Middle Meadows Group Campground Introduce
Middle Meadows Group Campground, located at Hell Hole Rd, Georgetown, CA 95634, USA, is a unique destination for outdoor enthusiasts specifically seeking a group camping experience. Positioned within the "Camping Near Me" category, this campground caters to those who desire a more secluded and rustic adventure, perfect for larger gatherings of friends, family, or organizations. It stands out from typical individual campsites by offering facilities and space designed to accommodate groups, providing a dedicated area for collective outdoor enjoyment.
For inquiries and reservations, Middle Meadows Group Campground can be reached at (530) 333-4312 or via mobile at +1 530-333-4312. Given its remote location, however, it is highly advisable to make all necessary arrangements and gather information well in advance, as cell reception in the area is noted as "very spotty." This highlights the need for careful planning and reliance on traditional communication methods before arriving at the site.
The environment of Middle Meadows Group Campground is characterized by its quiet and secluded nature, making it an ideal escape from urban noise and crowds. Nestled near a creek, it offers the soothing sounds of flowing water, contributing to a peaceful camping atmosphere. A significant environmental feature is its close proximity to the Reservoir, likely referring to the Hell Hole Reservoir, which is noted as being "good for boat" activities. This suggests opportunities for various water-based recreation, such as boating, fishing, and perhaps kayaking or paddleboarding, for those who bring their own equipment. The presence of a local swimming hole, as pointed out by friendly park rangers, further enhances the recreational appeal, offering a natural spot for cooling off during warmer months. The surrounding landscape would typically be forested, providing shade and a natural habitat for local wildlife, contributing to an immersive outdoor experience. The remote setting implies an opportunity for stargazing and a deep connection with nature, away from light pollution.
As a group campground, Middle Meadows offers services tailored to accommodate larger parties, though the available information suggests a more rustic rather than highly developed service offering. Based on the reviews, some key services and considerations include:
- Campsites: Dedicated group campsites designed to comfortably host multiple tents or RVs (though the focus seems to be more on tent camping due to the "secluded" and potentially rugged access). These sites would typically include fire rings and picnic tables.
- Water Access: One review mentions that "last year had water turned off for repairs," implying that potable water is generally available at the campground, although its availability can be subject to maintenance or seasonal conditions. Campers should always confirm water status before arrival, and be prepared to bring their own water as a backup.
- Restroom Facilities: While not explicitly mentioned, most established campgrounds, even rustic ones, provide some form of restroom facility, typically vault toilets in more remote settings.
- Park Ranger Assistance: The mention of "very friendly park rangers" indicates a level of on-site management or oversight, which is a valuable service for assistance, information, and maintaining order. Their willingness to point out local attractions like the swimming hole further enhances the visitor experience.
- Proximity to Recreational Opportunities: The campground's location near a creek and reservoir provides access to natural resources for recreation, essentially a service of convenience for campers.
It's important for users searching "Camping Near Me" to understand that a "group campground" means services are designed for collective use, and individual privacy on a site might be less than at a dispersed individual campground.
Middle Meadows Group Campground's features are geared towards providing a functional and enjoyable outdoor experience for groups:
- Seclusion: A primary feature is its "secluded" nature. This offers groups a private space where they can gather without disturbing or being disturbed by other campers, ideal for fostering a sense of community and undisturbed enjoyment of nature.
- Quiet Environment: The emphasis on being "quiet" contributes to the serene atmosphere, allowing groups to relax, converse, and enjoy the natural sounds without excessive noise from other sources.
- Creek Proximity: The "campsite near the creek" offers aesthetic beauty, the calming sound of running water, and potential opportunities for creek-side exploration or relaxation.
- Reservoir Access: Being "close to the Reservoir that good for boat" is a significant feature for groups interested in boating, fishing, or other water sports. This provides a distinct recreational draw.
- Swimming Hole: The presence of a "local swimming hole" is a desirable feature, especially during warmer weather, offering a refreshing and natural way to cool down.
- Friendly Park Rangers: The positive mention of "very friendly park rangers" suggests a helpful and welcoming presence, which can greatly enhance the camping experience, particularly for groups who might have questions or need assistance.
- Challenging Access/Limited Connectivity (Dual Feature): While potentially a challenge, the note that it's "easy to get lost on your way to the site" and that "cell reception is very spotty" can also be seen as a feature for groups seeking a true off-the-grid experience. It forces preparation and encourages a disconnect from digital distractions, fostering deeper engagement with the natural surroundings and fellow campers. This also necessitates bringing a "printed map."
For Middle Meadows Group Campground, promotional efforts targeting the "Camping Near Me" audience would focus on its unique selling propositions for group outings. Key promotional messages would include:
- "Your Secluded Group Getaway in Georgetown, CA": Highlighting its primary appeal for larger parties seeking privacy and a dedicated space for their gathering.
- "Rustic Charm by the Creek and Reservoir": Emphasizing its natural beauty and proximity to water, promoting boating, fishing, and swimming opportunities.
- "Unplug and Reconnect": Leveraging the limited cell service as a benefit for those looking to truly disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature and their group. This can be framed as an essential feature for a genuine outdoor experience.
- "Friendly Ranger Assistance": Assuring potential campers of a supportive on-site presence, ready to offer guidance and local insights.
- "Perfect for Family Reunions, Scout Troops, or Friends' Retreats": Clearly articulating the types of groups that would most benefit from the campground's setup.
- "Be Prepared for an Adventure": Managing expectations regarding access (emphasizing printed maps) and connectivity, appealing to those who embrace a more rugged camping experience.
Promotional materials would also advise prospective campers to call ahead for current conditions, especially regarding water availability, and to be thoroughly prepared for a remote setting. Visuals, if available, would showcase the natural beauty of the creek, reservoir, and forested surroundings. The focus would be on attracting groups who value a quiet, natural, and somewhat challenging outdoor experience, rather than those seeking highly developed amenities or constant connectivity. It's a place for groups to make their own adventure, with the natural environment and seclusion being the primary draw.

Middle Meadows Group Campground Reviews
Nice campsite rear the creek and close to the Reservoir that good for boat
Aug 11, 2022 · ChanthyQuiet and secluded. Last year had water turned off for repairs, but it was still an excellent campground. There is a local swimming hole the very friendly park rangers pointed out. It is easy to get lost on your way to the site, so be prepared with a printed map, as cell reception is very spotty.
Mar 22, 2016 · Damon JacobsenTerrible campground. Mosquitos, bears, snakes, too many logging roads to get lost one (happened to one of our friends and some local hunters towed him out), water turned off/unsafe to drink. Bear pies in the camp area. Also, desolate and far and easy to get lost on the way. Do NOT choose this campsite.
Jun 15, 2015 · Ron LopezThe toilets were locked and unusable (and we had to use port o potties), the water system is broken, the forest surrounding the campground is still burnt from the forest fires, and there were a lot of mosquitos.
Aug 09, 2019 · Leslie CarrYes there are flies and mosquitoes... it's the forest. Beautiful spot, remote, loved it
