Lake Kissimmee Campground Introduce
For local users in the Lake Wales, Florida area searching for "camping near me," the Lake Kissimmee Campground, located in Lake Wales, FL 33898, USA, offers a diverse camping experience with options ranging from traditional tent camping to glamping. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground presents a mix of natural beauty and some considerations regarding noise and fellow campers.
The environment of Lake Kissimmee Campground appears to be a significant draw for many visitors. One reviewer described it as an "amazing tent camping experience," noting that most of the campsites are very spacious and offer plenty of shade. The park is also rich in wildlife, with sightings of deer, armadillos, and woodpeckers reported, making it appealing for nature lovers. For those who enjoy biking, the park offers trails, with specific advice to avoid trail #4 “Gobbler Ridge” due to sugar sand, while trail #1 “Kristin Jacobs” was highly recommended, offering flexibility to do parts of the loop as it crosses the main road multiple times. The overall natural setting seems to provide a good opportunity for local users to connect with Florida's wildlife and enjoy spacious, shaded campsites.
In terms of services and features, Lake Kissimmee Campground offers both traditional tent camping areas and glamping tents. One reviewer who rented a glamping tent found it to be "nice, clean and had great amenities." Additionally, the bathroom facilities were also noted as "clean and nice," and for tent campers, the campground restrooms were described as "extremely well kept and regularly cleaned." These positive comments suggest that the basic amenities are well-maintained. However, specific details about other services such as hookups for RVs (if available), fire pits, picnic tables, or laundry facilities are not explicitly mentioned in these reviews.
Despite the positive aspects, one reviewer highlighted a significant drawback regarding the noise level, stating that it's "not the place to go if you want peace and quiet camping." They mentioned a constant drone of airboats and motorboats throughout the day and into the early morning. Furthermore, this reviewer, who stayed in a glamping tent, unfortunately was located next to a group they described as a "frat house" who partied all day and night with no intervention. This experience suggests that the atmosphere can sometimes be less than peaceful, depending on the location within the campground and the behavior of other guests. This is an important consideration for local users seeking a tranquil camping experience.
The contrast between the two reviews highlights the varied experiences one might have at Lake Kissimmee Campground. While one camper enjoyed the spacious, shaded tent sites and the abundance of wildlife, another found the noise from boats and disruptive fellow campers to detract from their stay, despite the quality of the glamping tent and bathroom facilities. This suggests that the overall experience might depend on the type of camping (tent vs. glamping) and the proximity to other campers or water activities.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who appreciate spacious tent sites, wildlife, and potentially the novelty of glamping, Lake Kissimmee Campground could be an option. The clean restrooms and, for the glamping tent user, the nice and clean tent with great amenities are positives. However, those prioritizing peace and quiet should be aware of the potential for noise from boats and other campers. The availability of biking trails is a bonus for those who enjoy cycling.
To get a more comprehensive understanding of Lake Kissimmee Campground, local users might want to seek additional reviews or information regarding the campground's layout, rules regarding noise and disruptive behavior, and the specific amenities offered for both tent and RV campers (if applicable). Inquiring about the proximity of campsites to the lake and potential boat traffic might also be helpful for those concerned about noise. Similarly, for those interested in glamping, more details about the specific amenities included in the tents would be beneficial.
In conclusion, Lake Kissimmee Campground near Lake Wales, FL, offers a camping experience with spacious, shaded tent sites, wildlife viewing opportunities, and the option of glamping. The facilities, such as restrooms and glamping tents, are generally well-regarded. However, potential noise from airboats and motorboats, as well as the behavior of other campers, can impact the experience. Local users looking for "camping near me" should weigh these factors based on their preferences for a camping getaway.

Lake Kissimmee Campground Reviews
Not the place to go if you want peace and quiet camping. The drone of air boats and motor boats was pretty constant thru out the day and first thing in the morning. Rented one of the glamping tents and sadly was next to a frat house all weekend. Guys partied all day/night and nothing was done. The tent was nice, clean and had great amenities. The bathrooms were also clean and nice. But just too many loud annoying people.
Dec 15, 2024 · Jennifer FreemanI found this park to be an amazing tent camping experience. Most of the campsites are very spacious, with plenty of shade, and the park is full of wildlife, we were visited by deers, armadillos and woodpeckers. If you bring mountain bikes, avoid trail #4 “Gobbler Ridge” as it’s full of sugar sand. We enjoyed trail #1 “Kristin Jacobs” quite a lot and you don’t have to do the full loop, as it crosses the main road several times, you can return back to camp at any crossing. Campgrounds restrooms, were extremely well kept and regularly cleaned.

You can rent canoes and kayaks. The staff was great and very knowledgeable. There are plenty of hiking trails. You can see all kinds of wildlife
Oct 27, 2023 · Wild MarksAmazing place for “wild” camping,. camp grounds have enough space between them. Water, electricity. 60 spaces in total. Through October - May there’s a cow camp, never been there but excited about to see that show. A lot of wild animals
Aug 18, 2024 · Georgii LiapkoLake Kissimmee is on the top of our list for being one of the most scenic and quite Florida state parks campground. The camp ground is laid out nicely so the sites have a lot of privacy with easy access to the shower/bathrooms. It’s off the beaten track so it’s nice and quite. The park has excellent fishing/kayaking/boating access. The park has some pretty nice hiking trails with plenty of wildlife viewing. My favorite feature is all the oak tree hammocks providing scenic shade.
