Pinnacle Creek Campground Introduce
For local adventure seekers in West Virginia looking for "camping near me," particularly those interested in exploring the renowned Hatfield-McCoy Trails, Pinnacle Creek Campground, located at RR 16, Pineville, WV 24874, offers a strategically positioned basecamp. Situated near the town of Pineville, this campground provides essential amenities for ATV riders and other outdoor enthusiasts. While it may differ from traditional campgrounds with extensive facilities, its proximity to key attractions and its functional setup make it a noteworthy option for those focused on adventure rather than resort-style camping.
The environment surrounding Pinnacle Creek Campground is primarily geared towards outdoor recreational activities, most notably ATV riding on the Hatfield-McCoy Pinnacle Creek Trails. Located in the rugged and scenic terrain of southern West Virginia, the area is characterized by mountainous landscapes, wooded areas, and winding trails that attract off-road vehicle enthusiasts from across the region. For local users searching for "camping near me" with the primary intention of accessing these trails, the campground's environment is defined by its convenient proximity to the trailhead, which is reported to be just a 5-minute ride away. The town of Pineville, also nearby, offers access to basic amenities and local services.
In terms of services, Pinnacle Creek Campground offers the fundamental necessities for RV and trailer camping. According to a customer review, the campground is described as "not much more than a large gravel lot with about 12 lots." Each of these lots is equipped with essential hookups, including electricity, water, and sewer connections, catering specifically to the needs of RVs and trailers. It is important to note that the review explicitly states, "There are no restrooms or showers here." This indicates that campers staying at Pinnacle Creek Campground must be self-contained in their RVs or trailers for these essential facilities. The availability of these hookups ensures a comfortable stay for those traveling with their own accommodations.
A significant feature of Pinnacle Creek Campground is its prime location for accessing the Hatfield-McCoy Pinnacle Creek Trails. This makes it a highly convenient option for local ATV riders and outdoor adventurers planning to explore this extensive trail system. The short distance to the trailhead eliminates lengthy travel times and allows for more time spent on the trails. Another notable feature, highlighted in a review, is the presence of a food service offering at the campground. While not a traditional campground amenity, the availability of cooked-to-order food, including highly praised items like cheese steaks, Black Angus cheeseburgers, and seasoned French fries, adds a unique benefit for campers. This on-site food option provides a convenient alternative to cooking after a day of riding or exploring.
While specific promotional information is not available, the key selling point of Pinnacle Creek Campground is its strategic location and functional amenities tailored for Hatfield-McCoy trail users. For local residents interested in ATV riding and seeking "camping near me" that prioritizes trail access, Pinnacle Creek Campground offers a practical and convenient solution. The positive reviews regarding the quality of the food served at the campground can also be seen as a form of promotion, highlighting an unexpected but welcome amenity. The willingness to accept reservations, as mentioned in a review ("Reservations don't seem to be normally accepted, but we were able to make a reservation"), suggests a degree of flexibility that might appeal to local groups planning their trail adventures.
For local users planning a trip to ride the Hatfield-McCoy Pinnacle Creek Trails, the campground's proximity to the trailhead is a major advantage. The availability of full hookups for RVs and trailers ensures a comfortable and self-sufficient camping experience. While the absence of public restrooms and showers is a crucial consideration, it is less of an issue for those traveling with fully equipped RVs. The on-site food service provides a convenient and well-regarded dining option, adding value to the overall experience. The fact that reservations are sometimes accepted is also a benefit for those who prefer to have their accommodation secured in advance, especially during peak riding seasons.
Local residents of West Virginia and surrounding areas who are passionate about ATV riding will find Pinnacle Creek Campground a no-frills but highly functional base for their adventures on the Hatfield-McCoy Trails. The combination of essential RV amenities and the convenience of being just a short ride from the trailhead makes it a logical choice for those prioritizing trail access and a comfortable place to park their RVs. The positive feedback on the food further enhances its appeal, offering a convenient and tasty dining option right at the campground.
In conclusion, Pinnacle Creek Campground in Pineville, WV, caters specifically to outdoor enthusiasts, particularly those interested in the Hatfield-McCoy Pinnacle Creek Trails. While it offers a more basic camping experience focused on essential RV hookups and convenient trail access, its strategic location and the unexpected bonus of well-regarded on-site food make it a valuable option for local users searching for "camping near me" in the context of ATV adventures in southern West Virginia.

Pinnacle Creek Campground Reviews
I had heard they had good fried pickles but didn't try them. I did have a cheese steak though and it was amazing. The cheeseburger that my wife got was as well. It was all Black Angus and the French Fries perfectly seasoned. They serve your drinks in the bottle. The inside is not unappealing but it's made for 4 wheelers. It's definitely on my favorite place to grab a burger now! It is not a fast food place so expect to wait for your order to be cooked to order but it's well worth the wait!
Mar 29, 2019 · Ray OnealWe stayed here for an extended weekend while ridding the H&M Pinnacle Creek Trails. The Campground is not much more than a large gravel lot with about 12 lots. Each one has Electric, Water, and Sewer Hookups. There are no restrooms or showers here. Reservations don't seem to be normally accepted, but we were able to make a reservation. The campground is about a 5 minute ride from the trail head and the town of Pineville. Good location!
