Based on recent customer feedback, Old Forge Camping Resort provides a multifaceted experience, with direct access to an on-site water park being a significant draw. One reviewer noted that their trip was "good" and specifically mentioned visiting the water park. However, they also pointed out that the water park was "PACKED during the weekend," suggesting that local users planning to visit the water park might prefer weekday trips if possible to avoid potential crowds. This insight is valuable for those looking to maximize their enjoyment of the water park facilities. The reviewer also mentioned that the staff is "friendly" and noted that many have a "hint of french in their voices," possibly indicating a diverse and welcoming team.
The same reviewer raised a couple of minor downsides experienced during their trip. One was related to noise, specifically being woken up by a baby crying for an extended period. While this is not directly within the control of the resort, it's a factor that some campers might be sensitive to. The other issue concerned the rental "carts" available at the resort. The reviewer observed that these carts tend to be taken before people actually schedule their day, suggesting that early booking or arrival might be necessary to secure a cart if needed for transporting belongings around the resort.
Another reviewer focused on the cabin accommodations, stating that "everything about the cabin was nice and comfortable." This positive feedback indicates that the cabins at Old Forge Camping Resort offer a pleasant lodging option for those who prefer a more structured shelter than traditional tent camping. The reviewer expressed a definite intention to "visit again," highlighting the overall positive impression of the cabin experience. A minor drawback mentioned was the comfort of the "mattress pads" on the beds, which were described as "not very comfortable" and not conducive to a "good sleep." This is a specific point that potential cabin renters might want to consider or inquire about.
On a more positive note, the second reviewer was highly impressed with the cleanliness of the facilities, stating that "the bathrooms are remarkably clean." This is a significant factor for many campers and suggests a high standard of hygiene is maintained throughout the resort. Additionally, they described the "grounds" as "beautiful," indicating that the overall environment of Old Forge Camping Resort is aesthetically pleasing and well-maintained, contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Old Forge itself is located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, a region renowned for its stunning natural beauty, including vast forests, numerous lakes, and opportunities for outdoor recreation. Staying at Old Forge Camping Resort would likely provide easy access to this environment, offering local users a chance to explore hiking trails, enjoy water activities on nearby lakes (beyond the resort's water park), and immerse themselves in the natural splendor of the Adirondacks. The resort's location on NY-28 suggests convenient access to the town of Old Forge and other attractions in the area.
Given the combination of cabin rentals and access to a water park, Old Forge Camping Resort seems to cater to a broad range of visitors, from families looking for fun and entertainment to those seeking a comfortable base for exploring the Adirondacks. The availability of both camping sites (implied by the name "Camping Resort") and cabins provides options for different preferences and budgets. Local users might want to inquire about the specific types of campsites available (e.g., tent, RV hookups), the amenities offered at the campsites (e.g., fire pits, picnic tables), and the variety of cabin options (e.g., size, features).
While the reviews mention friendly staff and clean bathrooms, they do not provide comprehensive details about all the services and features of the resort. Potential amenities could include laundry facilities, a camp store, recreational areas (beyond the water park), Wi-Fi access, and organized activities. Local users should contact the resort directly to inquire about the full range of services available.
Similarly, no specific promotional information is included in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts, seasonal rates, or package deals that might include water park access with accommodation should reach out to Old Forge Camping Resort via their toll-free or local phone number or check their official website for any current promotions.
In conclusion, Old Forge Camping Resort in the Adirondacks, NY, offers a multifaceted "camping near me" experience with comfortable cabin rentals, remarkably clean bathrooms, beautiful grounds, and the added attraction of an on-site water park. Contact them directly for detailed information on accommodations, amenities, water park details, and any available promotions to plan your Adirondack getaway.

Old Forge Camping Resort Reviews
Was a good trip, went to the water park & it was PACKED during the weekend. I would recommend going on a weekend only if you can't do a week day trip for that, staff is friendly & most are from Canada / hint of french in their voices. Only downside for this trip was someone brought there baby camping & got woken up by their child screaming for 3 hours, also all the "carts" they rent get taken before people actually schedule their day & would receive getting it before hand.
Jan 21, 2025 · Tyler RogersEverything about the cabin was nice and comfortable. I would definitely visit again. The only down side is the mattress pads they have on the beds. They aren't very comfortable and don't really allow for a good sleep. Otherwise the bathrooms are remarkably clean and the grounds are beautiful.
Aug 13, 2024 · aaron velardiCottages aren't worth the money *at all*. When we got there, the premium spot we reserved next to our friends in February apparently was taken so we ended up in the total opposite end of the park- sucks, but not the end of the world. It was a busy weekend. We got to the cottage, stepped on the porch and there was a pair of dirty clear gloves, I assume from the housekeeper, and a cigarette on the railing to greet us- whatever, I threw it away. When we walked in their was candy wrappers in the beds and the mattresses (which are glorified high school wrestling mats and they should really write that somewhere so you know to take a topper if you've never been there) were soaking wet. The place was also loaded with spider webs and dust. Was it worth switching the cottage and making a huge fuss? No, I cleaned it up. Was it worth $522 a weekend? Also no.As far as guest services, every single worker in the main lodge was wildly rude to speak to, like you were inconveniencing THEM and by reading other reviews that seems like it's their norm.Old forge though? Beautiful. Will be back, just at a different location,
Jul 07, 2024 · Nichole GrayI had the best time going there ever I believe that the cabins are a little small and that they need to turn off their pilot light during the summer. But all in all 10 out of 10 also the rooms could be cleaned a little bit better I watched the housekeeping going and clean out one of the cabins and they didn't do a very good job. The mop look pretty dirty.
Aug 17, 2024 · Loveis KindThankful to get a cottage instead of a cabin. The cottages have a bathroom, mini fridge with freezer, 2 small stove top burners, a microwave, sink, and table and 4 chairs...the cabins do not. (Cottage 23) Everything outside such as the picnic table, other tables, chairs, and charcoal grill were all going down a hill made it interesting to cook and be able to sit around the campfire. You will definitely want to bring padding to put on the mattresses.Very rough and rocky terrain I suggest bikes instead of electric scooters. Also bring peanuts! We were able to feed chipmunks peanuts out of our hands! You're able to rent paddle boats by the hour (we rented 2, I think it was $38). You're also able to rent go carts for your stay.Colyspo's Cove and Water Safari is 5 minutes down the road or the camp resort also has a shuttle.A must stop for the best donuts and breakfast sandwiches is a place up the rd less than 10 miles away is called The Donut Shop of Eagle Bay!Overall a great trip and experience for all of the family to enjoy.
