjoying the outdoors.
Based on the available reviews, West Shores Marina & RV Park offers practical services and amenities to cater to the needs of RV travelers. One visitor who stayed during a busy paramotor fly-in highlighted the availability of full hookups for RVs, priced at $50 per night. This indicates that the park provides essential connections for water, electricity (specifically mentioning 30 amp plugins), and sewer, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay for RVers who prefer the full suite of utilities.
For those traveling with tents, the park also offers tent spots at a rate of $25 per night, as mentioned in the review. This makes West Shores Marina & RV Park a versatile option for different types of campers, accommodating both RVs and traditional tent setups. The availability of tent sites broadens the appeal of the park to a wider range of outdoor enthusiasts.
Convenience is further enhanced by the presence of a coin laundromat on-site. This amenity is particularly valuable for longer stays, allowing guests to easily take care of their laundry needs without having to leave the park. The availability of propane is another significant feature, catering to RVers who rely on propane for cooking, heating, or powering appliances. Having propane readily available within the park adds to the self-sufficiency and convenience for guests.
One of the recurring themes in the limited reviews is the quiet atmosphere of West Shores Marina & RV Park. A visitor described it as a "quiet park," which can be a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful and relaxing camping experience away from the noise and bustle of more crowded locations. This tranquility, combined with the friendly nature of the "locals" encountered at the park, suggests a welcoming and community-oriented environment.
While the reviews don't explicitly detail recreational facilities or specific activities offered by the marina aspect of the park, the name "West Shores Marina & RV Park" implies potential access to the Salton Sea for boating or other water-related activities. However, given the fluctuating conditions of the Salton Sea, it's advisable to inquire directly with the park management about current marina operations and accessibility.
Considering the information available, West Shores Marina & RV Park appears to be a no-frills, yet functional and peaceful, option for those seeking "RV parks near me" in the Thermal area. Its key features include full RV hookups, tent sites, a coin laundromat, and propane availability, all within a quiet and friendly setting near the unique environment of the Salton Sea. While the immediate access to the sea for recreational purposes might be variable, the park serves as a convenient base for exploring the region and enjoying a more laid-back camping experience.

West Shores Marina & RV Park Reviews
Stayed here during a busy Paramotor fly in early February. Full hookups were $50/night and tent spots were $25/night. They have a coin laundromat onsite, 30a plugins, and propane. It was a quiet park with friendly locals.

May 11, 2025 · Tabatha RamiloFunny place, sunny most of time, long beach where a lot of people take off and land in paramotor.Camping full hook up not really expensive.Restaurant with a variety of things to eatThe canyons where you can go with atv or utv a d the truck haven park are 10 minutes to go from here.
Apr 14, 2019 · Denis RWe just drove to the beach but lots of people were driving dune buggies and parasailing. I collected some fish bone sand. This was my first trip to Salton Sea. Even in January@ 55f the smell is pretty bad. No boats anywhere.
Jan 21, 2020 · P V PEYTONReasonable rates, wonderful Park Host, pet-friendly, great location for off-roaders & paramotorists, beautiful scenerySpent three months here (December 2016 through February 2017) in a 34 ft motor coach. The monthly rate is very reasonable and hard to beat. The Park's Host is a wonderful fellow - very friendly and always on the ball. Several improvements were made during our stay including the installation of street lights through out the park. Restrooms are cleaned regularly and kept stocked. On site laundry is fairly cheap and includes an outdoor clothesline for those who prefer air dry over mechanical dry. Sites are medium sized (see included photo) and can easily accommodate the largest rigs with room for outdoor seating (most, if not all, have a picnic table). Park is pet-friendly with plenty of area to walk Fido. The location is great if you are into off-roading or paramotoring as off-road trails are easily accessible and the park has an airstrip for the paramotorists. During the week, it is usually very quiet and peaceful. Lastly, the scenery around the park is beautiful with the Chocolate Mountains on one side and the Santa Ana Mountains on the other side. We loved it here and will definitely stay here again next time we are in Southern California.Note: wifi, digital TV signal, and cellular phone reception can be spotty at times - this area might have a shifting dead zone as reception was an ongoing issue during the entire length of our stay.
