Mississinewa Lake Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Peru, Indiana area, Mississinewa Lake Campground, located at 4627 S 625 E, Peru, IN 46970, USA, offers a lakeside camping experience with a range of amenities. You can reach them at (765) 473-6528 or their mobile number +1 765-473-6528 for inquiries. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground generally provides a pleasant environment and facilities, but there have been significant issues reported regarding at least one of their cabin rentals.
Mississinewa Lake Campground, as its name suggests, is situated near Mississinewa Lake, offering "nice access points to the lake" for various water-related activities. The environment is described as "super nice" with "clean grounds," contributing to a positive initial impression. The campground is also noted for its quiet atmosphere, with "quiet hours" being respected, which is ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat. Furthermore, the campground is "dog friendly," making it a suitable option for campers traveling with their canine companions. The presence of "nice family friendly" atmosphere suggests that the campground aims to cater to families looking for outdoor recreation.
In terms of services and features, Mississinewa Lake Campground offers clean restroom areas, which is a significant factor for camper comfort. The attendants are described as "very nice," indicating helpful and friendly staff. For nature enthusiasts, the campground boasts "hiking paths" that reportedly have "tasty blackberry bushes along the way," adding a unique and enjoyable element to exploring the surroundings. The combination of lake access and hiking trails provides opportunities for diverse outdoor activities.
However, a concerning review details a very negative experience with cabin rental #5. The guests encountered immediate issues upon arrival, with the provided access code not working and a significant delay in obtaining a key due to the lack of staff at the gate. This initial inconvenience was followed by a serious issue with bed bugs. The reviewer reported that their son woke up with bites on the first morning, and by the second morning, the entire family was affected. Medical confirmation identified these as bed bug bites, leading the family to check out early. Despite attempting to show a collected bug to the office staff, the reviewer states that the staff refused to even look at it and were unwilling to offer a refund for the unused portion of their stay, with the manager allegedly being dismissive and denying the presence of bed bugs based on their own inspection. The reviewer claims to have professional confirmation of bed bugs and expresses significant dissatisfaction with the handling of their complaint.
This detailed negative review regarding cabin #5 raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and pest management in at least one of the rental units. While the positive review highlights the cleanliness of the grounds and restroom areas, this discrepancy suggests a potential inconsistency in the upkeep of different types of accommodations within the campground. Local users considering cabin rentals at Mississinewa Lake Campground should be aware of this reported issue and perhaps inquire specifically about the recent history and pest control measures for any cabin they are interested in renting.
The positive review does not mention the availability of RV sites or tent camping areas, focusing instead on the overall environment and amenities. The negative review specifically pertains to a cabin rental. Therefore, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of all types of camping available at Mississinewa Lake Campground based solely on these two contrasting experiences.
No promotional information is included in the provided reviews. Local users interested in Mississinewa Lake Campground should contact them directly at the provided phone numbers or visit their website (if available) to inquire about current rates for campsites and cabin rentals, availability, specific amenities offered at each type of site, and their policies regarding refunds and pest control. It would be prudent to ask about the campground's procedures for addressing pest issues and to inquire about the recent history of any cabin rentals you might be considering.
For local residents seeking "camping near me" with lake access and a generally pleasant environment, Mississinewa Lake Campground appears to offer appealing features such as clean grounds, nice lake access, and dog-friendly policies. The hiking trails with blackberries add a unique touch for nature lovers. However, the serious allegations of a bed bug infestation in cabin #5 and the reported dismissive response from management cannot be ignored. Potential guests, especially those considering cabin rentals, should exercise caution and seek assurances regarding the cleanliness and pest management practices for their chosen accommodation.
To make an informed decision, local users should contact Mississinewa Lake Campground directly with specific questions about the types of camping available, the amenities included with each option, their pet policies, and their procedures for handling guest concerns, particularly regarding cleanliness and pests. Inquiring about recent pest control inspections for rental units might also be a prudent step. While the positive review suggests a generally well-maintained and enjoyable campground, the negative experience with the cabin rental serves as a significant cautionary note that potential guests should be aware of.
In conclusion, Mississinewa Lake Campground near Peru, Indiana, offers a lakeside setting with clean grounds, lake access, hiking trails, and a dog-friendly policy, making it potentially attractive for local campers. However, a concerning report of a severe bed bug infestation in a rental cabin and a negative experience with management's response necessitates careful consideration, especially for those interested in cabin rentals. Prospective guests should seek further information and assurances from the campground management regarding the cleanliness and pest control measures in place to ensure a comfortable and worry-free "camping near me" experience.

Jul 28, 2024 · Tyler ShepperdRented cabin 5. First get there and code won’t work. No one at gate to help. Had to find camp host which he had to call 3 people before he found help. Almost an hour later while my family is just standing and waiting a guy came with a key and unlocked door for us. He apologized and promised the next day he would send free wood to our cabin for having to wait so long. That wood never came. First morning we woke to my son with bites on him in lines and triangles. I was not educated so I didn’t know what it was. Second morning woke to whole family completely ate up. I paid 50.00 and did a video chat with my doctor immediately which confirmed they were bed bug bites. We immediately packed up and checked out early and went to laundry mat. My daughter noticed a bug one on her leg while my husband and I were packing up. I bagged it and tried to show office when I checked out and the lady refused to even look at it. This 170.00 cabin rental to celebrate my daughter’s birthday has so far cost me close to 1500. I ask for refund and manager wouldn’t even let me finish talking. I was only asking for a refund for the last day that we left early. But she never even heard that. I immediately get attitude from manger and told they had their guy check the cabin and there isn’t any bed bugs. Promise you “their guy” isn’t a professional exterminator!! Funny because I have doctor confirmation and Exterminator confirmation and still hve that bug in a bag that they still won’t even hear me when I say I have it to show them. Refused any sort of refund and pretty much told me they don’t believe me. Exterminator found zero in my home but still doing the treatments grrrr!! I have all this documented by professionals and offered to bring to them and they completely over talked me and wouldn’t hear me. Good luck to the next person that stays in that cabin!! When you wake up eaten alive you won’t get a refund so don’t waste your time asking!!!
