This campground, praised by a long-term guest of over a year, is characterized by its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and the evident pride of ownership taken by the "amazing" owners.
The environment at Oakridge Campground is a significant draw for nature lovers. Guests can expect to see wild animals such as deer and turkeys roaming freely through the grounds, along with smaller creatures. A notable feature is the well-stocked pond, where fishing is abundant, and visitors can observe frogs and both small and large turtles basking in the sun. The sunsets over the water are described as "amazing," providing a picturesque backdrop to the camping experience. This natural setting offers a peaceful retreat for those looking to reconnect with nature close to home.
While Oakridge Campground may not offer traditional amenities like a pool or playground, it fosters an environment that encourages imagination and simple outdoor fun. The open lawns provide ample space for games like tag and other made-up activities. The atmosphere is conducive to conversation, laughter, and even occasional music and dancing, suggesting a friendly and relaxed community among the campers.
The campground provides essential services for a comfortable stay. For those with campers, hook-ups are available. Primitive camping is also offered, specifically on weekends, catering to those who prefer a more traditional camping experience. Clean bathrooms with showers are provided for all guests, ensuring basic hygiene needs are met. Additionally, the campground's location offers the convenience of being close to a gas station and a drive-in theater, providing options for necessities and local entertainment.
One reviewer noted a potential drawback regarding the smell of the water in the bathroom, describing it as "really foul." This is a point that prospective campers may want to consider or inquire about with the owners. Another point mentioned was that tent camping is only available on weekends. This is important for tent campers to note when planning their stay. The same reviewer also had a subjective experience of the owner seeming "kinda rude," emphasizing that this might have been a personal perception.
The campground operates with a quiet time from 10 pm to 8 am, ensuring a peaceful night's rest for all guests. Tent camping is priced at $20 per night, offering an affordable option for those looking to camp under the stars on weekends. Pets are allowed at Oakridge Campground, making it a suitable choice for those who travel with their furry companions. However, there are specific rules in place to protect the natural environment, including a prohibition on picking plants or flowers and a strict catch-and-release policy for fishing.
Overall, the experience at Oakridge Campground seems to be geared towards those seeking a quieter, more nature-oriented camping experience rather than a family-focused resort with extensive amenities. While one reviewer felt it wasn't particularly "family oriented," they did mention their child enjoyed catching frogs, fish, and tadpoles, indicating that there are still opportunities for children to engage with nature. The absence of snakes in the pond area was also noted as unusual.
The campground offers fire pits, although one reviewer felt hesitant to inquire about them, suggesting that new guests might benefit from clear information upon arrival regarding the use of such amenities. Despite this, the availability of fire pits implies the possibility of enjoying campfires and roasting marshmallows, a quintessential camping activity.
Considering its inclusion in the "camping near me" category, Oakridge Campground provides a valuable option for local residents who appreciate a natural environment, fishing opportunities, and a generally quiet atmosphere. The long-term positive experience of one guest speaks volumes about the campground's appeal to those seeking a peaceful and well-maintained setting. The owners' dedication to their property and the enjoyment of their guests is also a significant positive aspect highlighted in the reviews.

Oakridge Campground, LLC Reviews
I've spent over a year at oakridge campground and can't say enough good things about the park. Wishing I could stay, but it was time for a new adventure but I will definitely be back. The owners are amazing! They enjoy the grounds and the people who visit and take pride in their ownership of their property. Wild animals roam through such as deer and turkeys and other small animals. Fishing is abundant in their pond and you will see frogs, small and larger turtles sunning in the afternoon. Sunsets are amazing coming across the water in the evening. No there may not be a pool, playground for the kids, long hiking trails, but there is imaginations that can be used here, lawns to play tag, or many other made up games. Conversations a plenty, laughing, music and I'm sure I've seen a little dancing one night 😊
Jul 13, 2024 · jennie bosseIt was a pretty nice site.Pros: You can fish, they have lots of shade, they offer camper hook-ups and do primitive camping on weekends. They also have clean bathrooms with showers. Also, it's close to a gas station and the drive-in theater!Cons:The water in the bathroom smells really foul, only tent camping on weekends. The man who owns the place kinda seemed rude, but maybe that was just me.Quiet time is I believe is 10pm till 8am.Tent camping is 20 a night.Pets allowed. No picking plants/flowers and only catch and release.Overall, the experience was alright. The campsite is pretty small and everybody is close together but everybody is super quiet and I think more so there for long term. I didn't catch anything but branches while fishing, but maybe you'll be in luck! They also have fire pits, but I felt like an unwanted guest and didn't want to ask about them, so we just went out to eat while camping and didn't do smores. It is a nice place but I don't think family oriented. We went because it was close and my child has been begging to go camping. We do plan on returning, but this time, we hope to actually start a fire and roast some Smores. Also, my son loved catching the frogs, fish, and tadpoles. I also saw no snakes at all, which I think is crazy. Usually, you see a few in pond areas.
Jul 15, 2023 · Lil MikaExtremely disrespectful company!!! Me and my husband made a reservation in May and were scheduled to go there in August. The owner had asked how many people and how many dogs and we told him two people and two dogs. He said that was fine as long as the dogs were on a leash, then we followed up again in July to make sure we still had a reservation and he had said we were all good. Well the middle of August rolled around and we went down to the campground to check out what spot we were getting and brought one of our dogs with us and they showed us and once again told us we were “good”. Then, less than two weeks before we moved there they texted me and asked if we had dogs and how many people after we already said. But I told him again and then he said our dogs were not allowed!!!!! And that we did not have the reservation anymore!!!! I mean, they waited three months to tell us that and told us less than two weeks before we moved there how rude and unprofessional!!!!! Do not go there whatever you do because they do not know how to do business and are extremely mean.
Aug 17, 2024 · Adrianna RodriguezSet in one of the most beautiful sites offered in S.Indiana. Wildlife is very abundant and the lake here in the park offers plenty of bluegill and catfishing but the Bass fishing is hard to beat. Common to land 8lbs plus... Quiet and family friendly...
May 07, 2024 · Jay ForbeyThe new owners are doing a great job. So nice and accommodating. We stayed for 3 months. Very quiet and peaceful. We will be back again in the spring.
