Oxford Ranch Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Texas Hill Country seeking a "camping near me" destination, particularly those looking for a convenient base to explore the iconic Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, Oxford Ranch Campground, located at 11380 TX-16, Llano, TX 78643, USA, offers a friendly and well-situated option. With both RV spots and tent camping available at affordable rates, and positive feedback regarding the owner's friendliness, this campground presents an attractive choice for a local getaway. However, potential visitors should also be aware of certain aspects mentioned in the reviews to ensure it aligns with their preferences.
Convenient Location Near Enchanted Rock: One of the primary advantages of Oxford Ranch Campground for local users is its proximity to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. This renowned Texas landmark draws visitors from all over with its massive pink granite dome and stunning panoramic views. For local residents wanting to spend time hiking, exploring, or simply enjoying the beauty of Enchanted Rock without a long drive, Oxford Ranch Campground provides a conveniently located "camping near me" option. Its position on TX-16 also likely offers relatively easy access.
Affordable Camping Rates: Oxford Ranch Campground offers budget-friendly rates for both RV and tent campers. According to a recent review, RV spots with electric hookups are available for $25 per night, while tent camping is priced at $10 per night. These competitive prices make it an accessible option for local individuals and families looking for an affordable "camping near me" experience, especially when planning a weekend trip to the Enchanted Rock area or simply seeking an economical outdoor escape.
Decent Phone Service: In today's connected world, reliable phone service can be an important consideration even when camping. Oxford Ranch Campground offers the advantage of decent phone service with major carriers like T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T. This ensures that local campers can stay connected with family and friends, access information, and even work remotely if needed, while still enjoying the tranquility of a camping environment "near me."
Available Bathhouse and Clean Portable Toilet: The campground provides essential facilities for campers, including a bathhouse with toilets and showers. While the review doesn't detail the specifics of the bathhouse, its presence is a significant convenience for those who prefer more traditional restroom facilities. Additionally, a portable toilet is located towards the back half of the ranch. Notably, a reviewer mentioned that the portable toilet was very clean on a Friday, indicating that it is serviced regularly, reportedly once a week on Wednesdays. This attention to cleanliness, even for a portable facility, suggests a commitment to guest comfort.
Friendly Owner and Busy Atmosphere: The owner of Oxford Ranch Campground is described as "very friendly" in a customer review. This personal touch can greatly enhance the camping experience, making guests feel welcome and well-cared for. The reviewer also notes that it is a "busy place," which suggests that the campground is a popular choice, particularly during peak seasons or weekends. While a busy atmosphere can be lively and provide opportunities to meet other campers, local users seeking a more secluded experience might want to inquire about site availability and the general level of activity during their intended stay.
Important Considerations: Dogs Running About and Permanent Residents: While the overall feedback is positive, there are a couple of points that local users should be aware of. One reviewer mentioned "dogs running about," which led to a four-star rating instead of five. This could be a concern for campers who are not comfortable around loose dogs or those traveling with their own pets who might not interact well with others. It would be prudent for potential visitors to inquire about the campground's pet policies and how the issue of roaming dogs is managed. Additionally, the presence of "permanent residents" is noted. While this isn't necessarily negative, it can contribute to a different dynamic compared to campgrounds solely catering to overnight guests.
Local Tips: Burn Ban Regulations and Campfires for Cooking: The reviews provide valuable local tips for campers. It is advised to check the local counties' website for current burn ban regulations, as these can vary depending on weather conditions. However, even if a burn ban is in effect, campers are legally allowed to have a fire as long as it is being used for cooking. This is an important piece of information for local users who enjoy cooking over a campfire during their "camping near me" trips.
Contact Information for Local Inquiries and Reservations: Local residents interested in booking a stay at Oxford Ranch Campground or seeking more information can contact them directly at (325) 247-1639 or the mobile number +1 325-247-1639. Calling these numbers will allow potential campers to inquire about campsite availability, specific amenities, pet policies, the typical level of activity, and any other questions they may have. Direct communication with the campground is always the best way to get the most current and detailed information.
Understanding the Environment in More Detail: While the reviews highlight the proximity to Enchanted Rock, local users might want to know more about the specific environment of the campground itself. Inquiries could include:
- What is the terrain like? Are the RV spots and tent areas level and easily accessible?
- Is there shade available at the campsites? What type of vegetation is present?
- Are there any specific natural features on the property?
- What is the noise level like at night?
Getting answers to these questions will help local campers choose a campsite that best suits their preferences and needs.
Inquiring About Specific Services and Features: When contacting Oxford Ranch Campground, local users should also ask about:
- The number and size of RV spots and tent sites.
- The type and amperage of electrical hookups available for RVs.
- Water and sewer hookup availability for RVs (if any).
- The specifics of the bathhouse facilities (number of showers, toilets, cleanliness).
- Whether picnic tables and fire rings are provided at each campsite.
- Any additional amenities such as Wi-Fi access or laundry facilities (though not mentioned in the reviews).
This will provide a clearer picture of the services and features available for a comfortable stay.
Exploring Potential Promotional Information for Local Campers: Local residents should also inquire if Oxford Ranch Campground offers any discounts for local residents, off-season rates, or special packages for longer stays. While no promotions are mentioned in the provided reviews, it's always worth asking when planning a "camping near me" trip.
Supporting a Local Texas Business Near a Natural Treasure: By choosing to stay at Oxford Ranch Campground, local residents are supporting a local business in the Llano area, which in turn contributes to the economy of the region surrounding a major natural attraction like Enchanted Rock. This can be a positive aspect for those who value supporting local enterprises while enjoying the outdoors.
A Call to Action for Local Adventure Seekers: If you are a local resident in the Texas Hill Country looking for an affordable and friendly "camping near me" option near Enchanted Rock, Oxford Ranch Campground is a worthwhile consideration. Contact them at (325) 247-1639 or +1 325-247-1639 to inquire about availability and plan your next camping adventure in this beautiful part of Texas. Feb 11, 2025 · DietrichGreat little camp area outside of Enchanted rock. RV spots with electric for 25 a night. Tent camping 10. Very friendly owner and a busy place. Four stars due to dogs running about. There are permanent residents there as well as overnighters.
Mar 22, 2025 · Lisa JohnsonSimple place not fancy.. usually not staffed,. Has a pay box. A few electrical boxes. Kinda camp. Where you want no designated spots.. no amenities zero..
Apr 22, 2025 · Jim WGreat primitive camping spot. We brought our travel trailer and were able to find a relatively level spot away from any other campers. The RV hookup spots are very close together so we avoided. Electric only spots are right at the entrance. Close to Fredericksburg and Enchanted Rock where we took day trips.
Dec 05, 2024 · Charlie EastbergWe went for the Solar Eclipse! It was great! The land was well-maintained. My husband and I were looking for a place in the path of totality after I made the mistake of booking a Day pass for Sunday instead of a camping spot for Sunday. All the state parks were booked to the nines. I then kept zooming in closer to the map and found this place. The lady on the phone, Tia, was really kind and laid back. We came in the evening and navigating to the spot we picked was easy. The next day, we looked around and went for a long walk. The land was well-maintained, beautiful spring flowers everywhere, there was no trash in sight, or suspicious people at all. The ranch is absolutely beautiful 😍 It was only $10 per person! When we came back to town we were told that there was a different ranch holding an Eclipse Festival and they were price gouging. I’m SO glad we didn’t go to that nightmare and we found this place, instead! Will definitely be back to this hidden springtime gem!
