Based on customer reviews, this city-run campground boasts stunning lake views, well-maintained facilities, and appealing amenities, making it a noteworthy option for those looking to connect with nature in the Upper Peninsula. However, one review also raises a concern regarding the reservation process, suggesting potential issues with site availability and communication.
The environment surrounding Munising Tourist Park Campground is undoubtedly one of its primary draws. The "Lakefront campsite" mentioned in one review further emphasizes the direct access and views of the lake that some sites offer. Customer reviews provide insights into the services and amenities available at Munising Tourist Park Campground. One reviewer praised the campground as "well-maintained" and noted "great amenities." Specifically, the showers were highlighted as "fantastic"—clean, spacious, and with plenty of hot water, which is a significant comfort for campers. Another notable amenity mentioned is a "cozy fireplace," which was described as perfect for chilly evenings and even for roasting food, suggesting a communal or possibly individual fireplace option depending on the site or common area. While one review expressed frustration with the online reservation system and a lack of response to an email, the positive review indicates that the physical facilities and amenities on-site are generally well-regarded. As a city-run campground, it likely offers standard camping services such as designated campsites for tents and RVs, potentially with varying levels of hookups. Local users should inquire about specific campsite amenities, including water and electrical hookups, as well as the availability of other services like picnic tables, fire rings, and potentially dump stations for RVs, when making reservations. The discrepancy in reviews regarding the reservation process and communication warrants local users to be diligent in their booking and communication attempts.

While the negative review suggests potential issues with the reservation system (possibly indicating high demand, which could also be seen as a feature of a popular location), the positive review emphasizes the pleasantness of the campground for relaxation and connecting with nature. Local users seeking a "camping near me" location with stunning lake views, comfortable amenities like good showers and potentially fireplaces, and convenient access to the Munising area will find these features appealing. However, they should be aware of the potential challenges with the reservation process as mentioned in one of the reviews.

It might be prudent to inquire about the reservation process and availability directly via phone to ensure a smooth booking experience. Despite this potential issue, the allure of camping with beautiful lake views and good amenities close to home makes Munising Tourist Park Campground a strong contender for local campers.

Munising Tourist Park Campground Reviews
Just had an amazing weekend at the Lake Superior View Campground! The views of the lake were absolutely stunning, and the sunsets were nothing short of breathtaking. The campground itself is well-maintained and offers great amenities. The showers were fantastic—clean, spacious, and with plenty of hot water. Loved the cozy fireplace—it was perfect for chilly evenings and roasting chicken. Overall, a very pleasant place to relax and connect with nature. Highly recommend! 🌲🔥🌊
Oct 14, 2024 · gowtham reddyAs it is a city-run campground, I expected better. We looked forward for six months to spending our anniversary in this campground. We patiently waited until 8:00 p.m. on December 1st to get our site. We logged in at 7:55 p.m. and refreshed until the sites opened. We had our Lakefront campsite picked in our cart and went to pay for it, but there was an error. I went back to the main page, and all the sites were gone. Something funny is going on with this campground. All the sites were reserved beforehand. I guess they should advertise as being a seasonal only campground. Emailed the campground that same night and no response.
Dec 07, 2024 · MarkBy far, the major attraction of this campground - this is our third time staying here - is its proximity to Lake Superior. The campground goes right up to the edge of the lake and has a sandy beach that runs the entire length of the campground. This means that there is direct access from the campground to the lake. The individual sites are a mixture of FHU and water/electric. At least some of the FHU sites are 50 amp. The sites all seem generally level, with dirt for the "pad" and grass around that.As with our two other times, this time, we were in the Overflow Area. 30/20, water, no sewer. We wanted the front of the coach to face the lake, which meant the utilities were at the front of the "campsite" rather than in the rear, so we were thankful that we had an extra section of water hose, and an extension cord for our electrical.Speaking of electrical, in the overflow area, when it is full, and it is hot outside, there is sometimes a dip in the pedestal voltage to below 104 volts, the point at which our Huges Power Watchdog will cut power to the coach. The campground is adjacent to a 55 mph two-lane highway, so there is road noise. Fortunately, it is almost entirely tire noise rather than truck noise, and it tends to quite down significantly at night.Big rig friendly. Clean toilets and showers. Nice dump site.3 bars Verizon, 2 bars T-Mobile, good AT&T data. Campground has Wi-Fi but we did not try it.Tips:If you want to get a real campsite, book *well* in advance.
Dec 26, 2024 · David SandersNice but crowded campground. It’s very close to a busy road so you get a lot of road noise. Definitely need to bring an extension cord and extra hose due to you share water and electric. Sites are close together. The beach was very nice and clean with beautiful views. Shower house and bathrooms are nice. Staff were nice and friendly when we checked in. We enjoy all the national parks and it’s very close to a lot of nice hiking trails with amazing views. Campground itself was quiet but we stayed in the middle of the week.
Jul 26, 2024 · Randall DWas on the computer at 759pm with site picked out and credit card in hand and couldn't add anything to my cart. Seen this before at other privately run campgrounds. Despite what we were told, seasonal campers already reserved their sites ahead of the supposed Dec 4 reservation start time. No way in hell the entire campground except the same 4 sites filled up for every day in 2 minutes. Disappointed.
