Maple Set Campground Introduce
For local users in the Sanderson, Florida area seeking a pleasant "camping near me" experience, Maple Set Campground, located at 11656 FL-2, Sanderson, FL 32087, USA, offers a welcoming environment characterized by nicely shaded and spacious campsites and access to natural beauty. While not directly waterfront, the campground provides a short walk to water access and boasts gorgeous, meticulously maintained trails for hiking. Based on the available customer reviews, Maple Set Campground presents itself as a well-kept natural retreat, albeit with some considerations regarding insects and potential trail conditions.
The environment at Maple Set Campground is a significant positive aspect highlighted by visitors. The campsites are described as "nicely shaded," suggesting a comfortable camping experience even during the warmer Florida months, thanks to the canopy provided by the trees, likely including the maples that give the campground its name. The campsites are also noted to be "spacious," offering ample room for setting up tents or parking smaller camping vehicles and allowing for a more comfortable and less cramped outdoor living space. While the buffer between campsites is mentioned as "relatively small," the overall impression of the environment is one of natural beauty and comfort. The proximity to water is another key environmental feature; although the campsites are not directly on the waterfront, water access is just a "quick walk" away. This suggests that campers can easily enjoy the benefits of being near a river or lake without necessarily having a waterfront campsite. The trails are described as "gorgeous," indicating scenic routes for walking and exploring the natural surroundings. Furthermore, the area is praised for being "meticulously maintained," suggesting a clean and well-cared-for environment that enhances the overall camping experience.
The services and features at Maple Set Campground appear to focus on providing a comfortable and nature-oriented stay. The availability of "nicely shaded and spacious" campsites is a primary service, catering to both tent campers and those with smaller RVs or campervans. The "quick walk to water access" is another significant feature, allowing campers to engage in water-related activities, although the specific nature of these activities (swimming, fishing, etc.) is not detailed. The presence of "gorgeous" and "meticulously maintained" trails indicates a commitment to providing recreational opportunities for hiking and exploring the area. The positive mention of "no camping trash at all" suggests that the campground management places a high emphasis on cleanliness and environmental stewardship, contributing to a more pleasant experience for all visitors. While not explicitly stated, it can be inferred that basic camping amenities such as designated parking areas for campsites and possibly picnic tables or fire rings might be available. The lack of mention of specific RV hookups (electricity, water, sewer) might imply that the focus is more on primitive or semi-primitive camping, although this would need further confirmation.
The features of Maple Set Campground that stand out are its natural beauty, the quality of its trails, and the spaciousness and shade of its campsites. The easy access to water, even if not directly from the campsite, is a notable advantage for those who enjoy being near a river or lake. The meticulous maintenance of the area suggests a well-managed campground where attention is paid to the upkeep and cleanliness of the facilities and grounds. However, there are a couple of caveats mentioned in the reviews. Firstly, "Insect repellent is a must," indicating that insects, likely mosquitoes or other biting insects common in Florida's natural environments, can be prevalent. Campers should come prepared with appropriate protection. Secondly, one reviewer noted that there is "still some flooding in areas, so it makes it difficult to hike past the bridge." This suggests that trail conditions can be affected by water levels, and certain parts of the trails might be inaccessible at times. Additionally, the same reviewer mentioned that it is "near impossible to kayak anymore due to all of the fallen trees downstream." This is important information for those who might have been considering kayaking as an activity during their stay. While the campground offers water access, the condition of the waterway might currently limit certain water-based recreational activities.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, the positive aspects highlighted by visitors – the shaded and spacious campsites, the beautiful and well-maintained trails, and the easy access to water – serve as inherent promotions for the campground. For local users searching for "camping near me" that offers a blend of natural beauty and comfortable camping, Maple Set Campground appears to be a strong contender. The emphasis on maintenance and cleanliness further enhances its appeal. Potential promotions might include seasonal discounts, especially during the off-peak camping season, or special offers for longer stays. It would be advisable for interested individuals to contact Maple Set Campground directly at (904) 259-4688 or +1 904-259-4688 to inquire about any current promotions, reservation procedures, and specific details about amenities and trail conditions.
In summary, Maple Set Campground in Sanderson, FL, offers a local camping experience characterized by nicely shaded and spacious campsites, easy access to water, and gorgeous, meticulously maintained hiking trails. While the buffer between campsites is relatively small and insect repellent is necessary, the overall environment is praised for its natural beauty and cleanliness. Potential visitors should be aware of the possibility of flooding affecting some trails and the current challenges for kayaking due to fallen trees. For local users searching for "camping near me" that provides a comfortable and well-kept base for exploring the outdoors, Maple Set Campground is a destination worth considering, with the recommendation to contact the owners for the most up-to-date information on trail and water conditions, as well as any available promotions.

Maple Set Campground Reviews
We enjoyed our time here. The campsites are nicely shaded and spacious. The buffer between campsites is relatively small. Insect repellent is a must. The campsites are not waterfront, but are a quick walk to water access. Water access could easily be added by way of a small foot trail from each site as the river is directly behind the line of campsites. The trails were gorgeous and the area was meticulously maintained. No camping trash at all.
Mar 19, 2019 · Rebecca CruzNice 2 mile hike along the river. There is still some flooding in areas, so it makes it difficult to hike past the bridge. Also, near impossible to kayak anymore due to all of the fallen trees downstream.
Jan 28, 2022 · Jeremy MulanixQuiet tucked-away site along the Florida-Georgia line. 4 spacious campsites just a brief walk from the parking lot. Only amenities are a fire pit, picnic table, and trash bins. Remember to leave no trace!
Jan 15, 2019 · Micah AnderleVery primitive campground. Quiet and small. Very much out there which I liked. Right next to a nice little river.
Jan 24, 2021 · John RaymerBeautiful, quiet campsites. Reservations required (reserve America website). Remember to check reservation confirmation email for gate code for access to drive your car to your site. Otherwise, park at trailhead of Maple Set Trail (limited parking, only 3-4 spaces at trailhead). No restrooms or potable water, but each site does have a metal grated fire pit. Dogs allowed (must be on leash). 4 or 5 campsites total. Be respectful of your neighbor and quiet hours.
