Platter Flats Campground Introduce
Looking for a camping experience near you that offers the beauty of a lakeside setting? Platter Flats Campground, located on Trail Ride Rd in Calera, Oklahoma, presents itself as a potential destination within the 'camping near me' category, particularly for those seeking to camp near the scenic Lake Texoma.
Based on available information, Platter Flats Campground boasts a "beautiful spot on Lake Texoma." This suggests a prime environment for those who appreciate waterfront camping and the recreational opportunities that a large lake like Texoma can offer. Lake Texoma is renowned for its expansive waters, attracting visitors for boating, fishing, and enjoying scenic lake views. Camping at Platter Flats likely provides easy access to the lake, allowing campers to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area. Imagine waking up to the sight of the lake, enjoying the potential for water-based activities, and experiencing the generally pleasant ambiance associated with lakeside camping. The "very clean and well kept" aspect mentioned in one review further indicates that the campground management takes pride in maintaining the grounds, contributing to a more enjoyable experience for visitors who value cleanliness and order in their camping environment.
While specific details regarding the services offered at Platter Flats Campground are somewhat limited in the provided information, we can infer some common services typically associated with campgrounds. It is reasonable to expect designated campsites for both tent camping and RV camping. These sites may vary in size and amenities. For RV campers, it's possible that some sites offer hookups for water and electricity, although this is not explicitly stated. Basic amenities such as restroom facilities are generally expected at campgrounds to cater to the needs of campers. Access to potable water sources is also a common requirement. While one review mentions an interaction with an "attendant on duty," this suggests that there is some level of on-site management or staff presence. However, the negative experience described in the same review regarding the attendant's professionalism and response to concerns about a significant number of cats is noteworthy and something potential visitors may want to consider. The positive aspect of the other review mentioning the cleanliness and upkeep suggests that basic maintenance services are likely in place.
The primary feature of Platter Flats Campground appears to be its location on the "beautiful spot on Lake Texoma." This in itself is a significant draw for those interested in lake-related activities. The potential for fishing, boating, and enjoying the scenic beauty of the lake are key features associated with this campground. The fact that one reviewer found it to be "very clean and well kept" is another positive feature, indicating attention to the maintenance of the physical grounds. However, a significant concern raised in another review is the presence of a large number of cats (30-40) within the campsite area, along with an associated smell resembling a litter box. This is a notable feature that could significantly impact the camping experience for some individuals. The same review also highlighted a negative interaction with a staff member, describing them as "very unprofessional." While this is just one account, it is a feature of the experience that potential visitors should be aware of. The long-term patronage of the first reviewer (25+ years of camping there) prior to this negative experience suggests that there may have been positive aspects in the past. However, the recent negative encounter and the issue with the cats are significant features that potential campers should consider alongside the positive comment about the location and cleanliness.

Platter Flats Campground Reviews
Came for a get away, we didn’t know we would have to contend with 30-40 cats in our campsite daily. It smells like a litter box. Spoke to the attendant on duty and was told that’s the way it is here you didn’t have to come here to camp. Very unprofessional lady who is working here. We have been camping here for 25+ years and I’ve never been dealt this way or spoken to this way by a state employee. We’re gonna go on an indoor camping trip five days early to get away from here..

Apr 11, 2025 · Michael TimpsonGreat place for the whole family!! Just a FYI the information that the showers are CLISED until 4/1 is not on the app when you reserve your site it does state that the season starts 3/1 but there is no showers and no water at campsites I still give them a 5+ rating it’s the best camping they still believe in keeping the trees for us old timers that live shade trees at our campsite unlike east burns!! THANK YOU PLATTER for a great stay will be back real soon!
Mar 02, 2025 · Kim RoperPretty lake & nice flat area to camp at. This is a really good camping area for everyone that has horses. The park manger comes by several times & so does the park ranger. Maybe that should make you feel safe? There are not any restrooms with lights or showers in certain areas during the winter months. Not a bad area but if you want more trees, i would go somewhere else.
Apr 06, 2024 · Amanda VasquezI love coming up here, the sites by the water are really nice. The gravel sites are nice but share water hookups so the spigot is not in a convenient location so make sure you have a long hose or a full tank of fresh water before you setup.
